MFP adjustment

I've been using a fitbit to track activity and mfp to track diet. And have them paired. I am about 245lbs
I usually am alotted about 1500 calories for the day, and mfp expects me to burn 2510 calories a day. My activity level is set to "Not Very Active"
I also have negative adjustments on, and this usually ends up with me losing total calories to eat. I understand that the fitbit projects a daily burn of around 2100-2200 daily.
My problem is, doesn't mfp's daily projection seem high? I tried changing my activity level to see if the daily projection changes, but it doesn't change.
Anyone know if this is normal? I know im eating less and such, but this just doesnt seem right.

It's just an estimate based on how you set up your profile and a handful of assumptions. The only way to know for sure is to track your progress over time and see how that progress lines up with what MFP is telling you.
MFP's numbers are basically your starting point. Run with them for a while, evaluate, then adjust as necessary.1 -
What model Fitbit and do you wear the Fitbit 24/7?0

Check your stats (gender, age, height, weight) and weight loss rate (if you have that set in Fitbit) in both MFP and Fitbit.
What rate of loss in MFP (and Fitbit) have you chosen? Make sure you are not set in MFP for maintenance.0 -
Im set for two lbs each week. Would that be it?0

It sounds to me like MFP is counting everything your fitbit says you burn as exercise.0

Working backwards, 3510 Cals/day - 1000 Cals/day = 2510 Cals (goal at 2 lbs per week).
Sedentary = 1.25 x BMR of maintenance (3510); therefore, BMR should be 2800 Cals.
The stats I got for a male of 245 lbs with a BMR of 2800 Cals would be if you were a 20 y.o. with a height of 9'5".
Check your stats!0 -
Im at 5ft5in, if that changes anything. And 26years old.0

First, check your height. If that is correct, change your Goal back to maintenance and note how many Calories it gives you.0 -
I set it to maintain and my daily caloric intake is 2520.
And the calories MFP expects me to burn is 2510. The same amount from before.0 -

OK, there is something definitely messed up with your account. I would recommend opening a Case with Customer Support on the MFP Help/FAQ pages...

Maybe I’m reading it wrong, but it sounds like MFP is working exactly as you’d expect. You said it estimated your calories burned at 2500 and gave you a goal of 1500 for 2lbs/week. So far so good. Now, the issue seems to be that your Fitbit is only saying you’re burning 2200 or so. If that’s the case, I’d say it’s one of 3 things.
1. Your activity level is below that of a sedentary person. How many steps do you do? Unless it’s really low (like less than 5k/day), I wouldn’t worry about it.
2. Your settings are wrong on the Fitbit. If that’s the case, just correct them and see what it says.
3. Your Fitbit isn’t working correctly. Not sure how to check that one, but I bet they have customer support and online help.0 -
I typically reach my goal of 10k/day. weekends i may do slightly less though.0
