I don't even wash them. Just brush the dirt off. It is sterilized dirt anyway.

Most advice I have seen for new runners is to run only 3 days per week, with cross training on the other days and one full rest day every week. Try an app like couch to 5K that will back you off the running and get you started on an easier plan. Once you are running 3 days/week without excess pain and soreness you can…

I am currently a 19 miler and a 20 miler away from my first marathon. I am using Hal Higdon Novice 2 program. I started training for one last summer and ended up injured. Feeling good this time around. The time commitment is huge. And I can't wait to not have to run X number of miles/day/week/month when this is over. That…

I take my boxer running with me. She is a fantastic running partner. She never pulls her leash or tries to stop. The lab is too slow and lazy so I only walk with him. The cat, well, he likes to come lay on the yoga matt when I get it out, but that's not really exercise.

Just got back from a 6 mile lunch time run.

I run at my lunch and eat at my desk while working after. Baby wipes for a shower in winter and rinse off in the shower in summer. I am lucky my office has locker rooms.

You are awesome too! :drinker:

This guy is awesome!

I am average sized. I get heckled when I run on occasion. It does not matter what you look like. The miserable people in the world will always have something to say. It is a reflection on them, not you. Keep up the good work!

Awesome job everyone! Verda you totally ROCK! I was a loser last week and barely got the workouts in, and didn't meet the calorie burn goal. Between the cold and the snow and the ice I wasn't able to run much Monday-Friday and that is where I burn my calories. Thank you for the awesome challenge! I lost 14 pounds I would…

I lucked out! I have a lunch date I forgot about today. No run. :drinker:

My Wednesday: 39 minutes running for 300 calories 300 reps (200 abs, 100 cardio) Stretching 15 minutes Hoping to run today. High temps supposed to be -3, but going to be even colder tomorrow, so..... guess I need to suck it up and do it. :grumble:

I have been eating like crap too. BUT, we are not failures! This is one week out of the whole year! We have all busted our butts for nearly 13 weeks, and that includes the folks that had to drop for whatever reason, they are still here earning their points and doing their best! A day here and a day there does not make…

Sadly this is part of my daily life in winter. I never log shoveling as exercise. In fact, I was wondering to myself how people actually manage to have heart attacks shoveling snow. My stupid back gives out long before my heart ever would! :grumble:

I spent several hours clearing ice and snow in anticipation of the deep freeze coming. No idea of calories, but I will get 3 other workouts this week. I did spend a lot of time stretching my poor beat up back today.

Thank you for this challenge, and thank you Verda for the invite! I can't believe that not only did I NOT GAIN through the holidays, but I lost a total of 14 pounds since mid September. (I am participating in a separate challenge with local friends through Facebook which started then). You all inspire me with your…

Been bad about posting, here is the rest of my week: Wednesday 36 minutes running (do I get extra points because it was -5?) 330 calories plus 105 minutes hiking my mothers sleigh trails removing trees that have fallen because of the ice.... Another 660 calories Stretching on my new foam roller. :) Thursday 60 minutes…

With all the ice around here and all the chopping of ice and shoveling of ice, and cleaning the barn twice a day because the horses have been in because it is too ICY, I have been a slacker so far this week. Soooo, I got up early this morning to get some sort of workout in. I was up until midnight because my brother in law…

Thursday: 1. 52 minutes running, 560 calories. I have met the workout time/calories burned for the week. 2. 100 ab reps. I have previously met the reps requirement for the week. These were extra 3. I stretched for 10 minutes in the morning 4. I have been drinking this week. Not gonna lie. Have tossed this out the window…

Everyone is being so nice this week. I guess I can jump on board with that. This is why I am inspired by all of you!

What has worked for me is foam rolling IT bands AND quads as tightness in either can cause knee pain. Also, stretching the quads really well a couple of times a day (hold each stretch for at least 30 seconds).

I get 10 extra points for EM's I am supposed to run today. I ran Saturday at -10 degrees, and yesterday in the sun at 14 degrees. Today it is cloudy, and only about 5 degrees. I am just not feeling it today. :noway: I am sick of the cold. I might take today as my rest day instead of Friday and do a few minutes of HIIT next…

It's easy to get off track this time of year. I have given myself permission to maintain from now until the holidays are over. I am extra good during the week so that I have extra calories at weekend parties. Combines with making sure I exercise every day I am planning to indulge, helps with damage control.

My points for last week is 127. My Monday: 1. 50 minutes running, 10 minutes walking, 500 calories total 2. 350 reps this morning: 25 bicep curls, 25 tricep extensions, 100 bicycles, 100 crunches, 100 flutter kicks 3. will stretch and foam roll tonight 4. this will probably be a -10 week for this item. There is a social…

Good morning Dolphins! I think I forgot to report my weight for last week. 136 was my weight on Friday. Thank heavens I don't have to weigh today. It was a rough weekend food and beverage wise.

Nice work everyone! :drinker:
