Most "yams" you see in the store are not real yams, at least in the US. They just call them yams...but they're orange-colored sweet potatoes. TRUE yams are harder and starchier, and slightly pink on the inside. Most folks on this thread have probably never had a real yam. THE YAM IS A LIE! Source of information:…

(Dude - no need to shame people.) ********* To the original poster - I'm afraid shakeweight is a bit of a sham, if you want a real intensive workout. Here is a post from webMD: http://www.webmd.com/fitness-exercise/shake-weight-review?page=2 "The company claims that the Shake Weight for women will result in lean muscle,…

@Carlos_421 and @FunkyTobias I got Giardia in Nepal, sir, not in the United States. The incidence of Giardia in the US over the past 20 years or so has hovered around 4/1000 per year, with lots of variation based on your age (as in all countries - children are more susceptible). It's a problem, but not so much as compared…

well...only you can help yourself love ;) But i talk a lot with my friends! Add me :)

MFP will calculate how much you should be eating for you...however I totally disagree that you may "just need to cut more." That may be the case, but it may not. When I've hit a plateau (pretty common) I've found going back to maintenance for a week or two, then starting to cut again helps it right along. Try it out. I…

You don't seem to like the answers given here, eh?

I have the same :D I have a pair of purple pants that keep me fking honest too - they NEVER stretch. I have to gain about 7 lbs before I can tell the difference (i'm 5'10" w/ a normal-range BMI).
-
add me! :D i talk a lot

Sure, @FunkyTobias . Those are good ones to be worried about! Good thing they're hardly in circulation in the US. Giardia is almost exterminated, and e. coli circulates on food more than in water. I am not sure why you think I'm trying to build up an immunity against them? Where have I ever stated that? I have had giardia,…

No worries, mate. I'll trust my ivy-league trained chemist over you at the moment. And changing to glass is no biggie for me. I'm not sure what you mean by saying you "find it hilarious." Is that sarcasm? I don't believe I ever said anything about not being also concerned with "contaminated water" - what are the…

There's count-downs @ all the lights on my usual route. If i've got 15 seconds left, I'll just run back down the block for 7 seconds, then back to the light...and voila! No waiting at red lights or jogging in place ;)

whoa there.

I hated it. I wore a friends' for a week. I was so happy to get rid of it. Another thing to feel *kitten* about myself about esp on days when i didn't have control over stuff. I am fine and healthy w/o it. I'm glad it works for some, but not for this chickee.

Yes! Totally give this a try & see how it works

Sure, @FunkyTobias BPA is Bisphenol A...it's easy enough to look up on wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bisphenol_A) where you can read about it's estrogen-like activity, and why it's been banned from baby bottles. As it also says...current research is still in process (as always...science!!), and that's what I…

So you're not taking my advice of a week-long sugar-fast?

Heyo! Friend me if you like :) You've got this!

Is it...is it made of people? 0.0

Considering that many people around the world survive just fine on less-than-ideal water, it's less "evolutionary" on the human DNA scale than it is on the scale of our own microbial ecosystem's evolution (like..what's in our bodies and guts)...you train it to be hardcore, it will be hardcore for you. While some basic…

Nothing that crazy. It's nothing like hard-drug withdrawal (which I have also witnessed...believe me FAR FAR FAR from anything like that). It did take adjusting, but felt like nothing worse than a day of slight dehydration or maybe a medium-mild period day? A day w/o my normal 2 cups of coffee? Slight hangover? Sluggish,…

I'm so glad to hear @megbugs has had a similar experience! @arabianhorselover think of it this way - it's only a week or two of your entire life! SUCH a small amount of time! The amazing part about it can be that it will actually change your habits and even what you desire and crave. It's really, really easy for me to say…

Losing 4 lbs in 11 days? Yikes! Be safe, and good luck :)
-
Hey there! I have had the same issues with sugar. I can just eat sugar all day. I never had understood how people could say something was "too sweet" - I was like "pssssht that's impossible, let me just eat this spoonful of STRAIGHT SUGAR we're cool". I've lost 125 lbs...and a lot of it had to do with controlling my…

Wait...why not just have a re-fillable water bottle with a top? Also, plastic water bottles are pretty awful for you.
-
Bottled water isn't necessarily better. Often, it actually has lower standards than local municipal water purification. Just go with tap, you'll be safer (unless you're in Flint, or the Navajo reservation)

I couldn't agree more. Years of deep depression (+ medication that made it worse) was how I became morbidly obese. And it was not until I focused on the emotional things that I was able to lose 125 lbs. The depression has come back at moments, and I'll gain some weight back, but now I have a better handle on my emotions…

Saved! they look like delicious fudgy brownies. I'd also add vanilla, b/c my protein powder is plain. (ps: aria protein powder is 1/2 whey anyway, isn't it?)

try some good slow stretches and yoga/pilates moves for soothing. then perhaps some jumping jacks, running in place w/ high knees, cross-country skiers, toe-touch lunges, and skaters will do it for you. Do 2 min each for 3 10-minutes sessions?

this is a really confusing post. seems like you're having technical issues...
