Whatever I would normally eat...just less of it. Plus some foods that fill me up fast.

Predestined? We're social beings. It's entirely expected/fine/natural to want and need support

I eat about 1700-1850 a day. I eat back only 20% of my exercise calories. I am 5'10", 31, and 165 lbs.

The people who are taking up space and equipment and are ON THEIR PHONES THE WHOLE TIME. Passively letting the elliptical whirl around while texting, or WATCHING A MOVIE WHILE USING THE ROWING MACHINE WITH only ONE ARM. Are you flipping kidding me? People who use their time at the gym to talk on the phone. I am tryin to…

Read this: http://www.bodyrecomposition.com/fat-loss/of-whooshes-and-squishy-fat.html/ May help. Sometimes I go a month w/o losing anything. Usually if it's more than 4 weeks I'll then take a week off and eat maintenance, then start again, and it drops again.

The answers here are going to be predictable, and tell you to just eat anything you want w/in your calorie goals. Which is true to an extent, as long as you find it physically/psychologically satisfying. I need lots of protein and fiber and fat to stay full, which dictates my diet more than "healthy" does. But it ends up…

Postponing for a bit is SUCH good advice! Make sure you'll stay with the same insurance, and talk to your clinic, and see what they say. I lost 125 lbs purely by diet and exercise. I learned so so so much about my body, my abilities, food, and cooking along the way. Congratulations on the 14 lbs lost. Friend me if you…

If that is your body in either of those pictures, love, you may need to stop losing weight immediately.

Baklava! Pot du creme and lava cakes...HOLY CRAP ONE LITTLE CAKE HAS 500+ CALORIES! Alcohol

I am not making an argument either way, but there are peer-reviewed journal articles out that have done research that confirms it is correlated with adverse health outcomes even when other factors are controlled. (Remember...the only thing in the entirety of public health that is deemed causal and not correlated with bad…

Come back in 3-6 months, when you've put some dedication in, and let us know how it's going ;) That's to say...two weeks is not a habit, not work, not dedication...yet. Two weeks is just trying something out. It's dipping your toe in.

Just sautee up some salmon with a nice miso soy sauce, and then serve it over the rice. Asparagus or green beans on the side.

What if they don't actually want to live? What if they can't imagine life any other way? There is lots of anger and judgment stirring up on this thread?
-
For me it's less "what" than "how much," "how often" and "in what form." Here's some examples. I used to eat spoonfuls of white sugar, plain, out of the sugar jar. [i still probably eat a little white sugar when i have ketchup or something, but i don't even own the stuff pure anymore. not necessary for me, and i like brown…

anyone who puts Quest bars in a smoothie is already eating corn in a smoothie! I imagine that would be a heck of a source of fibre.

That's life, love! Can they keep the soda out in the garage, at least?

That's not blunt, that's ignorant and rude.

sorry, did i say i was trying to see less or more?

Apparently even a girl in a lemur suit is attractive to some. I'm a one-man-lemur lady Yea...like any other part of life, people bring their jimmies and desires right along with them wherever they go, including the internet. It's not a "dating site" - but it's a social space.
-
*claps* amazing! I have never seen an MFP forum thread with such excellent, consistent advice :D Yay, everyone!

Try making your own. Here's my recipe for quest bars, which is pretty close to the original: 1 rectangle old cardboard 1 cup sacrificial orangutan blood 3 oz. industrial agricultural waste by-products 1 laxative suppository (melted) Stevia and whey protein powder to taste Blend and enjoy!

wow this girl likes short sentences

did you post on the wrong thread @myheartsabattleground ? That's a great motivator, Sam! Best of luck :D

The only way to lose weight, as ModernRock said, is to burn more energy than you consume. If you're already pretty slim, this may mean counting calories for you. It's good you're on this site, if that's what you want to do! I lost 125 lbs, now working on the last 10 lbs and recomposition (loosely).

No matter how snarky your response, Orphia is right. Humans are not rational actors who make perfect decisions. Never have been, never will be. It's not about "other people" either - it is about changing social relations, which involve the self as much as the others, as well as cultures, economies, and environments.
-
I don't think that's "wrong" per se, I just don't think it gets us anywhere. Sure "what we choose" plays a role. As a social scientist PhD with a degree in public health though, I am MUCH more interested in WHY certain "choices" even exist in the first place, WHAT shapes those choices (they're not just incidental), WHERE…
-
If you want to think like a social scientists, there are very particular reasons that work together to make bad food choices either a) the easiest to make, b) the most widely available to make, c) momentarily necessary to make, d) unknowingly made, c) made subconsciously as part of changing "food culture." Here are some…

I prefer the DIY version: just taking some old cardboard, and soaking it in a blend of sacrificial orangutan blood, industrial agricultural waste by-products, and a nice melted laxative suppository and topping it off with some stevia and whey protein powder. Yummy. [in other words: heck no. give me whey protein powder +…
