Tried spin twice now. Like it. Going to play with a jump rope tomorrow. Thanks for the ideas. I would still love to find a sport or something that's so fun I hardly care that I'm dripping sweat and can hardly talk.

Thanks!! This is a really useful conversation. I am due for a physical in about a month. I'll be having my thyroid checked again then. I was in hospital at the start of the year and thyroid function was "in the normal range" then. I think I need to get myself measured. I've been lifting weights pretty seriously for 5…

These are fun to read. MissStick - I'm a woman that uses a white cane = Miss Stick. Put the two words together though and it sounds like mystic and I thought that sounded kinda cool.

Excellent. Thanks!

Great suggestions. √ I like the pool idea cause we have a pool at the Y down the street. I'm not much of a swimmer but I could take a deep water class. √ I like the spinning idea the Y has classes for that too. I used to do it. I'll try it again. √ I have a hoop. I don't know if I can get my heart rate up enough with it or…

Thank you to everyone who's been offering suggestions, links and support. I'm working on the muscles. Hired a trainer as a b-day gift to myself. She kicks my less than steel buns! I'm SO happy to have this forum because I love the support and education. I wish the sniping wasn't happening. I think everyone's intentions are…

That's a good strategy socioseguro. I will try it. I like the idea of drinking green tea first to give the snacking urge time to pass. I could eat an apple with natural peanut butter 10 X a day tho. For me, that's like candy!! :) I might have to try celery or something instead.

Thanks, BuffyEat2Live. I think distracting myself might help. I suspect it's an emotional trigger that has me walking toward the kitchen like a mindless zombie woman. I wonder if trying to figure out what the triggers are would help.

I'm about to turn 49 and have been postmenopausal for about 2 years. Ugh. I know that during the months that I have no period (happening more and more often) I have a MUCH harder time maintaining the weight loss I had before coming here. I'm confident we can still get to a healthy weight! Thanks for this thread!

Love it!

Congratulations!

Hi there. I'm 48 and have been slowly losing weight over the past 14 months. I am now down to the last 10 pounds and boy is it slow going (the middle aged thing maybe). I am upping my workouts and strength training. I want to reach my goal! I would love to friend a few committed people to help with accountability and…

Alright. I'm in! What do most people try to burn during each workout? I will have to work up to 3,500 given I usually burn only about 200 per workout right now.
