I am not a woman, so I can't answer from that perspective, but I do a lot of reading and generally speaking if you have an adequate diet you don't need to take any vitamins at all. That being said, I take a pretty beefy multivitamin and I take an additional calcium supplement every evening with my dinner. I don't look at…

Well, my week is over. I pledged 100 miles, I rode 119.2 miles. I am pledging 100 again next week. Hopefully I will get a good head start on it tomorrow. Although it was in another thread, congrats to spyguy on his sub-200 weigh in. That is so significant. I have ten more pounds to go before I get there, and that could be…

That is way cool. You have lost your 'Clyde' status officially! I am looking forward to when I see a weight less than 200 pounds, which hasn't happened for me since at least 1989, maybe earlier than that. It is a long journey, but it is worth it. It is just like re-inventing yourself.

I just rode out to Rocky Reach Dam and back, which was a very nice ride I had only previously ever done in the car. That added just under 27 miles to my running total, so now I am at 109.81 miles, and will almost certainly do 10 miles tomorrow (local loop trail I always ride with my son on weekends). I was actually quite…

I am shooting for 100 again, and already have 83 for the week. My week ends on Saturday, so I have two more days. Should be easy.

Honestly, regardless of what anyone actually says, it really doesn't matter. What does matter is that you actually do it. So, when you ask when the best time to exercise is, the answer is: Pick a time when you are the most likely to be able to exercise.

Don't eat pasta or junk food ;)

I pledged 100 and did 105.12. I also have a good dent in this week from a fun little ride I did this morning. I am pledging 100 again.

My wife has been told the only two exercises she can ever really do are cycling or swimming, and this is due to her knee problems (not hip). But, the same issues apply. You need something with no impact.

I am sticking with 100 for my pledge, even though I missed it by just under three miles last week. I have had to modify my route home to get more miles in since I am getting fewer recreational miles on the weekends. For some reason my 7 year old doesn't want to go crank out 30 miles on a Saturday. Go figure!

Well, how accurate is a Garmin? My weekly mileage, according to the technology, was 97.63 miles. Not quite 100. I debated going around the block a couple of times to meet the pledge amount, but that just seemed silly.

It doesn't matter how many miles you ride, as long as you ride. The miles will come later as long as you keep at it.

It is amazing what some people will throw away. The only thing damaged was probably the frame and handlebars. Everything else was still brand new!

Something you can consider, though it may cost you more than the $10 you spent on the bike itself, is to get some new pedals that aren't so smooth (I am guessing the current ones are smooth plastic) and then they will bite into your shoe and stay in place better. The other option would be if the pedals have straps that…

Like others who have responded, I can't visualize what is going wrong.

It just seems longer ;)

I don't think I formally pledged last week, but I had 87 miles. Either way, I am shooting for 100 miles a week. I have not reliably hit that level yet, but it continues to be my goal.

They have those here at the local Costco as well. They taste pretty good, and since most bread is around 100 calories per slice, having a substitute that is 100 calories per sandwich saves you 100 calories every time you eat one. Not a bad deal (though they are more expensive than bread). An additional benefit, they…

Well, 'The Tour' is over and our local celebrity couldn't capitalize on his last chance for a stage victory. I give them big cudos for at least trying a different strategy, but Columbia was just too strong. As for our weekly stats, I missed my Saturday ride so I only made 87 miles this week.

There is really no way to answer this question. The route you are riding will have a huge impact on how long it takes for anyone to complete. Is it relatively level? Downhill? Uphill? Steep Uphill? Tailwind? Headwind? Extremely hot? What kind of bike? What kind of tires? A host of other variables. Really, does it matter?…

I think today's stage will definitely quiet any of the Lance naysayers.
-
More power to you, but after 'date night' I can't think of a time when 'compiling info' was on my agenda.
-
Anyone watching 'The Tour' regularly probably saw the brief little bit they did on Tyler Farrar's dad, Ed, who was paralyzed after a near fatal accident with an automobile (bicycle vs car frequently favors the car). He is a pillar of the community, so when something like this happens there is an outpouring of support. If…

My mileage for the week was 105. Not enough to make up my 14 mile deficit, but enough to put a dent in it.

I could never do a tri. Well, more accurately I could never do a tri and get any kind of decent time. I really, really am a horrible swimmer. The race would be long over, organizers at home, and I would still be out there bobbing around in the water somewhere.

I did something a little different yesterday. Instead of a road or standard trail ride, I took my son up to some single track trails up in the mountains near here. We didn't get in as many miles as usual, but we got a lot more into each mile. Dirt, sand, rocks, mud, stumps, logs. It was great. It was also very hot…

I am sticking to my 100 mile per week goal. I will also likely make up my deficit from week 2.

I have nothing particularly motivating to share, just to say you aren't alone. I have had entire months where I don't lose a thing and my eating/exercise won't be any different that month than it was the previous when I may have lost ten or more pounds. It is frustrating, but weight loss is not a linear process. If you are…

Well, I didn't make my 100 miles this week. I needed a recreational ride of my own yesterday to round it out, but ended up doing family things instead. So, my weekly tally stands at 86 miles.

Does anyone here use a cyclocomputer to track their rides? I am not all hard-core about it, but I really like the convenience of how it keeps track of my mileage, not to mention how fun it is to compare results from a few months ago to the same ride more recently. Here is a link to one of the routes I take on my commute…
