Thanks skywalker...
Well I pledged 50 and did 62 last week...
This week I pledged 70 but I don't think I will be achieving that because I've been very sick since saturday... O well better luck next week!

Has anybody got an idea of how many calories it is for a fly???

I really must learn to breathe through my nose :ohwell:0 -

Oh well, is the correct attitude.
The flies just go along with the sport. If you're breathing through your nose you can't ride very hard, I know some people who tie a bandana around their face, but I just try to close my mouth when I see a swarm, but in spite of my best efforts I eat an occational fly. Oh well!0 -
Ha!! I've eaten more flies and other bugs on bike rides than I care to admit. :laugh:0

I am shooting for 100 again, and already have 83 for the week. My week ends on Saturday, so I have two more days. Should be easy.0

Hey, I'm at 83 too, so far!!! My week ends Sunday, so I'm considering shooting for 150 again, but to be safe, I'm keeping my pledge at 125
Happy pedaling, everyone!!! :drinker:0 -
I just rode out to Rocky Reach Dam and back, which was a very nice ride I had only previously ever done in the car. That added just under 27 miles to my running total, so now I am at 109.81 miles, and will almost certainly do 10 miles tomorrow (local loop trail I always ride with my son on weekends).
I was actually quite interested in how I would do, so I wore the HRM. There was quite a lot of wind, which kept messing me up as I would get a gust, gear down, then the wind would subside, I would ramp back up again only to have another gust come along and mess up my cadence again. In spite of everything though, I now know I can do that ride no big deal, and if I do it on a more mild day my stats should be better.
I still managed a 14.9mph overall average speed (can I just call that 15mph since it sounds more impressive?). It says my average heart rate was 121bpm, which was lower than I was really expecting, but I think the wind had a lot to do with that. I know after a while I stopped ramping back up in between gusts so I wasn't really working as hard all the time as I normally would.
Other interesting stats (interesting to me anyway). During that particular route I had 1327 ft of ascent. Since I ended up where I started I obviously had the same amount of descent as wellMost of that was in one big hill I have to do up to my house in a two mile stretch.

Hey guys!,
Been out of town for a while. Thanks for keeping things going skywalker. Work is just eating me alive lately!. I'll pledge 40 miles for the week. I'm already well on my way. And I hear ya on the fly eating. I rode through a nice crown of em yesterday.
Happy riding!

Well, my week is over. I pledged 100 miles, I rode 119.2 miles. I am pledging 100 again next week. Hopefully I will get a good head start on it tomorrow.
Although it was in another thread, congrats to spyguy on his sub-200 weigh in. That is so significant. I have ten more pounds to go before I get there, and that could be a few weeks at the rate the weight has been coming off lately. I can't help but notice the less I have to lose, the harder it is getting to do it. When I started this process I would drop several pounds every week without really trying very hard. Now it takes real concerted effort to drop just 1 or 2 pounds in a week. Insane!0 -
Checking in
I pledged 33 miles and i managed to get in 37 miles.
I pledge 33 miles again next week.
