I use nonfat milk and if I want flavor then I sprinkle in cinnamon or nutmeg into my cup. Give me flavor without added calories or artificial sweeteners.

Check out SparkPeople.com They have 10-15 minute videos. Coach Nicole is the one that leads you through the workout and she is great about showing you the beginner way and telling you what to do to challenge yourself more. I will either repeat one video until I hit the minutes I need or string several together. Best of…

This happens to me when I use the elliptical or go for runs. I have searched for years for a solution and what finally helped me was Swiftkick compression socks. Well, it is helping when I run anyway! Since i am training for a half I have not spent time on the elliptical.

It depends on how you use it. The Fitbit does not make you loose weight but it can be a powerful tool in your arsenal. I bought mine on New Years and I challenge myself to walk 10K steps. It helps keep me motivated to move more. I feel it gives me a more realistic view how how much or little I move. I have the Flex which…

6 miles today.

I have found that I am penalized calories in the morning before my more active classes (I am a teacher). Once I have had lunch, taken my lunch break walk, and started my afternoon classes, I get them back. If I hit 10K steps per day, I am given more calories to eat. On the day I was sick, it took away calories because I…

I hit my goal today! I think I can get in at least 10 more miles before the end of the month!

Those are some motivating numbers. I plan on hitting 10K for the 5th day in a row. It is not as easy as some people think it is. I have found that marching in place or doing laps around the wall dividing my kitchen and living room help on days I may fall short. Good luck on your steps today!

5 miles today.

4 miles today with 5 on the plan for tomorrow.

I think I should have set my goal higher . . . .

My doctors have recommended that I follow the American Heart Association's guidelines. I am on Synthroid after having radioactive iodine treatment last March. I track everything I eat and drink. I try to do some form of exercise everyday. My doctor also suggested I take (or have my partner take) a photo of myself once a…

Sparkrecipes does have crockpot recipes using salsa. You can go to their site and search chicken and salsa (or salsa and any other ingredient). One of my favorites is: 1 pound of chicken breast 1 can of black beans 1 jar of salsa Cook in crockpot (We cook it for about 10 hours due to work/commute time) We serve it with…

My endo told me to eat a healthy, balanced diet with plenty of veggies and fruit. She also encouraged me to drink soy milk when my appetite is low so I can get enough calories/protein/calcium. The only thing she told me to limit was unhealthy foods such as processed, fried, high sugars, ect. And even that limitation is to…

This is awesome. Maybe I can scan my beer and have it come up with blueberries!

3.27 miles for the day. I am 1/3 of the way to my goal already.

Giam (sp?)has a great beginners dvd. It includes two separate routines plus an instructional video on poses. When you select the workout you want, you can choose to have the instructional voice over or not. It is a great 20 minute way to get ready for the day or rejuvenate at the end of the day. I find I have fewer issues…

If you go to the progress tab (touch the little stacked lines in the upper left hand corner of the home page) it lists your current weight, starting weight, change, and percent change. To edit the diary, go to the diary page (using the same menu above), click the little pencil at the bottom of the screen, circles will…

I am doing the Rock and Roll half in March, the Hottest Half in August, and I am looking for a full to do in the fall.

Workout of the day done! 3.82 miles today. Bringing this month's total to 6.92.

First race event of the year done!

Love it! My race is not until 10 am.

Me too. Since we plan on going to a restaurant for dinner, that will likely blow my range out of the water. Then throw in cocktails later. But I have eaten very healthy the rest of the day and week so I refuse to feel guilty over one dinner.

That is a long way to go for running shoes. Look on the runners world.com site. They have some articles about how to tell if you are an over/under pronator, gait, ect. They also write articles about which shoes are best for which type of runner. Another idea is to make an appointment with a podiatrist to have your feet…

How long ago was your last treadmill run? After about two weeks off, you start to lose your stamina. Also, the treadmill is not cheating but it does change how you run. It is expected that transitioning to running outside will be a challenge. You also have to factor in hills, temperature/humidity differences. Increasing…

I am in for 30 as well. This is just what I need to get back on track.

I agree with everyone else. First, go see the doctor. Second, go to a RUNNING store. Luke's Locker, Run On, what ever is in your area. A knowledgeable sales person should ask you questions: Where do you run? How far/long do you run? What are your goals? If you are a trail runner or street runner, they should have you run…

I would start at week one. Even if your cardiovascular fitness is prepared for week 4 or 5 does not mean your legs and joints are. If you run too much too fast you risk shin splints, plantar fasciitis, IT band issues, among other things. All of these are caused in part by the jarring of running. By starting at the…
