Preplan your dinner meals out so that you don't go over your calories....

This is pretty small in comparison to others' NSVs, but mine happened today at lunch. I ate less than 1/2 of my lunch - because I felt full! 3 hours later and the only thing I've eaten was a small snack (due to meds I had to take), and I'm still not really hungry! Yay for the little things! And congrats to all of you who…

Hi, I'm Terri. I am 42 years young, am currently at 257.4 pounds, and live in Southeast Wisconsin. My job is primarily sedentary, with a lot of data entry/answering phones. I am joining this challenge to give myself an added incentive to continue on my weight loss journey. Due to some physical limitations and illnesses, I…

My daughter is a Girl Scout, and we've just started doing presales today. I will not be buying as many boxes as I have in the past, but will do the Cookie Share for my daughter to reach her goals. The monies collected for that will give cookies to Military personnel and/or a local organization. It's hard to resist GS…

We all have days like that! It's best that you're owning and logging it.

I've recently been diagnosed with Basilar type migraines. It took over 7 months to get diagnosed, and several medications through trial and error. With my meds regulated, I'm able to function fairly normally, though do have a flare-up from time to time. In addition to that, I also have digestion issues, so figuring out my…

My most recent moment was downright scary for me. Amid other medical issues I was being seen for that have sidelined me for the past several months, one blood test done in the mix came back showing that I am pre-diabetic. So my physician told me in no uncertain terms that if I do NOT lose weight, I WILL have diabetes in…

I'm curious as to why those of you who state they don't log milk used do that. I try to log everything that passes my lips, regardless of if it's one piece of candy or a cup of coffee with cream and sugar.

I do that swing thing myself, but no matter how awful I eat in a day, I know that tracking all of it will help me see where to make changes and taking small steps will help me. I had been down 35 pounds and have now put 20 of it back on - for a variety of reasons, but one that I know is not tracking everything and not…

Yes - twice! Have you ever lied to your parents?

Congrats to your dad! As a former runner, I know how much dedication that takes. I'm hoping to get back to my former abilities again myself. Wonderful goal! This is definitely a great network of support. Check the message boards, and befriend those with similar goals. That's the best advice I can give you. And good luck!

I'll be getting mine today through my work. Why - because I cannot afford to get that ill and I am missing two lymph nodes to fight off infections.

I agree on the honeycrisps! Divine! Also a newer apple variety - sweet tango! I'm experimenting with mixing different fruits for my morning smoothies, and one combo I love is pineapple, banana, and blueberry! Now if I could only keep the bananas in my house long enough.... :p

Great goals! Mine are less fitness based and more diet based right now due to physical limitations, but those mini-goals are a great way to restart!
-
Both recipes sound delicious! Starting on a GF journey, so I'll definitely be trying these!

I agree that planning ahead helps a lot. When I plan my meals ahead, I can see what snacks I can enjoy (some days it may be strictly fruit, other days I may be able to enjoy something a little sweeter). When I don't pre-plan (and I think we all have those days at times), I usually am way over.

In for recipe ideas!

I'm using that same philosophy now. Every morsel of food and every ounce of liquid that passes my lips is now getting logged! Now if I am unable to log due to lack of technology (such as a cruise), that's different. But outside of that - I'll be logging!
-
I agree - add a salad (the salad addition ones are great for this!) or extra veggies. Stay away from the pasta ones - they are much higher in sodium than some of the others.

I definitely would say that if this doesn't work out for you, or only relieves it temporarily, talk to your doctor. I'm experiencing gastrointestinal issues myself, and am quite versed in the varying colonoscopy preps, and am working now with a specialty GI doctor. Good luck!

Jumping on here to suggest something I didn't see above. Aldi's has a GF line which is MUCH less expensive than other stores I've seen. They don't have bread (at least at my Aldi's), but they have lots of basic substitutes, including snacks and rice.

While not a recipe, a suggestion for some basic items to have on hand would be hitting Aldi's. They have a GF line that is MUCH less expensive than some of the other grocery stores around. Another good place to go to is Woodman's if you have one near you. I'm gradually converting over to a gluten-free diet myself due to…

For me it is about my health, as well as becoming more active. I want my daughter growing up with a health role model - not one that sits around and doesn't do anything to better themselves.

Great job!

I've bought a few new things for myself (Salvation Army/Goodwill, as well as clearance racks), but I also have gained a lot of my "thin-spirational" wardrobe from my best friend, who had dropped nearly 100 pounds over the past couple of years (and had gotten clothes from another friend). As I "undergrow" clothes, I pass…

^^This^^ I had tried a few of the fad diets (including Slim-Fast), but one of two things always happened - I ended up eating more as they were not filling, and/or I gained the weight back on as soon as I was done with it. MFP has given me structure in seeing what I need (aka macros) and I love the feedback and support when…
