  • No one knows the details. I have made small comments about self control, being healthier, fitness goals... But never specifically about the struggle or binges. Binges are way more than just a slip up here and there, it's not a normal pattern of eating. Its hard to come clean with abnormal behavior like that - especially…
  • On the topic of "forbidden foods" -- I feel like normalizing them is better than banning them. I've had foods like that, and still do at times. Foods I say are "bad" and they're foods I act like I am not "allowed" to have. Then, when I have a "bad" day -- I overeat on those foods. But I don't enjoy them that much. Now,…
  • I think it can be informative even if dieting didnt happen first for you. It talks a lot about how habits develop and how to change them.
  • 4/18/16 Me: 1 The Binge: 1 Thanks, Cynsonya :)
  • I have not counted the number of binges I've had this month -- but it has been out of control frequently. I am coming here to start logging my days (starting today, the 17th, because I don't have the count for the start of this month). Me: 0 The Binge: 1 I am hoping that logging on daily to record my status here will help…
  • To answer your question, it is definitely okay to eat 1 or 2 daily. It won't harm you at all or affect your goals. I often eat bananas and peanut butter and it hasn't made weight loss harder. The main concern should be following your daily calorie goal and staying active. The types of foods you eat aren't that important in…
  • For some people, "cheat days" can be a binge trigger. I've found cheats never turn out good for me, I feel like it is a word that makes me feel desperate to experience as many "banned foods" as I can before I have to eat "good" again. For me, I find having a free meal works better -- which only means it's a meal I don't…
  • I agree with the OP, I feel like it affects many areas of my personal and work life. I like how you've mentioned opening up to close family/friends. I think that making it known would make it less likely to binge privately; especially if you had to tell someone after for accountability. I hope that one day I am at a place…
  • Very well put. In the end it's a calorie deficit, but if there is a certain dietary plan that helps you avoid unhealthy eating patterns, by all means that is the best plan to be on. Sometimes it takes experimenting with macro nutrients and finding what makes you feel satisfied without going over the set calorie goal.
  • I bought groceries this morning and decided to try mixing a few dry ingredients to create a 321 microwave dessert. I won't mention anything else (to prevent triggering anyone) but I lost control with this easy recipe and decided that I have to throw away the mix or else it will be sitting there next time I have an urge.…
  • Why do I feel like everyone around me can tell the difference in how I look/act when I have a healthy eating day vs when I have a binge? No one has said anything but I don't feel like seeing people on binge days. I feel like I look 100x heavier.
  • I tell myself after a certain time also. I'll tell myself to take a walk or shower first, both being far away from food. The best thing for me to do is go see someone else and hang out... because I will likely not overindulge in front of someone. I might not make healthy choices if we go out to eat, but I won't eat…
  • I can relate. When things don't go as planned for me or I feel overwhelmed, I go to emotional eating. I realize it doesn't solve a problem but it helps me escape it for a short amount of time. I think it's something triggered by anxiety. Maybe you can find another activity that gives you a sense of control? Some people…
  • I have had very few binges this month, at most I have had 4. But this week has been tough. Yesterday I binged and today I've exceeded my calories and it's only 9AM (it feels like it's been a binge day but I'm unsure of if I classify it as one or not) I see this binges as a warning that something needs to be fixed or…
  • Sounds good. :)
  • I'm at a point where I can't afford to order any new tea, and mine is a bit low too. I haven't used all my loose leaf tea yet but I'm not drinking it daily either (in the past I'd drink several cups a day lol). This summer I discovered yet another tea that I like; I found a Jasmine tea at a local Asian market. I didn't…
  • I've cut back on sugar in the past, I can understand what you mean by tasting the flavors to the fullest. Adagio is pretty decent :) I haven't ordered from them recently but I'm a member so I can use it anytime. I enjoy tea sites that allow you to earn points. Thanks for sharing your favorites!
  • Do you like almonds? I love almonds, and the first time I tried almond butter I enjoyed it because it tastes like my favorite nut. I don't think it's something that you get used to, you either like it or you don't. But maybe you could try almond butter with other added flavors, try it on different things... Maybe it just…
  • Me: 7 The Binge: 1 I've been doing decent as of recently, staying within my calorie goal and eating healthy. Today I wanted to take a morning walk before work but my phone was completely dead and I didn't want to go without my music, podcasts, and stop watch. I put it on the charger. So... I stayed at the apartment and…
  • That sounds really good.
  • I like mixing vodka with zero calorie beverages. It's a good idea if you're watching calories.
  • I'm going to check out your blog. :)
  • Do you remember what type you tried? Did you add any sweetener or cream? You should totally check out the local store!
  • I haven't tried the iced coffee at Dunkin Donuts. I've gotten the sugar free iced coffee at mcdonalds before, it's not bad. I've also made iced coffee at home, but what type of coffee you brew makes a HUGE difference. It seems like some coffees aren't meant to be iced. When I make it at home I add half and half with…
  • Have you tried loose leaf tea at all? For someone just getting into tea, if you don't even know what type you favor (black, white, green, oolong, herbal, chai, etc) I would suggest going to one of the websites suggested and ordering samples from a few different categories. Just trying them out can help you discover which…
  • The most recent package I ordered from Tea Guys included a small sample of Pu-erh, so I tried it today. It was pretty strong, but I have to say that I liked it. I added a small amount of stevia to it (as I usually do with my teas) but I didn't add any cream because I felt like I wouldn't experience the full flavor with…
