Are there really deeper issues tied to BED?
Hi, I am in the middle of reading Brain Over Binge for the first time, and I am amazed at how differently she looks at the problem as compared to other popular ideas. Most say there are always underlying issues causing the binges -- such as loneliness, guilt, boredom, failure, happiness, stress, etc. She said she spent…

Depo-provera
Hi, I just got a Depo-provera injection today and after reading about possible side effects, I am a bit worried. I asked questions before getting the injection (they said there isn't much negative side effects besides lower calcium levels -- which I can solve/prevent by eating dairy or taking a supplement). Has anyone else…

The sites I've tried are: Tea Source Adagio Tea Guys All have been excellent with price and quality... Tea Guys being my favorite.…

Can overweight people learn to do handstands
Yes, the title of this topic might sound funny. I want to be more flexible and strong... I think it'd be nice practicing to do a headstand and then a handstand. I would need a lot of core and arm strength... This link shows a bit how to practice with yoga moves. http://www.fitsugar.com/How-Do-Headstand-Yoga-18931450…

Do you ever feel nauseated?
I binged this weekend on rich foods and today I feel nauseated. It doesn't help that I had errands to run in a different city and drove a few hours. Last week after a binge day I felt the same way, and I actually puked after driving over an hour that day. The car vibrating while driving was making my stomach slowly feel…

Rising after the fall.
I have noticed I have posts made specifically for when we are tempted to self sabotage and threads of encouragement but I have not posted anything that gives you all a place of comfort after the binge or after the self sabotage. Here is a specific thread for it, now! This is a pretty simple thing; but I think it could help…

Feel like self sabotaging? Come here.
Find out what your mind is telling you. What is making that binge trigger food look so good when you're not hungry? Is it even hunger or cravings...? Is it your mindset? ("I already messed up my diet, today is a "cheat" day!" "Ugh, I can't make it to my goal weight anyway, I might as well give up. The scale isn't looking…

Victory
Okay... this is small, and to some it wouldn't be considered a victory considering I went OVER my calorie goal and a good 500 ish over my TDEE - But to me it is progress.. more the mindset and reaction. * My calorie goal today was 1,800 (based on the hour workout ) leaving me a deficit to lose 1lb per week... so my TDEE…

Are there any foods(triggers) you have completely given up?
I know this gets asked on the message boards... and then everyone replies "life style changes. I don't give up anything!" While I know this is true, & good for them... just asking on here in the BED group. I know others struggle with binges, and maybe keeping certain trigger foods in the house would be hard for recovery.…

Do you think this would help?*includes food names/trigger
Some people tell me if you message a friend about what you want to eat at the moment (exp: Nutella - sorry, I'm not trying to mention too many foods , I don't want to trigger people... but I'm trying to show an example) Today I was doing good, eating reasonable meals... not really restricting much.. then I had a couple…

Online meetings - Where?
I just recently joined this group... I can't go to a face-to-face meeting at the moment because the closest is an hour away from me. I'd like to try out a few online ones.... but on the OA official site, I couldn't get the locator thing to work when I was trying to find an online meeting. I googled it, and went to one…

Can you relate?
On a webpage describing binge eating disorder... they explained some reasoning behind why a person binges: "binge eating is motivated by a desire to escape from self-awareness. Binge eaters suffer from high standards and expectations, especially an acute sensitivity to the difficult (perceived) demands of others. When they…

Do binges ever make your face break out more
I rarely ever get pimples, my face is pretty clear.... but when I have 2-4 binge days in a row, seems I start getting bad skin.... it clears up later - but it seems like the binges are what cause it. I guess it's just the overload of fats/sugars that isn't good for my skin? Maybe I'm the only one who has this happen.

The Hollow Men
“…Our dried voices, when We whisper together Are quiet and meaningless As wind in dry grass Or rats' feet over broken glass In our dry cellar Shape without form, shade without color, Paralyzed force, gesture without motion; Those who have crossed With direct eyes, to death's other Kingdom Remember us -- if at all -- not as…

Thinning hair while losing weight?
I've been on this site for a few months calorie counting. I have started noticing my hair is thinner. I've had hair loss before while losing weight.... and I don't know why. Is it because of stress? I take a multivitamin everyday and I thought that would make me avoid hair thinning. it's just when I am brushing, showering,…

The longer I am binge free, the stronger I am
When I went almost 2 weeks binge free, I felt like I was in charge. Each day I woke up feeling confident that I would stay within allotted calories... the urges slowly felt smaller and weak, I was able to kick butt. Now, I've slipped into the spiral of binges once again. I had 2 binge days, then Sunday wasn't a binge... I…
