  • Yes, that was good. Thanks for posting it!
  • Other than age, we are twins. I am 5'6" weigh 132 and have a goal weight of 124 also. I am 67, though.
  • Excellent post - and an excellent article. I've been telling people who suggest I try gluten-free products (I have a wheat intolerance) that they often have worse things in them than the regular versions. Paleo treats are in the same category for me.
  • How is it going Paisans? I was on an anti-inflammatory diet a year ago that was even stricter than Sarah's AIP and it was amazing. In just a month I found I was not tired all the time, my aches and pains were radically diminished and I lost some weight I had been trying to get rid of. I even went off the pain meds I was…

  • I have a type of rheumatoid arthritis and have been using the collagen powder for several months. I can't really tell if it is really making a difference or not. I suspect that my diet and use of bone broth are probably having more of an effect. I will probably test that by going off of it when this container is gone.
  • Diet has been the main thing that has reduced my pain from Palindromic Rheumatism. I was eating mostly Paleo for a year or so, but still had bad bouts of joint and muscle pain. Then last January my new rheumatologist suggested an anti-inflammatory diet. It was extremely restricted, but I stuck to it for a month, only ate…

  • I am 66 and have been on MFP for a couple of years during which I have lost 25 pounds. I think I weigh less now than I ever have since becoming an adult, and I have been struggling with my weight all of my life. I was recently told I have an autoimmune disease so have been put on a strict anti-inflammatory elimination diet…
  • I cook it in the microwave and it comes out great.
  • I have had good luck with the AIP as well, though mine is even more restrictive than many online and was given me by my rheumatologist. It includes vinegars and things containing yeast, citrus and strawberries, red meat, and caffeine in addition to the usual gluten, dairy, nightshade, and alcohol. It has non-gluten grains…
  • Wonderful post! Just keep going is my mantra.
  • Hi, here is my story...I have been struggling with stiff, sore joints and unexplained pain for about a year and a half. I was told I have fibromyalgia some time ago, but have always had doubts about that. A year ago in September I had a severe flareup in both of my wrists and hands and was told I had pseudo gout. Last May…
  • I've basically been maintaining for several months now. I would like to lose another 2 pounds., but my body seems to like the weight I am now, so I am not really trying very hard to lose at this point. My weight fluctuates several pounds either up or down on a daily basis, so I watch the weekly average more. Most of the…
  • eggs chicken fish (salmon & tilapia) avocados spinach peppers (green, red, orange, yellow) mushrooms berries (blueberries, strawberries) olives oil (olive & coconut) Hard to whittle it down!
  • I totally agree. We've been eating lots of fresh produce from the farmer's market, too, and try to stay away from anything processed. There's nothing like the taste of fresh fruits and vegetables, and we eat a lot of food. No deprivation here!
  • You can add me if you wish. I eat a fairly low carb, whole food diet that helps me maintain my weight loss and also helps control my blood sugar levels.
  • I just finished The Whole 30 program last Thursday but I haven't been able to do the reintroduction part yet since I had to take a break for a colonoscopy. Tomorrow I will be getting back to it. Basically, the Whole 30 is a fairly restrictive food plan that is based on a Paleo-type diet with a few differences. It made a…
  • i am 5'6" and have lost 22 pounds in the past year on MFP. No pictures, but I went from 154 down to 132, found my waist again, and feel terrific. I am working on losing 2 more pounds since I am aiming for 130.
  • Mine was 90 so I am pleased.
  • I have 6 more days of the Whole 30 program to go and have successfully managed my weight by tracking with MFP. I was close to Paleo for at least six months prior to that. I am older (no kids at home), am not able to exercise very much at the moment due to a running injury, and close to my weight goal. My diary is open, but…
  • I've been using Thai Kitchen curry paste that comes in a jar, but i have also used some in packets. I usually use the red curry paste, but i also keep the green on hand. It has the consistency of tomato paste, only thicker. The green has chili pepper in it and the red has some other red peppers, but I don't think any…

  • I use it primarily in recipes, usually with curry paste. Sometimes I use an actual recipe, other times I just improvise with whatever ingredients I have on hand (meat, chicken, shellfish with a lot of vegetables).

  • I usually have between 70 and 100 grams a day. This seems to work for me since my last A1C was 5.5, the lowest it has been in years. However, I think it varies with the individual.
  • Need to save this thread. Looks like some good references.
  • I'm halfway into my 3rd week of Whole 30. The first week was rough as I had a headache and intestinal pains, gas, etc., that kept me awake at night, but after that it all stopped and I have felt great ever since - other than a hip injury and now a painful ankle (cause undetermined yet). Good luck with it!
  • One to Alaska and one in the Greek Isles.
  • Florence, Italy for a summer many years ago - studying the art of the Renaissance where it all began, and having the Uffizi Gallery all to ourselves on the day it was closed. (Also visited Rome, Sienna, Venice) Greece, several Greek Islands and Rhodes - wonderful Minoan archaeological sites and beautiful Byzantine…
  • I am hoping to get to China sometime during this next year. Some other places I would like to go to are the Croatian coast, Petra, and the Galapagos.
  • Yes, pain and other physical issues are certainly motivation for sticking with it. You can do this! I am on day 13 and made it through having my dad and stepmother to dinner last night. I cooked a healthy dinner, but there were drinks and snacks beforehand and chocolate treats at the end, all of which are temptations for…
  • Thanks for posting that article. It reiterates what I was beginning to suspect from what I have read and from my experience. I recently injured my hip and I'm not able to do much in the way of exercise, but I am now finding that my weight is once again going down slowly but surely.
  • I was stuck for many months also, but I felt good having lost 20 pounds and a size or two, so I wasn't too concerned about it...figured I'd get motivated to lose more at some point, but no rush. I'm currently not quite halfway through the Whole 30 program which I began, not really to lose weight but to try to reduce…
