This is terrible, I go to crossfit and my coach DOES NOT do this. This is painful to watch and VERY dangerous.

For women who don't do much exercise it's recommended to eat about 0.8g per kg (or 0.4 per pound), and about 1.5 g per kg if you are exercising (1g - 1.5 g per lb) http://www.livestrong.com/article/354510-normal-suggested-amount-of-fat-protein-intake-for-women/ You can use this calculator to determine your protein needs…

You are doing awesome. It really shows in your face.

Jumping rope and running are the best calorie burners.

Ok neat.

In Canada the labels look like this, so I'm guessing it's total carbs is 13 and net is 10? Am I reading it right? This is from Canada labeling website "The amount of carbohydrates in the Nutrition Facts table includes fibre, starch and sugars. Fibre and sugars must be listed under carbohydrates. Starch is optional, which…

I understand how it's calculated. What I'm confused about is how it applies to a low carb diet when I'm aiming for <30g a day.
-
Starchy carbs (vegetables high in carb content) are foods like corn, potato, squash, beans, etc. Other type carbs which come from vegetables with lower carb content are from foods like cucumber, brocolli, green leafy veggies (spinach, lettuce), celery, mushrooms, peppers, cabbage, radishes, avocado. The % really depends on…

I have a hyperactive thyroid but it's stabalized about a year ago. When I was getting it stabalized and went on the meds I gained a tonn of weight quickly but it's finally starting to come off. So far the only thing that worked for me was a low carb diet (low GI). I tried a lot of exercise and 40/30/30f diet and that…

I had a membership at the Y and never once did anyone approach me to help with anything. Basically it was serve yourself attitude. Whenever I did ask one of the staff they just showed me really quick and sounded like they were bothered to help. I do feel the fee is a bit steep but I love learn how to weight lift properly.…

I pay $180/month for the gym I go to. They don't have all the fancy stuff that YMCA does (only weights and floor space) but you get instructors that know what they are talking about and there is only 6 people per class. So it's almost like having a personal trainer 4-5 days a week. You get what you pay for.

I wonder the merit of this study wondering how they measured calories burned. Are they assuming there was no change in physical effort exerted after informing one group of calories burned? It could be they were actually working harder knowing they were burning so many calories!

My bad.

Good one. I see what he says about the faults in the study. I don't understand this statement "I treated protein and carbohydrate as independent variables in my analysis. However, because low carbohydrate diets are usually high in protein, the two are not truly independent" since during the 2004 study he kept it flat at…

Hmm... this study says the cause for cardiovascular problems was resulting from increase in protein. I wonder how it would change if you increased fat intake instead of protein? Is there a study with that?
-
No probs. This is one holds protein steady so the only variables are fat and carbs.
-
But they both ate 115 grams of protein is is 26%.
-
I just found this, interesting. Note that all the people who ate moderate amount of carbs ~100 still lost weight, just a different pace than low carbers. Please note, protein in all groups was the same at 115g. It's also safe to say that ~100 carb diet will be more sustainable in the long run than 30 carb. "The perception…

I'm curious, which parts are you referring to? I think there were a few that were unsupported but majority of key points were.

Nice, the price is reasonable too. I will look into this.

I had headaches etc when I did keto diet first time (couple of months ago) and was also eating way too little before. I'm wondering if eating too little is what caused the headaches. I had craving first day when I started on Monday but I feel fine today on day 3. I wonder if my protein is off then and not really in…

This is wrong. Fiber usually comes from things with carbs and has calories.
-
If you are going over on fiber you are most likely high in carbs. You should probably find a balance between the two. A lof of people use the following macro 40 carb/40protein/20 fat There is a lot of debate on this, but if you are trying to lose weight it's best to limit fruit to one serving a day or substitute with…

How long does it take to reach ketosis? Couple of days? I think I read somewhere that you have to be very consistent with low carbs for at least a couple of weeks or you won't achieve ketosis for long enough to get any effects.
-
Thanks. So 30 g is my max with 20% cut off TDEE? This may be hard lol
-
Ok I tried what you suggested Dree and for my TDEE it says 30g of carbs. I'm wondering what is the max carbs I can eat per day so I maintain ketosis.
-
I wouldn't mind being a Medium either (spirit talker)

Haha pretty weird.
