i eat something before a workout. usually a cup of coffee and a banana. if it's going to be a long cardio workout i might have a piece of toast and a slice of peanut butter as well. if it's going to be a REALLY long cardio workout, i'll have a big bowl of oatmeal with some fixin's, but if i eat that i also give my stomach…

i've been using recipes from budgetbytes.com for a while.

their are two types of runners: injured, and recovering. lol you'll get no sympathy from me, as it's part of being an athlete. i'm currently nursing a shoulder that was separated, and i'm completely sidelined in the middle of my race-prep season. previous years have seen me with sprained ankles, achilles tendinitis, and…

check out budgetbytes.com many quick and simple dishes and many crockpot dishes. i use my slow cooker on my days off to make large batches of meals.

i don't know if i have anything really meaningful to add at the moment, except to remember to not let the tail wag the dog. you've said you have other priorities besides training, e.g. your kids and work. so if you have to miss a workout because of those, miss it. in any training plan, your goal should be to complete 90%…

great thread, following.

sign up for a race. it'll keep you focused.

you are missing my point. what can a thirty year old and an eighteen year old really have in common?
-
you want to know something about the "banging hot toned tight and dayum good looking" 28 year olds?? they're not lazy. they meal prep, they say no to an extra serving or a high calorie treat, and they're at the gym busting their hump.
-
what kind of thirty year old dates an 18 year old?? you guys can't even have a drink together.

don't sweat your heart rate too much. remember that a comfortable pace is one where you can hold a conversation with someone next to you.

usually about 4-8 hours, depending on the time of year. sometimes as much as ten hours in a week.

when i stopped full time lifting and started full time triathlon training, i was still eating like a lifter, i.e. doing Intermittent Fasting. i still do occasional fasted cardio, but with the 16 hour fast i just didn't have the energy i needed, and i started eating a lot more carbs.

if i'm on vacation with cell service, yes i do log.

you might have to do it the old fashioned way, i.e. keep track of how many loops you do and the time it takes you to do it, and enter it manually.

i find that i enjoy eating something early in the day. overall, i eat kinda like a hobbit, with 5-7 "meals" a day. but you know, as a 6-foot-3 and 210 lbs triathlete i probably have a lot more calorie wiggle room than a lot of people.

thats not the only thing gigantic right now, if you know what i mean...

I bet you also want to be surprised with a car in the driveway on Christmas morning, right?? Without any concern about how much any of this cost or finances etc etc. Grow up.

i don't like cliff shots on my runs. GUs are better, but my prefered source of nutrition on my runs are usually liquids such as Hammer Heed energy powder.

i tried the light beer route for a bit, couldn't do it. stick to full flavored full calorie beers, and just drink less. pro-tip, to help me learn self control, i would only put 2-3 beers in the fridge, the rest would be in the pantry. so that way, i would only drink the cold beers, and couldn't go for more.

i've gone on numerous long runs and bike rides where i have had to take in very little to no amount of water. it really depends on how well you stay hydrated before your event.

i run outside. while i didn't run during the blizzard, i ran the day after. i also ran this past sunday when it was 1 degree out and windy. it has not been that cold out to work out. and i'm not picking on you, but the people that always say it's too cold to go running never seem to have a problem getting dressed to go out…

no, the weather has not been insanely cold. i live in brooklyn, and the weather has been great. yes, we've had some cold days, but for the most part this has been a very mild winter. I run 2-3 times a week outside. and it's never too cold to go to the gym. get some warmer clothes and get outside! :)

idk, ask jason?

smoothies retain most fiber and nutrients. you're thinking of juicing.
