Honestly? I'm not really convinced that Activia has any special pro-biotics in it that make it better than other yogurts. I started eating only Stonyfield Farm yogurt for awhile, and now only eat Cultural Revolution yogurt from a local organic dairy. I'm not sure how far and wide their distribution is. My other complaint…

I started it (for the 3rd time) yesterday. My first piece of advice would be to take it slow. The last time I started it (during a crazy humid heat wave in Iowa), I did week 1 two weeks in a row. It took me that long to feel comfortable with those running times. I have an android phone, I love the C25K app, it just rings…

I go back and forth. I started drinking Diet Pepsi in 1997. Gave it up completely from around May 2009 for almost a year, then slowly worked it back in. I'm cutting it out again. I simply feel better without it. Without aspartame my sugar cravings and my hunger levels both decrease. Diet Pepsi is the only place I was…

I find that a brisk walk or a workout helps me fight fatigue better than naps. Naps often leave me feeling worse than before.

I recommend checking the schedule on your local PBS station. On the station where I work we air a couple of different exercise programs. One is Body Electric: http://www.bodyelectrictv.com/ Another is Classical Stretch: http://www.classicalstretch.com/ These are both great programs and we receive wonderful feedback from…

First, I can't wait to lose the last 3 pounds of my 2-year-old's pregnancy weight. Then, the last 20 pounds of my six-year-old's pregnancy weight!! I also can't wait to finally flatten this stretched out pregnancy belly a bit! Oh! And I simply cannot wait until it's time to go back the consignment shop and buy a pair of…

I have a tendency to get on and off until I get the same number twice. The other day I got four different numbers, w/in a five-pound range before I got any of them twice. I also started taking measurements two weeks ago. I'm taking them again tonight. Someone else talked about setting a clothing size as your goal. I like…

Amen to that sister! I haven't wasted my money on so-called diet or sugar-free foods for quite some time. I'd rather have one made from scratch brownie than most anything else out there. Not to mention how ridiculously overpriced it all is considering the crap it's made with.

Portions at Cheesecake Factory are huge! I wouldn't worry about it too much. It sounds like you've been eating pretty healthy overall. Occasional treats are just fine.

I know someone who tried, and she just about went crazy trying to cancel. None of the supposed phone numbers to cancel it worked. They took quite a bit of money before she could get it stopped.

I don't live in the trees, either. I shop at Fareway and Hy-Vee.

I took my measurements for the first time last week Monday. I'm planning to take them again this Monday. I have not entered them here, but I should.

In my personal experience, the only time I retain water is when I'm not drinking enough in the first place. If I'm not drinking enough, then my body just holds on to every drop it gets.

Fresh fruit, fresh veggies, single servings of almonds, walnuts, whole grains, oatmeal, all of these are good for you. There is little to be found wrong with any of these, assuming they aren't processed versions, such as instant oatmeal, fruit snacks, etc. I'm glad you have moved away from really junky snacks. I too used…

One more question: I bought my DVDs from Craigslist, so while I have the entire set, I don't have the suggested workout schedule that comes with it. I found this on the Internet: http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20070529190118AAi13Ph Does that look accurate? Does anyone still have the suggested workout plan? I…

I sometimes wonder if I'm doing the "tuck, tilt, tighten" method correctly. I'm sweating. It is a high-energy workout for me, but my abs seldom feel like they've done any work.

Comparing his drinking to your struggles with houscleaning is grasping at straws at best, and just simply pathetic. I'm married to a recovering drug addict. He smoked weed when we started dating, and I knew that. Shortly after our son was born in 2003 he ramped up to cocaine. He quit his job in January of 2005, and it…

Wonderful tips! Thank you so much! I've been having a heck of a time cooking fish lately. Baking or on the stove has just not been turning out. But! I've been thawing it in the sink in cold water, still wrapped up, but I'm sure that's part of my problem right there. I'll just work on a little more planning. I've seen great…

I gave up pop right before Memorial Day, and I have felt so much better w/o it in my life. I used to drink a 32-ounce fountain pop of Diet Pepsi almost every day. I have pretty much completely eliminated all artificial sweeteners, no aspartame, no splenda, none of it. So that eliminates all of the Crystal Light packets,…

There's some great information here about the importance of water. I drink a good amount of water, but I used to have a minimum of 32 ounces of Diet Pepsi a day, every day. I had my last full serving of Diet Pepsi before Memorial Day weekend this year and haven't had any aspartame since. Not knowingly, anyway. I've noticed…

Thank you for this. And that point about understanding nutrition, so very important. I have a long way to go, but I'm learning. Nutrition is why I quit going to the WW meetings I used to attend. It became a group of people who spent the meeting talking about how the find the most crap/junk food for the least amount of…

Thanks for the Mark Bittman book recommendation. I've placed a hold request on it at my library. I'm #8 in the waiting list.

anastacha63--Those pics just blew me away! To everyone who posted pictures--Thank you so much! I am doing this for me. I am tired of my weight and feeling so yucky. All of these photos are such an inspiration.

My mom reacts to soy, and the reaction is digestion related. That enzyme must be the reason. She has to avoid a LOT of products out there. My DH has Grave's disease and I just recently read that people on medications for thyroid issues shouldn't be eating much soy.

Thanks folks. Where is a good place to find a HRM?

I have a bike I bought at Target that my BIL had in his possession for several years. (Long story) Anyway, I have it back now. My six-year-old loves to ride his bike, so I'm riding with him. I'm woefully out of shape though, so I was pretty excited when I did 1 mile the other day! I'm working on it. I forgot what a…

I've cut all artificial sweeteners out of my diet and have noticed a reduced appetite and fewer sugar cravings. Don't know if they're connected, but that's what I've noticed.

I bring some almonds. Right now I'm snacking on some Stoneyfield Farms low-fat yogurt. I also keep some Laughing Cow cheese in the fridge here and I have some high-grain/fiber crackers for that. Hummus is good, you can dip veggies, or those crackers.

Very interesting article. I just ate some almonds for a snack at 10:30 and am saving my fruit for this afternoon. I'll be sure to reverse that tomorrow.

Good for you! That's awesome!!
