Finding balance between my excercise schedule and home and work has been tough for me too. I have stressed work and family relationships in the process for sure. But, like someone else said, just try and make it up to your friend in some way if you want/can. But, if she is a friend, she should understand what this race and…

Great job! I did my first half this year too around the same pace. It was a great feeling. Congrats!

Thanks for the suggestion - I will check out the "motiontrax".

Sarah, as a follow up I wanted to let you know that the treadmill "pacing" I did really paid off. On Thanksgiving, I ran a 4.5 mile "Drumstick Dash" at a pace of 9:19. My first 7 miles of my half earlier this month was at 10:01 pace. So, as much as I hate them, I would recommend using the treadmill to experiment with…

I have a Nathan water bottle holder, but mostly I carry a .5L spring water bottle with me (I keep a couple of flip-caps from other bottles for eady access). It fits nicely in my hand and doesn't require a belt. This works for up to 10M for me. for my Half-marathon, I just supplemented by using a few of the water stops. HTH.

No official plan, but I have been running 3x/week for much of 2011. Over the summer and fall I did my cross-training on mountain and road bikes. This winter I place to add swimming, spinning (in place of the bike) and kick boxing. For my run, I will be doing 5K-5K-5M with an occasional 7M instead of of the 5M to keep me…

Awesome! Way to go!

My first couple of 5Ks in April and May where in the 13-14 min/mi range. Over the last months I have picked up quite a bit. My 10K in Sept and Half earlier this month were both around 10.5 min/mi. In the past few weeks, I have been back on the treadmill with colder weather and I am using it to push myself on speed. My last…

Regulate breathing...don't drink too much, yet I have found that too little water can cause me to cramp as well.

Agree with everyone so far. BMI sucks! I am still obese for another 14 lbs and then I will still be overweight for the next beyond that!

I guess I am technically an Ovo-lacto Pescetarian. I was a Vegan for most of the first year, but added fish, dairy and eggs over time. This has been my diet for the last 16 years. Happy to have other "veggie" friends!

Pizza.....no, wait - Ice Cream.....no, wait - Pizza...

Awesome transformation! You should be very proud no matter what the f'd up BMI scale says!

Awesome job! That other guy doesn't even look like you!

Thanks and congrats on your 5K!! That is where I started back in April. Keep up the great work!

Thanks! Glad to hear there was another IMM runner on here! Congrats on your race and your transformation!!

Simply awesome job! Best wishes and congrats!

I a mostly veggie for 16 years (I eat fish and eggs) and my diary is open. Feel free to ad me as well!

Thanks to everyone for all of the nice comments and encouragement. It was a great race and I broke PRs for 5k, 5-mile, 10k, 7-mile and farthest distance. Thanks for all of the inspiration from friends and acquaintances here on MFP!
