  • In 2013 I placed 2nd for my age group in a bikini competition after losing around 40 pounds. I've almost gained all of it back. I've been eating emotionally and I relapsed after 7 years of sobriety. I haven't had a drink in 18 months now and I'm finally finding motivation to get back on track with my health. I'm aiming for…
  • Sorry, I'm tired and I didn't really answer your questions. I didn't have a trainer officially. I did hire a posing coach towards the end and it was a very smart move. I did a lot of research and left myself plenty of preparation time to experiment with my body to see what macro proportions worked best for me. My downfall…
  • I did my first one this year. Having that goal date made all of the difference for me. Plus I had a blast the whole day. It is wild!
  • Glad you're here and sharing! I'd love to be of support and keep up with your progress. Keep us posted! I just did my first bikini comp. I may go for figure next october depending on how my bulking goes this winter. Good luck!
  • Thanks Ruthie! I was wondering the same thing. My goal for this winter is to build a new bootay!!! I've never really had one so I'm excited!
  • egg whites can be stirred into or hidden in all kinds of things! I love them in my oats just so long as I flavor the oats well (stevia, vanilla extract [thank you Vicky!] and I use a sugar free liquid creamer called Italian Sweet Cream, SOOOOOO YUMMY!)
  • How's it going guys? Yesterday I did my squats with the smith machine and 20lbs. This evening I found on HIIT a wild version of the 30 day challenge so I adapted tonight's squats accordingly. Check it out: http://www.dailyhiit.com/hiit-blog/hiit-workout/butt-exercises/tight-*kitten*-30-day-squat-challenge/
  • Mmmmmm Brown rice with a side of brown rice. Yum. I'm looking forward to this carb loading day. I was going to give it a whirl about 4 weeks out to see how my body will handle the day before the comp diet. Good idea Annaruthus.
  • Thank you all for your help. I'm feeling much better. In fact, now that I'm not stressing so much, it seems that progress has restarted. I love this group, it is our support of each other and the feelings that come with better health that make this whole thing so worth while!
  • It's an NPC qualifier. It's the first time NPC is coming to my little city in Roanoke, VA. What I'm told is that it is a great show for a first timer. I had been trying to do what I thought was carb cycling by adding sweet potato (4oz) and extra oats on say leg day and one other day per week. So that it goes Low, low,…
  • Jess, thank you so much! I’m going to address each point in somewhat the same order as you put it. This makes me feel better because I think I’m not too far off from what you’re saying. I just changed up my upper body workout this morning in a similar way to what you are suggesting. I found an article in Beverly with some…
  • never mind, no one needs to see any more of my butt. I give up.
  • Sorry, here's this one again:
  • Denise, I'm sorry to hijack your post but I feel that you might get something out of this too. Hi, my name's Temple. I'm 7 weeks out from my first competition and it's as if my brain just can't take anymore. It's not a lack of motivation, I really do want this and I'm willing to do what it takes. Now I see why people use a…
  • I don't think this is a stupid question. You are going to get a lot of information from this post. Let's just say that we know for sure that exercise is good for you (good for your heart at the very least). It is also true that your body needs nutrition in order to function properly and that a net calorie intake of less…
  • I've manage to lose 3% in two months. It has not been easy. Unfortunately as my BF is dropping so is my butt. At 35 years old things just don't bounce back like they used to.
  • A friend of mine started logging 20 min or 15 min of Croquet. Trust me, she doesn't play Croquet. It turns out she was looking up the equivalent of sex with her husband and found out that horseback riding was similar. She meant to be logging Polo. We had a good laugh about that one.
  • Sodium is an electrolyte
  • Honesty is always the key. As you know for this type of program to work you have to log every thing, all the time. So consider this your first motivational speech: TELL THE TRUTH, ALL THE TIME! I've been successful, I've reached my goal. Now I'm maintaining, but I still have to log everything, everyday. I appreciate what…
  • Thank you for this post. I am also interested in competition but I know virtually nothing about it. Good luck to you, if you don't mind I will post a friend request for you.
  • I started running because I really wanted to challenge myself and I thought I hated running. I joined a friend of mine initially and we used a C25K app on our phones (no joke). Then I heard about a program through my local Fleet Feet store called No Boundaries and it slowly brings you up to a 5K over 12 weeks. I loved this…
  • This is such a helpful comment!:noway: I am having the same experience as the original poster and I am very interested to hear what others may have to say about repairing the skinny-fat dilemma. All we have to work with is this moment right now. I'm sick of "should"ing all over myself. Thank you for your question, and…
  • I sweat so it counts.
  • I started with netting 1200 calories. That is I tried to stay right around 1200 calories but sometimes if I exercise more I allowed a little more for the day. The big trick for me is to look at the whole week. Allow for some flexibility on certain days just keep the week under or at your net calorie goal. I've lost 18 lbs…
  • I'm so sorry you had to go through that, I really hope it gets resolved for you and you can get out of that membership. I stopped going to the gym, it just didn't inspire me. I found instead that I thoroughly enjoy dance fitness like Zumba. I my area we have a studio call Just Dance and it's a very comfortable atmosphere…
