  • Hi Midge I will never forget when the Dr told me I had Type 2. It is quite a shock. This site has a lot of great information and you already have some from the posts above. Good place to start is low carb, low sugar. When I was diagnosed I didn't know about this site and my first stop was a book store. I got the book…
  • Hello I was on Victoza a couple of years ago and it worked for a while. With me, things would work for "a while" and then stopped working. Dr. put me on insulin about a year or so ago and it really is the best thing for me. Of course, the really best thing for me is to keep my carbs to below 100 per day......... but that's…
  • I also test first thing as my dr suggested. I am interested to test myself after 30 minutes to see if I also have a big difference.
  • Congratulations!! That is awesome.

  • A type 2 has higher numbers after fasting because their body is not using the sugar in their system for nutrition. It just stays there. The higher the number, the higher the amount of sugar in your blood. A non type 2 person's fasting number will normally be between 80 -100.
  • Thanks for the comments. I know why he wants me to do it. My A!C is ridiculous. He wants me to get my BS down NOW. My problem is mainly because I am having a very hard time with meal planning. It is just SO much easier to grab something at the local fast food place for lunch than trying to figure out what to take and…

  • Hi - I'm not sure about a hands free leash, just in case something caught their eyes or nose and they might run off. I use a caribinger to hook onto my belt when I'm running.
  • Sounds like you are doing good . For me, if I don't sweat it doesn't have an affect on my BS. Exercise is by far the thing that I have control of that affects my BS. Good luck!!

  • Oh my gosh. I am so very sorry. Glad your children were not there. Was anyone able to catch the dogs that attacked? Sending prayers for you and your dogs
  • Hi Renee You have already taken the first step toward defeating this monster. It can take over your whole life if you let it. Take one day, and sometimes one hour at a time and you will be successful. If you mess up, start again. There's no maximum number of times you can start over! Log everything, come to the site…
  • Wow - you have done an amazing job! I would agree with Travis and find out why your doctor told you that. In the mean time, I'm going to use you and Travis as examples of what can be accomplished!!

  • I've read it's OK to begin running with them at 12 months, but as I suggested on the group post, make sure to get your dog checked by your vet to get the OK. It takes a while for them to get used to running just like it would for a person. So I wouldn't start out with a 5K the first day.......lol As for leads, I'm not an…
  • Looks like it was meant to be! Walking is great exercise for both of you. Glad you are able to do that!
  • Love Weiaraners. We originally thought Lulu was one but we have since found out she's a Vizsla. They look close but not very different personalties! Welcome!
  • She is beautiful!!! And she absolutely looks ready to run! You guys are doing to do great. Keep us posted on how she does!
  • You are very welcome! You inspired me to start a group. I just created it and you can search for running with dogs. Please join! This could be a great inspiration to you, me and possibly others!
  • I run with my dog. We are doing the C25K program together. We finished W8D1 last night. It's amazing how much better physically she is. She wasn't bad before, but now I can really see how much more energy she has. We are running a 5K on August 25th and are both very excited. Here's a website for some tips.…
  • Dimples - I also have a lot of trouble losing weight. Just about every drug that the Dr has given me has actually made me gain weight. I've been on Metformin (which caused MANY stomach problems), Byetta (another stomach problem drug), Victoza which for some reason just "stopped" working, Amaryl which I still take but I am…
  • Yes. Any steroid will make your BG go very high. I had to take a Prednisone pill one time for an allergic reaction and mine went to over 400. That was a VERY scary night! After that I learned about the steroid/BG effect. When mine goes high, lots of water and a walk as others have said. I would think with just coming off…
  • Congrats! That is an AWESOME feelinig!!
  • I can relate to littlebuddy84...... it had become so much of a habit that I feel like I'm missing something. Sounds stupid, but feels real.
  • I actually asked my Dr about this the last time I was in as I started noticing it too. She said it's normal because when you are exercising your body secretes more glucose to help keep your body working. She said as long as it comes back down in 60 - 90 minutes it was OK. BUT with you coming off the Met, I would keep a…
  • OK, just saw this so I will start tomorrow morning. This is going to be VERY hard for me. My usual morning routiine is potty, brush, weigh......... But it is becoming an obsession........ My husband will thank who ever thought this one up!!
  • That is absolutely fantastic!!! Congats, that is not a small victory at all. it is a HUGE one!! You need to celebrate the feeling!
  • This may sound silly, but what about trying to do something other than eat with your hands. Maybe enbroidery or something like that?

  • Congratulations!!! I finished week 5 today. Not too far behind you!!
  • Thanks everyone. I know in my head I'm doing great. I just don't feel like it. But I will just have to get over that. Thanks for the suggestions. I do try to keep my meals at 45 carbs or lower and snacks below 30. That is what my dr had said, but maybe lowering them more may help. I'm up to trying it! Thans Tszani - the…
