  • I'm 5'10" and over 50. Struggled for 20 years above 220. Now into low 190's on my way to low 180's which will be a decent spot for me. I'm built big, broad and totally agree that 20 lbs is nothing on me. I notice but others don't. I'm down 27 lbs right now, and barely anyone notices. A bit depressing after all that work.…
  • I'm hoping to join you soon. Congrats the pics are awesome.
  • I'm finishing cycle 2 on Sunday and have lost 15 lbs so far. Feel great and find the 'diet'....its not really a diet but a way to reset your eating habits......anyways easy to follow, gradually takes you back to proper eating, allows you to fall in love with veggies again, and is really working for me. Don't think of it as…
  • I am finishing cycle 2 tomorrow and hoping to have lost 16 lbs in total. Onto Cycle 3, then back to cycle 1 after Canadian Thanksgiving. Feel free to add me as a MFP friend.
  • I'm sticking to eliptical, walking and hot yoga. The walking is not punishing on the back like running is and the eliptical is gentle as well. Hot hatha yoga 2-3 times a week keeps me from getting tight which aggravates my back. Hope some of our suggestions help.
  • I was as low as 198 (-26 lbs) and now after Christmas Flu ( no exercise and too much food once I felt better). I weighed in at 213 today and I am well back onto exercise regime and low carbs before I leave for a week of vacation starting Jan 12th. Here are my goals given i have a big big birthday at end of March. End of…
  • I'm 5'11", my husband 6'1".....don't predict girls height until they get their period. My daughter is 5'6"! Got period at 12......and is 19 now. My niece is 6'....got period at 15. Boys are different, my 16 year old son is 6'2" already.
  • I cleaned out mine and got rid of 1X, 0X and 16W/18 clothes. Separated really nice stuff from ho-hum stuff. I gave ho-hum to local thrift store and gave nice stuff to my hairdresser and her friends. They were thrilled!! They actually split it all up while I had my colour on my hair! Felt so good for my favs to go to people…
  • I had a similar thing happen as I was ramping up my exercise and getting fitter. I stagnated with good diet for about 2-3 weeks ...but as you said my clothes were looser but the scale wasn't budging. Then the weight started to drop slowly. I've actually lost about 26 lbs in all, but put a few back on over the summer. Now…
  • I'd trust your polar. Designed for females, has your height and weight... MFP would just have generic cal burns. I trust mine implicitly....closest to reality
  • lost 26 lbs.....been at it since January....20 more to go.
  • How old are you? 49 How much have you lost? 25 lbs How long did it take you to lose the weight (and/or issues/attitudes that kept you overweight/obese)? I've been on my journey since January 2012 so almost 6 months How long have you kept it off? same What did you do/are doing to STAY slim and healthy? Counting calories on…

  • When I hit my target weight, and my body is where I want it to be....I'm not marking it. To each his/her own.
  • This may be a dumb question...but what does NSV mean?
  • I'm turning 49 Friday....and finding weight coming off now very slowly. I've gone from eating poorly and not exercising....to exercising 6 days per week and eating 1200 calories + some of my exercise calories. Weight...dropping 1 lb per week.....veryyyyyy slow. Any thoughts? You seem to be a similar age....and I'm…
  • Actually my daughter is the rider not me. I haven't even rode our horse!
  • I've lost 15 lbs now....3 of those 5 lb chunks! wow no wonder my pants are falling off!
  • I have a HRM and a fit bit. Bought the fit bit first but found that MFP goes on and off syncing with it. Frankly I like the HRM better. I bought the Triathalon one...cheaper than polar, functions as a sport watch too and I love it. Has a chest strap so you get an accurate reading and it tracks calories burned based on your…
  • I work out when i can, but I like the morning as it gets me up and going and then I feel like I have my evenings free to relax with the family or run errands. I've read that if you exercise in the a.m. you also rev up your metabolism for the day. That can't hurt.
  • I have the ironman HRM and LOVE it. Reasonably priced + when I compare to the websites where your burn is calculated pretty bang on. Love getting off the treadmill and knowing I've burned 650 calories!

  • I bought a fitbit after a bunch of research., I like it although it does tally up lots of calories on a super busy day where I've got a workout + lots of running around to do. I just don't eat all the calories back. So far so good. However, I am going to add a heart rate monitor to my fitness technology collection to…
  • I did a bunch of research and I'm heading out ot buy the Timex IronMan RoadTrainer midsize watch. Seems to be the most versatile, about $100 and gets good reviews. It also performs as a watch in addition to the HRM functions.
  • I'm 5'11".....what I found really good about these pictures is that you can look great at 180 lbs...which I'm hoping to get to! Once I'm down a bit more will post pictures.
  • I have two great ones that are filling....from Dukan - the Oat Bran Gallette. Egg whites whipped, 1-2 tbsp low fat yogurt, 2 tbsp oat bran. Whip and then make a pancake in a pan. Really tasty, low in calories and super filling. If I'm really in a hurry...I mix oat bran with yogurt....fast and filling.
  • I'm almost the exact same body type, bit shorter (5'11") and was close to your starting weight. I'd be thrilled to be 180....was 172 the day I got married and I was thin. Thanks for the inspiration. Any tips or words of encouragement. I can lost 15 lbs and barely anyone will notice but me.
