Thanks so much for posting this. I just ordered a Rebounder. I can't wait. I have been unable to do any real exercise all winter. I'm someone who prefers the outdoors on my bike. This is something I can do while watching the news or my favorite tv show or listening to my iPod. :)

Two scrambled eggs. Breakfast can be my favorite dinner. :)

I would investigate the impact of eating processed foods on your mental health. I was on an antidepressant for 11 years. I couldn't figure out why I would get depressed when there was nothing in my life that would indicate I should be. I began to read about nutrition. Alot of the food being sold out there has very little…

I have lost most of my 37 lbs. through calorie reduction. I love to go biking and I do some occasional walking and strength training. It is winter here so I'm not able to get out on the bike trail and can't stand the gym. I have still lost 3-7 lbs. each month since November. I decided that I needed to live in realville and…

Great job!! You have achieved alot so don't give up. I would try "fooling" your body...cycle up (eat a couple hundred more) on the calories and change your workout for a couple of weeks. Our bodies tend to get used to what we are doing (status quo) and will settle in. After a couple of weeks, go back to what you were…

Thanks for posting this. It is so true. We are so easily discouraged on this journey. And MFP is such a great place to get advice from people when we hit that plateau, or when we need a word of encouragement and feel like we want to give up, or just want to rejoice with someone who is working their program and finding…

I weigh myself once per month. As a woman I like to allow all of those nasty hormonal inconsistencies work themselves out. I have found a great deal of success with weighing one time per month. Keeps me from obsessing over the number on the scale and focusing on what and how much I am eating. Changing bad eating habits…

MSG...it is a very toxic food additive and flavor enhancer for some people. I can't handle it. I get the worst headaches and become depressed within 24 hours. I rarely eat out for that reason. Chinese food isn't the only food that is sprinkled with this stuff. Most restaurants use it.

52 and quite happy with aging gracefully!

Thanks for sharing your journey of wellness!!! Great job! And I'm inspired now to continue on my journey...30 lbs. to go!

I wonder who paid for the production of this article...seems to me big food and government don't like us growing and eating our own food naturally. Organically grown food will always be superior to mass produced and genetically modified stuff. I wouldn't trust this article as far as I could throw it.

If your spouse is overweight, then your decision and action to lose weight and get healthy is very convicting to him. So he is going to try and stop you so he doesn't have to feel bad about his own weight problem. Tell him that you are doing this for yourself, not for him. :) Good luck, my dear! My husband did the same…

I bike the trail alot and I have a Trek Navigator 2.0 and love it.

I was discouraged to read about this as well so time ago. However, it has pushed me in the direction of eating more of a Paleo diet - fruits, vegetables, and protein, good fats (olive or coconut). While I don't completely eliminate grains from my diet, they would not be of the amount suggested by the USDA food pyramid. Our…

I'm 52 and have lost 12 and looking to lose about 40 more.

I love this! This proves how differently we are all built. There is not cookie cutter size. We all have different body types and shapes and need to figure out what feels best. :)

Thanks for sharing your inspiring words. You are the reality of what it takes to make a goal and get there. My goal is one pound per week. For me, that is doable and realistic. While I love watching the shows like Extreme Makeover Weight Loss Edition and Biggest Loser, the methods used for weight loss are not reality for…

Welcome to MFP. I turned 52 yesterday. I lost 12 lbs. using MFP in 2 months. I lost 5 lb's prior to starting MFP, so a total of 17 lbs. since April. It's an effective way to manage your calorie intake and your activity level. Good luck!!!!

You are adorable! Good for you! You inspire this almost 52 year old to keep going on her journey to fitness and healthy eating. Thanks for sharing your story!

MFP is all about accountability. You record what you eat. I have a friend who has no clue what she's consuming in terms of volume and calories. She wonders why she's not losing. She refuses to write it down. It's funny...when you see it in black and white, it cannot be ignored. I was appalled a week ago when I decided to…

I avoid any foods with MSG and additives after what I've learned about processed foods. When I re-introduced them, I experience lethargy, headache, and feel lousy. There is truth to this article. Those who are poo pooing it are those who have never detoxed from it. And they must LOVE their junk food and are reluctant to…

I agree that it gets down to calories. I would not judge another for choosing to eat something that is considered "unclean" as part of their daily diet. For weight loss, it really gets down to calorie total (portion control). We can train our bodies to require less food by eating less food in the long term. After a month…

I crank out 12 miles almost every day on our bike trail and I wear headphones. I have a mirror on my handle bars for watching who is coming up behind me. I'm also one of those people that prefers not to wear a helmet. I guess I am a risk taker...even at 51. Life is to be enjoyed to the fullest. A bike helmet makes my scalp…

I have 40 lbs to lose. There are lots of folks on here needing to lose 50+. You are not alone. We are all in this together. Feel free to friend me for some support and access to my food diary. Good luck!!!!

Yes. I'm a happily married woman. Anyone, male or female who is looking for support in the pursuit of being healthy...nothing wrong with that.

Cycling: One of the advantages of cycling is that it offers a balanced approach to fitness. It's a low-impact exercise that can help you strengthen your heart, lower your blood pressure, boost your energy, burn calories, tone your body (especially thighs, buttocks and stomach), reduce stress and tension and help you reach…
