I agree that spices are a great help! A website I've recently found and like is http://lowsodiumcooking.com. You may find some nice recipes, etc, there. They also have a newsletter if you wish to sign up (I haven't yet so can't tell you if it's good, bad or indifferent). Best of luck in taking this positive step!

GREAT advice!! :)

Find a good seamstress/tailor! You will need it and it's much less expensive to alter your clothing than buy new. Also, look around for the resale shops ... you can get amazing deals and also make a little money back by selling your gently-worn things. And above all, get rid of your "fat clothes!" You don't need that…

Yay for you! That's an awesome achievement! :flowerforyou:

Congrats on the NSV, that is an awesome achievement. What about having them taken in? Sometimes it's easier and cheaper than buying new ... especially when you love love love something. I just had some thermal shirts taken in ..,. who in the world has thermals taken in? ... hahahaha. Enjoy!

Good luck!! I am definitely open to new adds ... I log every day as well. I'm about 160 days in, have lost 52.3 pounds of a total 100-120 to lose. I think we do much better with other people to support us and this is definitely a great place for that!

Hi Barbie and welcome to MP! It's a terrific tool. I've been here since May 26 and have made some great online fiends who give me terrific support and ideas. 52.3 pounds down in 155 days ... woot! ... it works if you do! Friend me if you would like and best of luck!

When we were dating and hubby got in my nerves once at a restaurant, I dumped grated Parmesan cheese all over him. He wasn't happy then but we've been married for 32 years and we still laugh about it!

Personally I think you're ok to occasionally not meet your calories as long as you're not consistently in a severe deficit. You just don't want it to be a way of life!
-
Hi Bronwyn! (beautiful name, btw) ... glad to have you here and if you want to add me as a friend, please do. We're all in this for the same reason, because we're trying to be healthy and need support. MFP is a great tool if you stick with it! Like anything else, you get out of it what you put into it. There are no magic…

Cheating for me means eating things I wouldn't normally, but staying under calories. Great to step up your activity on those days to offset it. I've done the cheat thing in the past ... the problem for me (with my addictive personality) is that once a month becomes every other week which becomes once a week which becomes…

Oh sure ... it's all good until you grow a third eye from eating these eggs.

I've tried WW a couple of times (actual meetings, not online) and it just wasn't the best fit for me. I did ok but it didn't hold for long ... maybe it was my particular leaders but it seemed that they talked about the same things all the time. Frankly, I get more out of the friends I've made on MFP who offer me GREAT…

I try to estimate as close as possible. If things look a little out of whack with the calories listed in MFP, I will check other sites and see if they come close and then just use the very best average possible and use that info to get where I try to be. I think the key is to try to be consistent and not have wild swings.…

I tend to be on a cycle where for a couple weeks, I'm only losing tenths at a time, and then all of a sudden BAM!! - off it all comes at once. I chalk it up to hormonal fluctuations and water retention. Unless you have the huge losses consistently, I doubt you have a problem. Just make sure you watch your intakes and are…

You listened to some very good advice. I do weigh myself but the closet is a terrific motivator for me. I've given away a closet and a half of clothes because I don't want anything in the house that I can fit in if I gain anything back! (I still have a couple of closets to clean out ... yeah, I had quite the wardrobe!)…

Don't listen to your family, listen to the GREAT advice here! You count, you are worth it, and you'll have the last laugh. Hang in there, you can do it. This is a great place for support!

My face and neck, then my butt and thighs, and then my stomach. Of course, I have more shrinking to go! One really funny conversation I had recently was at a club I belong to, several people were asking about my weight loss. One of the guys piped up with "well, at least you haven't lost your boobs like my wife did when she…

I knew it was time to buy new jeans when I could pull the old ones off without unzipping and unbuttoning them! I did buy my new ones a little bit more snug than I normally would have but not to the point where it was a struggle to get them on. I figure it I can sit down, breathe and they don't look like they're a second…

My husband will thank you for this advice. Seriously. Whoohooo!!!!

Eat your cupcake! You have to or you'll go nuts. I try to tell people ... just plan for it! You can make room for those calories in almost any given day, the key is to not do it all the time. So go for it, enjoy, and then let us know how great you feel about yourself when you've had your NSV of planning and then getting…

This looks incredible, and I've never had roasted broccoli before. I love broccoli and am always looking for new recipes so I'm going to want to try this ... but will have to lighten up on the olive oil, I think.

Calories (obsessively) - everything I put in my mouth counts! I try to keep carbs/fat/protein in balance and lately have been looking at the sodium count which I noticed is awful and an area I can definitely improve on.

My current competition shotgun, $12,000 with custom work. It took a long time for us to save up for it because there was no way I was financing it. The final push to be able to buy it was the last $5,000 when my mom passed away. Since she was my biggest fan and very supportive of me when I started competing, my hubby…

I also customize my goals. If I went with MFP, I wouldn't be going anywhere! The math looks right to me but I think at that rate, your progress would be slow. When I burn off calories, I generally don't add them back on in consumption ... once in a blue moon ... I just try to stick to my normally-allotted calorie count.…

WAH! I'd rather have one slice of good ol' pork bacon than 1,000 slices of turkey bacon. KMN.

NSV = non scale victory. We take victories where we find them, right?
