Not eating enough calories

So there are days, and not every day, where I just don't eat 'enough' calories, or MFP say's I don't and I feel fine, I just don't want to eat that much on that particular day. Am I doing harm by not getting enough calories a few day's a week?

I've been having the same problem. Not because I don't want to eat but that I'm not hungry....0

I struggle to meat the 1200 a day goal, let alone the 1730 that I'm supposed to eat. I always try, but sometimes it just doesn't happen. I know it's important too, it's just tough on some days :flowerforyou:0

Personally I think you're ok to occasionally not meet your calories as long as you're not consistently in a severe deficit. You just don't want it to be a way of life!0

See that's me, I'm either not hungry or nothing looks good so I just shrug it off and then after a while I'm not even hungry anymore!0 -
i'm supposed to eat 2100 calories a day and now that i am watching everything that i eat im lucky to get 1500! unless it comes to chinese food then i found out i can eat all the daily calories lol. I personally just try to make the healthiest choices i can during my day and if i dont make the goal, well at least i know i tried and ate healthy anyways.0

having a quick skim you mostly get all your calories on days you eat mcdonalds. i would say try switching your breakfast to an omlette/ bacon and eggs or the like. Just dont add a lot of bread with it or you will struggle for the rest of the day. Dont worry to much about fats and throw in some nuts as they have freakishly high calories for their volume.
Increasing your fat or protein also destroys your sweet tooth im not sure why but ive had 1 sweet in the past month.0 -
So glad to see others are having this issue as well. I have to eat 1200 and many times I just can't cause I am not hungry.
I do make sure I take vitamins to insure that I get the proper nutrients.0 -

I can't switch my breakfast to omelette or anything I actually crave cereal pretty much all day and would eat it for all my meals if it wasn't so cold outside, and they only time I do eat sweet's is when I look at my calorie intake and I'm still good then I deserve a treat, I would be worried about if I was going over on my calories but I'm under, so I think I can have a granola bar or a Reese Cup once in a while.0 -
I'm sorry to be contrary, but certainly those who say they couldn't possibly eat 1200 calories a day previously ate way more than that to gain the weight they are now trying to lose. Even if you had terrible eating habits before, there are so many healthy and yummy options to get your calories in (like peanut butter). I'm afraid I'm a bit perplexed by these threads that appear so frequently.0

ONCE in a while? Fine.
On a regular basis? It's what intermittent fasting or calorie cycling is based on. But that would mean eating MORE on the other days, not some days eating 800 and other days eating 1200.
I'm at around 2100 calories. I have no problems reaching at least 1900 a day.
It's all a matter of planning. If I'm going to be low, I add some higher calorie foods that don't add extra bulk to my meals. A little olive oil, a slice of cheese, a slightly larger portion of chicken, a squirt of Ranch dressing, a piece of fruit, a glass of chocolate milk, a protein shake or bar, etc.
If I add an extra 100 calories to each meal and scheduled snack, there's 600 extra calories in a day. But trying to add 600 calories to dinner alone would be hard.
Plan ahead. It's that simple.0
