Sabrina Ghayour is my go to Persian cook she has at least four books out. I usually turn to her vegetarian one called Bazaar, you could get mum in law or yourself a copy and ask her if you can cook some of the recipes together. You can alter the recipes, for example I often do her Roast Vegetable Bastilla but leave out the…

Yes it is a life journey Robin. The terrain can be exciting but at times challenging, it takes tenacity, patience and consistency. As you change your choice of foods your taste buds change. My choice is fresh unprocessed food. All the very best Robin

I have 2 Fitbit one's. Why? Because they've stopped making them and I have a tendency to lose them. I put both in the same pocket and they were not accurate at all. One measured over 500 steps compared with the other!. However for me using a fitbit is motivational and is good when competing with others worldwide.

First day completed. Completed my first walk of the year and logged ever morsel. Cooked Parsnip, sprout and chestnut hotpot with cider for my dinner. It's one of Hugh Fernley-Whittingstall's recipes from his new book "Much More Veg" very tasty! xx

If the weather permitted and the other person was agreeable I used to conduct training needs analysis whilst walking around our arboretum. I think getting out and walking helped in thinking more creatively.

For me lots of sitting relates to surfing the web, being with friends, eating and watching TV. To reduce one aspect of this I suggested that my friend and I walked to a shop 20 minutes away to get some olives. Sadly the ones I wanted had sold out! xx

I not only walked into town and back but walked the other side of town to buy some raspberries and apples. On the way I met a colleague Marilyn, who I hadn't seen for some years. It was great to catch up and if I hadn't been conscious of this challenge I'd have bought the fruit my side of town. Walked over 15K steps so…

Hello Norma, that news is a huge shock which has openned your eyes to the fact that your body needs you to make changes or it's is going to give up on you. There are some remarkable stories of recovery on this forum and I certainly hope that you are going to join that rank. It's tough though there are supportive people on…

I make my own bread using hi protein flour, yeast, salt, extra virgin olive oil and water. Delicious and much higher in protein than commercially available bread unless you pay a huge premium!

By your calculations I must be one of the walking dead at 60 years. I love life and have found just the most amazing support from this site. This site is perhaps a metaphor for life, as others have said you'll get out of it what you put in. As Churchill says “Success is stumbling from failure to failure with no loss of…

From where I am standing this is domestic violence. Imagine a really good friend was in the place that you are right now, with this man, what would you advise her to do? Hopefully you've got your answer. As others have said you are worth more.

It took me 5 months to lose 30 lbs but last year was an unusually difficult year where I went off the rails and put 20lbs back on, I am now back working on building muscle, and toning up, as long as I am in a healthy zone, not binging, cutting down on sugars/simple carbs, losing fat around the vital organs and fitting into…

Let's skip childhood stuff. Congratulations they say a journey of a 1000 miles starts with one step! Why the huge weight loss goal? Why not start with a smaller achievable goal to get from say obese to overweight and then review you goal? That way you can maintain a sense of achievement and mastery!

Nice one, I decided to lose some excess when I took a photograph of myself, examined it and thought I didn't remember putting a scarf on, looked a little closer and realised it was a double, triple chin!

Hi I wonder if having a look at Prochaska and DiClemente's cycle of change will help you to make sense of what is going on! It seems that at the moment you lots of changes going on, wife's new job, great but how does that impact on you?' Your own work and having to work away, either not being able to go to the gym because…
