I really struggle with this too. I usually eat at home during the week and it is easy (easier anyway) to know what I am eating and what is in it. But on the weekend I don't want to cook or do dishes, so I tend to go out to dinner Friday/Saturday night. One thing I am trying is to choose restaurants where I know there are…

Yep. I am doing the same. My stats now are pretty similar. I am 5'4" 151lb and have body fat % around 28% as calculated on line. Since I've started, I've lost less than 10 lb (fluctuates) but am continuing to lose inches. I figure as long as I am healthy (blood pressure, sugars, etc) and strong I will not live or die by…

Feel free to add me! Motivational friends help so much :)

I love the site yogatoday! The have one free class a week, you can download classes for much cheaper than a DVD, or get unlimited streaming for like $10/month. They did a weightloss series earlier this year, but there is plenty on there to help tone/get stronger. http://www.yogatoday.com/

Ah. It does sound like the skater squat. Thanks for the video! I think I am a ways from needed extra weight on this one :)

Back at you! It still counts even if it isn't measurement day :)

Not sure about the UK, but I swear by Moving Comfort bras for high impact. In the US, the website Title Nine carries specialty sports bras for large breasted women and has a lot of detail on the support. You could check there and then see if the same bra is sold in UK somewhere. Best of luck to your girls :)

I read the book the Chi of Running and it was super helpful. It talks about form for running so you don't hurt your knees/shins/hips/feet/self while doing it and how to work up from walking to jogging to running. I also find using a heart rate monitor has really helped me learn to keep a healthy exercise pace so I can keep…

I will, thanks! You sounds like you have a great spirit and want to do this the healthy way :)

They do have calorie measurements for strength training under cardio, but I don't find them that helpful as I don't want to record how long I spent doing each exercise and then entering them all individually. I have a heart rate monitor so I just use it while doing strength training and log it just like cardio. I have seen…

Bump The MFP estimates definitely estimate my calories burned higher than what my HRM does. I'm assuming that MFP assumes you are working at a hard level the whole time while the HRM knows that I'm not? I'm also curious how people have worked around this without the equipment.

Still working on that myself, but what I'm focusing on is the amount of water I drink (not enough .. apparently one should not live on coffee alone) and the portions of fat/protein/carbs. I had totally bought into the idea that you should eat a "low fat" diet to lose weight. I find I feel much more sustained if I eat less…

Good to know. I think its tight, I don't think thats the issue. But maybe I have it too low? Its more under the bottom of the sports bra band. What kind of HRM do you have? Mine is the polar F4.

Not sure if this will help you, but if you do a more "functional training" style of strength training instead of the traditional, you can get by with less equipment. Its a lot of body weight moves, plyometrics, and combo moves that use multiple muscles at once. An example:…

I know my boobs got bigger as I gained weight, so I'm hoping they will get smaller when I loose weight. One of the indicators to me that I really needed to take a hard look at myself was when I stopped being able to buy bras in a normal store and had to seek out a special store for large breasted women. One of my planned…

Two weeks is nothing! Bear in mind that your body weight can fluctuate by a couple of pounds just by water retention (hydration, salt intake, hormones), so it may take a few pounds lost before you see stable weight loss. I just started as well and haven't lost weight yet either, those I may have lost inches (or I am just…

Hi - My name is Lisa. I'm 5'4", 30 years old, and currently about 160 lb. I am looking to lose 20 to 30 pounds, and get in shape. I want to do it in a consistent balanced way so I eat well and foods I enjoy and learn what reasonable portions are. I also want to work out so I have energy to enjoy life and to do the…

Oh, good to know! I thought that was just for tracking progress, didn't realize it added calories.

I just moved to a new country (from the US), and food options here are very different, though I have been surprised how many brands do show up when I scan the barcode! I have noticed something interesting though, before moving I would always eat too many carbs & sugar by MFP's default %'s and I was always hungry. Here…

I suffer from the same problem. Title nine has some great sports bras that actually work! They are pricey, but worth it. You might also try a specialty running store or a specialty bra store. However, I can also get my cardio going doing vigorous yoga .. like a flow yoga (vinyasa) or ashtanga style. You would have to…

I'm taking advantage of summer and satisfying my sweet tooth with fresh fruit. They say it takes a couple of weeks to break a habit. I can say 3 to 4 weeks in, it is actually starting to work. I can look the vending machine in the eye at work and not feel a desperate craving. I don't want to cut sweets out of my diet…

Love this! And thanks to the original poster for sharing her story. We all face moments of cruelty and I for one will remember her for being strong and keeping true to her goals.

Thanks for this post everyone! I am just starting on my weight loss journey. One of the things that finally made we wake up to the weight gain creep in my life was that I can no longer shop for bras in normal sizes. I can say that it did really help to go to a department store and get professionally fitted. The bras…

I am 5'4" and weight about 155, but carry most of my weight around the middle. I am either an 8, 10, or 12 depending on the brand. Wouldn't it be great if there was a bit more transparency in women's clothing sizes?!
