If any of you are afraid of the 'toe' look in everyday wear- I just got some Merrell Pace Gloves that I've been using in training for my upcoming marathon. They are barefoot (with vibram soles) style without the separated toes. They have a wide toe box so your toes can spread comfortably and a 0 heel drop. If you have wide…

I'm not on here for advice or weightloss, I use the diary to supplement my fitbit in maintaining my weight so it's for my eyes only. A lot of people wouldn't understand why I eat 3,000 calories and then 2500. (I don't usually go below 2300) when they're on 1200-1500 calorie diets. I run and my intake is important but I…

My daughter and I made this last night with the chocolate unsweetened almond breeze (45 cal/8oz), 1tbsp of dark cocoa powder (10cal) (can you tell we like chocolate?) we added about 1/4 cup of frozen raspberries (abt 16 cals) (I chopped them slightly so they were pieces) rather than a sweetener and the 1 tsp of vanilla…

I work out 7 days a week. usually twice a day. I run 5-6 times a week (morning), Xtrain w/ elliptical, do EA Active II w/ my daughter, strength train 3 days a week, and do Zumba 2 times a week. My runs are 3 mile (shorts) and 8 mile (longs). I also walk to and from work daily (I don't count that as a workout) -- 8 mile…

Saving for later- I love recipe sites =) BTW these are also good though I use them infrequently as most of my faves have already been listed: http://whatscookingamerica.net/RecipeIndexDiet.htm http://www.fitnessmagazine.com/recipes/ http://www.3fatchicks.com/diet-recipes/…

I LOVE mine! I have the KSO, Sprint, and Bikala LS versions. I do get some hot spots in the sprints, but only if used for long distances. I mainly use my Bikala LS now for distance running, Sprints for aerobics/strength work, and KSO for daily walking wearing around shopping and such =) I can't imagine wearing anything…

I love treats and sometimes eat a few a in a day =) I think they are vital to a healthy mind and body.

Mine's private. I don't really feel like being judged and most people on here are on low calorie diets and I am on a maintenance - bordering on a gain diet. I eat between 1900-3000 cals daily (sometimes more, sometimes a touch less depending on activity/hunger) I'm underweight, hungry, and active and I think on a 'weight…

LOL-- my husband eats those and saves the codes also, he's already saved enough for TWO of those bags and is working on a third. When I asked what he's going to do with them he looked at me blankly and said "um...give them as birthday presents to my staff"

Let me just quote out this section: "Only the group that exercised before breakfast gained almost no weight and showed no signs of insulin resistance. They also burned the fat they were taking in more efficiently. “Our current data,” the study’s authors wrote, “indicate that exercise training in the fasted state is more…

You might be interested in this article (drawn from this study: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/20837645) It looks at working out before bkfst: The holiday season brings many joys and, unfortunately, many countervailing dietary pitfalls. Even the fittest and most disciplined of us can succumb, indulging in more fat and…

I'm gonna have to agree with this... tack on the mozzarella/bread and I'm actually surprised it didn't hit 1,000 and >50 on the fat count. Definitely not fair to attack the restaurant for that. Those are all "Wholesome" ingredients. No false advertising. It doesn't say Pax "Low fat, low calorie" Foods. After you calorie…

I more "jog" =) but I go about 5 miles before work everymorning and sometimes 7 or 8 on the weekends. It feels nice after the first 5 minutes pass and I get in a rhythm. When I first started I couldn't go longer than 90 seconds without feeling like I was going to die! Now It feels better than walking. You'll get there-…

we make quesadilla's using low carb, high fiber, whole wheat tortilla's and use lots of red and green bell pepper, onion, along with a filling of black beans/low fat sour cream/fresh cilantro/shredded chicken breast (can use canned if pressed for time!)/salsa and 2% shredded cheddar cheese. They are delicious =)

BMI's are bogus. I'm 5'6" and I weigh 102. (and no I'm not here for weight loss-- I was originally here for weight gain and after putting on a few lbs, I am now here to help maintain my weight) I run and do other forms of exercise (EA Active and zumba with my daughter, elliptical, walk to and from work daily, and am just…

Favorite would be Lazy Low Cal Lifestyle Cookbook by Becky Clark *edit to add- you might enjoy the Eat this not that cookbook "Now Eat This, 150 of America's Favorite Comfort Food's..." Some of them are so delish, and not difficult. He uses the same ingredients over and over. I also use cheap cookbooks/grocery store…

I just snorted onto my screen ty! (that was a great visual) and Sharina1985-- will do. I put up a post-it to myself so please check this thread in a few days (I have a grant deadline so won't get to it til after that) =)

That article is fairly bogus from the jump. It supports carbs as being 'evil' and 'unnecessary' which are very fringe and unsupported ideas (scientifically unsound and even dangerous) Carbohydrates provide energy (calories) for muscles, nerves, and the brain. "Complex" carbohydrate foods provide calories and other…

I'm a current smoker with multiple half-assed quit attempts. It so far doesn't affect working out (although my bet is if I wasn't smoking my workouts would be even MORE smoking lol) and most people guess I'm a non-smoker. I've smoked since age 12 (yikes) and it's the one vice I've held on to as I used to do many not-ok…

LOL you do know that "dihydrogen monoxide" is water right? good old h2o in chemistry. the dihydrogen monoxide hoax is a 'freakout' hoax for people unfamiliar with the chemical makeup of water: Literally, the term "dihydrogen monoxide" means "two hydrogen, one oxygen", consistent with its molecular formula: the prefix di-…

I don't log my fruits and vegetables, only other things and recipes....Yet I eat approx 2-3 apples a day, multiple handfuls of organic baby carrots, a serving (or 2) of vegetable at lunch and dinner (which one depends on what I'm in the mood for -- sometimes raw, sometimes cooked), I have mushrooms a few times a week --…

MFP is set too low for maintenance for me. I use a fitbit to maintain and supplement it with MFP's food database. the fitbit gives me a better estimate on BMR + calorie expenditure so I can truly eat what I need in a day to maintain my weight and MFP's community and food help me reach that =) When I tried to just use MFP's…

I found that MFP set my maintenance calories too low as I was still losing. I got a fitbit and was fairly amazed to see how much I actually needed, I adjusted MFP accordingly. I need about 400-1000 more per day than what MFP has set for maintenance. I've been holding my weight steady now for 2 months (using the fitbit…
