Oh-oh... I love carbs I'm a carb-o-holic.0
-
Well, my husband swears there is crack in Reese's peanut butter cups! LOL!!0
-
I will totally agree with that - I mean, I've never done cocaine, but I fight to get away from carbs and one day of high (simple) carbs has me jonesing for more. URGH!0

Air is more addictive than heroin. Try to stop breathing and see how long that lasts. See, I told you.0
-
done both and I always find myself going right back for those tasty Carbs...evil lil things:devil:0
-
WOW, thanks for the article!0 -
I've also heard that bread has the same effects as heroin on the brain. My bf's sisters swears this is why she went gluten free. There's a book about this but I can't remember the name.0

I get the feeling that cocain might be worse for you than carbs though0

perhaps, but just to be on the safe side i'm gonna snort a couple of rails with my eggs tomorrow morning instead of my usual slice of toast.0 -
That article is fairly bogus from the jump. It supports carbs as being 'evil' and 'unnecessary' which are very fringe and unsupported ideas (scientifically unsound and even dangerous)
Carbohydrates provide energy (calories) for muscles, nerves, and the brain.
"Complex" carbohydrate foods provide calories and other nutrients. They're also
good sources of fiber, essential for digestion and the prevention of some diseases.
"Simple" carbohydrate foods provide calories, but not much else. (That's why they're
often called "empty calories.") It protects your muscles.
· It regulates the amount of sugar circulating in your body.
· It provides nutrients for friendly bacteria in intestinal tract that helps in digestion.
· It assists in body's absorption of calcium.
· It helps in lowering cholesterol level and regulates blood pressure.
· SOURCES OF COMPLEX CARBOHYDRATE: ("starches"): breads,
noodles, grains, cereals, potatoes, nuts, seeds, dried beans, lentils and peas,
vegetables, and some fruits.
· SOURCES OF SIMPLE CARBOHYDRATES: table sugar, powdered
sugar, brown sugar and "natural" sugars in honey, corn, and some fruits.
Carbohydrates are aptly described as "brain food". They not only supply nearly all of the energy that your
brain uses everyday, but they also provide about half of all the energy human nerves, muscles and other
body tissues use.
Not all carbohydrates are made equal. Simple carbohydrates take the form of sugar- from the natural sugar
in fruit to the refined sugar in candy and soda. Complex carbohydrates are found in rice, pasta, vegetables
and breads. Our bodies need some of both, but it's best to get most of your "carbs" from the complex
carbohydrate list.

Carbs are not Evil.
There is a good article on why carbs are good for women and why women on extremely low carb diets may have low mood:

If you'd like I can pull some scientific journals from our biomedical library as I work in research at a university regarding nutrition, carbohydrates, metabolism, protein. Not everything you read on the internet is true.0 -
They may be addictive but I have yet to see anyone steal,or sell themselves for a whole wheat bagel.
rats may have choosen the carbs over cocain, but I have also yet to see a human choose bread over dope0 -

That's awesome. I was thinking of cutting out a lot of my carbs because I think I eat too much of it. Would love to read more journals if you have them on hand0 -

All good! Take your time. I want to make informed choices, not ones based on fads and false research. Thanks and good luck with the grant!0 -
