  • Waking up to snow!
  • I'm back after a long absence and I need new friends for support and motivation. The journey is much more interesting with a friend along.
  • Awesome! You look amazing and the smile on your face says it all!
  • No need to apologize because you haven't done anything to be sorry for! I'm afraid that I'm not on board with the fasting thing. I know - for me - if I tried to fast, that would send me into an overeating situation for sure as I would feel the need to "compensate". I do better with the eating small meals every 3 hours.…
  • Thanks! At my heaviest, I was on one medication for high blood pressure and two meds for diabetes. My family physician told me that my next step would be insulin shots and he even suggested that I look into surgical options for weight loss because of my health issues. I did not have surgery. Now I don't need to take any…
  • Yes.
  • 5 1/2 Months to lose the first 50, an average of 2.7 pounds a week. Now I'm 9 months into losing the next 50 (only 6 more to go!). I sort of stalled out during the holiday season. Not gaining, but not losing either. My average is more like 1 1/5 pounds a week now. Walking and various workout DVDs for exercise.
  • Hey Louise! *waves* Just joined this new group, too, and I'm always looking for friends who like motivation & support. I had joined another Women Over 50 group, but it was inactive for the most part. I'm hoping this one will attract some more participation.
  • People who don't wait their turn, especially when they are driving. They fly past you then pull over in front of someone at the last second when their lane runs out, causing everyone in your lane to slam on brakes. It's interesting how people will do things behind the wheel of a car that they wouldn't normally do. For…
  • I have PCOS and take daily medication for it. I also have insulin resistance type 2 diabetes. Since my weight loss, I no longer have to take medication for the diabetes. I just try to eat a balance of healthy food - 30% Protein, 30% Fat & 40% Carbs - and stay under my daily calorie goal. MFP has been awesome for tracking.…
  • I'm here, but I'm new to the group. Not a lot of activity since I've been here. I'd love to find a fun group that has weekly challenges for motivation - eating and exercising.
  • It's possible! My long term goal is 160 pounds ~ I'm over half way there. Eating better and using MFP to track has helped me do it. Don't wait another minute to start - start right now. Do the best you can, one day at a time. When you have slips, put them behind you and keep going because it is so worth it. I used to be on…
  • Great analogy! It just doesn't seem logical to me for a compulsive overeater to do this exercise.
  • I'm with you, #2 blew my mind.
  • You are not a failure. The only time you fail is when you do not try again. You sound like you are ready to try again, so what you see as a failure is really an opportunity to start over. The goal is to not overeat and to do the best you can, when you can. It's not about passing and failing. It's not about being perfect.…
  • You don't sound stupid to me. Losing a beloved pet is like losing a member of the family and that loss needs to be mourned. It's difficult to not to turn to food for comfort. It does get better with time, the pain eases and the memories of your pet become joyful.
  • I struggle with all four of these! 1. Eat only when you're hungry. ~ It's amazing how easily I can convince myself that I am hungry. 2. Eat what you want to, not what you think you should. ~ This doesn't work for me because all I want to eat is fats, carbs & sugars. I never "want" to eat lean protein and healthly…
  • Hey, Bellamay! Welcome to the group!
  • Yes, you can do it! And you will feel so much better with getting the weight off. I have bad knees, but losing some weight has made a world of difference for me. I'm not afraid of stairs anymore. Welcome to the group and good luck on your journey!
  • Those kind of comments suck! But don't let them suck the motivation out of you. Stay focused on your goal despite the negativity and you will succeed! Don't do it for your boyfriend, don't do it for your boss - do it for YOU. 15 pounds is AWESOME! You are on your way!
  • Thanks for the welcome! I'm hoping that finding friends on MFP with the same type of struggles will help keep me motivated.
  • You're exactly right - food can be an addiction for some people. Unlike drugs, alcohol and tobacco though, you can't just quit cold turkey - you HAVE to eat! I am an overeater and it's a constant battle to fight the desire for certain trigger foods that will derail me from my plan and it's a struggle to try to understand…
  • Awesome!!!
