I try to eat back most of them, but it depends. If I'm not hungry, I don't worry about it. For the record, I am the poster child for eating back your calories and what it can do. I never did before I joined MFP. I was strict 1200 calories a day, and really struggled to lose anything. Now, my goal before exercise is 1400.…

Denise 47 1. I can't watch violence on TV or in movies. I just can't. 2. I live in California and I'm almost phobic about earthquakes. 3. I love honey and Cayenne pepper on popcorn 4. I love history, and books, so I spend a lot of time reading about history. 5. My Basset Hound, Sophie, is my "empty nest" baby. My husband…

You should let her exercise as long as she's interested in exercising, as long as she is properly hydrated and having fun. It's great that you are modeling healthy behavior for her!

One last thing- Any trainer or nutritionist will tell you that 1200 calories is barely enough to sustain the average sized person if all they did was lay in bed all day. So, if you're exercising at all, its simply not enough fuel. You're not only at a calories deficit, you're at a nutritional deficit as well.

I think everyone needs to decide if they are on a "diet", or if they are changing their lifestyle. If your goal is simply to lose weight, than not eating back exercise calories makes sense, in the very short term. In the long term though, it's sure fire failure. Look, I'm in he same boat as everyone else. I had yo-yo…

Yes, yes, yes!!!!! We are getting ready to up my calories again, and I've lost 10 pounds in 4 weeks. How? By exercising and eating lots of great, nutritious food. Eating more, not less, and revving your metabolism with exercise works. I never feel hungry. 1200 Calories is simply not enough nutrition for anyone who is…

A lot of gyms offer one complimentary session with a trainer. Take it. They'll give you a physical assessment and lead you in the right direction.

I don't drink at all. Grew up in a home ravaged by alcohol. My grandparents on my mothers side were both functional alcoholics, my parents on the other hand were very dysfunctional alcoholics. I made the choice early on that this was not something I wanted as part of my life.

I don't log normal housecleaning or cooking, but I do log things that are out of the ordinary. For instance, last week I was doing some really heavy work in my garage for a few hours. I ended up logging it has an hour of light housecleaning, even though it was more like 3 hours of major cleaning, breaking boxes down,…

Wow gobraves, you're the first person I've ever "met" that has had the same diagnosis!

I am a 17 year, stage 2 Uterine Sarcoma survivor. One of those rare cancers, and even rarer in my case since I was 27 when diagnosed. I'm glad you're on this journey!!!!!!

I'm a late eater too. I normally only eat a banana in the morning, about 9, then lunch at between 11:30 and 12:30, dinner at 6 or 7. I don't think it matters when I eat, just that I eat. I snack, but only lightly after dinner as I don't like to go to sleep feeling "full"

My husband, who is in the garage looking for a tool this idiot wanted to borrow, was really shocked at what this guy said, but even more shocked that I didn't hit him over the head with something. He's actually pretty lucky that my husband didn't understand what had happened until after he pulled away.. He was even more…

The worst one I got recently went something like this- I love Skinny Cow Ice cream, and at 100 calories, I fit it in any days I work real hard. It's a great, guilt free treat. Last week, as I was enjoying my treat, an old co-worker of my husbands stopped by. My husband is very proud of me for exercising and losing weight,…

Sweet potatoes are always great, and black beans. How many calories are you looking to stay under with your sides?

I don't think its more expensive to eat healthy. I know changing the way I shop has saved me money, not cost me money, and I've actually started shopping at a store that is a bit more expensive than a traditional grocery store so I can get hormone, steroid and nitrate free meat. Letting go of Soda, sweet tea, flavored…

My mom died at 59. On October 9th, 2011 on what would have been my mom's 73rd birthday, her only sister, and my aunt, passed away at age 60. I had to look at myself in the mirror and ask myself what the heck I was doing. I was a 17 year cancer survivor, yet I smoked. I quit smoking on December 7th, and within a few months,…

I go out by myself all the time, and I live in a city of 150,000. I tend to walk early in the day, and pick areas that are well traveled. We have a downtown shopping area that has a loop that is exactly a mile, so I end up there a lot. Here's the great part, after walking alone for a while, and passing the same people…

I completely agree with you! Look, we're all on a journey here, but its a personal one. Most of us are hard enough on ourselves when we know we've eaten something we shouldn't have, or slacked off for a while on exercising. It's really none of anyone elses business if we take a little detour on our journey. My food Diary…

Welcome to MFP. I tend to like MFP more than Weight Watchers for a lot of reasons, but mostly because if you follow your plan, its not really a diet as much as a retraining to make better choices. Most of the people that I have known that have used weight watchers have gained back a good portion or all of what they lost,…
