  • I'm restarting as well. I was doing so well, then got hit by health issues and a prescription medication, Prednisone, that just packs on weight fast. I'm finally getting my health back on track, I'm off Prednisone after 2 years, and now I need to get the weight off. I'm also a stress eater, and find that going for a walk…
  • welcome back!! I totally understand. I gained 40 pounds when my dad was dying. I spent all my time taking care of him and my family, along the way, I forgot to take care of me.
  • I've been on MFP for about 2 years. I lost more than 20 lbs, had some major back surgery, and went right back to square one. I've been back at it for a couple weeks now, 11 pounds down, but 30 more to go, and friends will help me get there. Let's encourage each other!

  • I just came back about a month ago as Executive Director to a Charity I used to work for as a program director. I was gone for about 6 years. There are a lot of Asian women that come in, and one of them looked at me and said.. and I am not joking, "Why you get so fat?" Me.. I looked at her, laughed, and said, "When you get…
  • I'm 5'5", definitely large framed, and my goal weight is somewhere between 130-140. I'll know it when I get there.
  • ^^^^ Yep, that's me, though I must admit I prefer "Gender-Blind"
  • I'm in Lancaster too! Work in Palmdale!
  • I have a blister on my heel right now, and a job that requires serious time on my feet. I use superglue, it burns a little, but it effectively seals the skin, throw a bandage over it, and I'm back moving immediately. I will do close to 8000 steps tonight, with no pain. It's an old distance hiking/running trick.
  • I don't normally comment on other people's relationships, but this one just got my blood boiling. You are a grown woman, there is no "allowed" here, you make your own choices. That said, you obviously can not leave your children with someone unwilling to look after them, or who would lock them up in their rooms just to…
  • Check to see if you have a freecycle where you are. I just gave away a bunch of clothes on my local version or it. (Google FREECYCLE), Ebay, thrift shops, consignment stores, and Freecycle have been great resources for me. I refuse to buy ANYTHING new right now. Edit.. Well, except bras, undies, and shoes.. those things…

  • I am a pretty well known political type figure where I live, and my weight over the years has been mentioned on a local blog in a not very nice kind of way. It seems to be the way some men attempt to belittle women they can't actually win a debate with. I got to read about my own weight loss the other day when I saw the…
  • Good luck everyone! I quit cold Turkey on December 7th, and I've never felt better. I smoked more than a pack a day, every day, for 30 years. Just like with losing weight, its the mental part of it that's the toughest. If you can get through the first few days, and intentionally bring in habits that can help you when you…
  • I have knee issues, so I can't run, but I use the incline on the treadmill to up my burn. 60 minutes on the treadmill at a gradually increasing, then decreasing incline (I go to 8 right now), burns 400 calories at 3-3.5 MPH (I am 5'%" and weight 167). On days I want to burn 100 more without spending any extra time at the…

  • I have identical twin boys, but mine are 26 now so it is survivable! I also have 6 children, but they are all grown. The oldest is 30, the youngest is 20.
  • I was a 30 year smoker, and I just quit cold turkey. My best friend, also a smoker, barely survived a massive stroke at 50 in September 2011. My aunt, not even 60, passed away the following month, Watching my best friend fight to recover really woke me up. She finally came home from the rehab center on December 6, and I…
  • Well, I can only say this.. I eat pretty well, but I don't claim to be a clean eater. Lots of fresh fruit, fresh veggies, whole grains, and lean protein in my diet. BUT, if someone tries to take my Skinny Cow away, we're gonna have a problem. Seriously, its all about your goals. I have no intention of running marathons, or…

  • My now husband waited a year. We were both fairly freshly divorced when we met, and neither of us wanted to make that kind of mistake again. So, we built a strong foundation as friends first for a year, lived together for a year, then we were engaged for a year. We married 3 years and one week from our first date. We've…
  • I grill them, and use this as a glaze Honey/Jalapeno Glaze 1/4 tsp. grated lime peel 2 tbsp. lime juice 1 tbsp. honey 1/4 c. olive oil 2 tsp. chopped fresh jalapeno peppers or use canned Dash of ground nutmeg
  • This is how I handle it. If I work out during the day, I normally don't have a big issue eating back most of my calories, I just plan for it. When I work out at night, particularly nights when I burn 500-600 calories, I simply listen to my body. Most times if I'm a little hungry I'll eat a protein bar (180 calories), or a…

  • Oh my gosh, if I ever said out loud what I think in my head some days, I'd be going straight to....... My mind is much more evil than I would ever be.
  • I'm not one of those "Coke is evil" people, in fact, I believe that everything is fine, in moderation. For me, when I really want something carbonated and sugary tasting, I just go for the real thing. 1 Dr. Pepper, coming up. I just count the calories. I don't drink it very often, but when I really want one, I do. I sort…
  • They need to be resized
  • I call my husband "hubby", he calls me his "bride", it makes us both smile. It works for us, and shouldn't offend anyone else, after all, its sort of none of anyone's business what I call him.. except maybe our children and his mom..
