You will get alot more useful feedback if you unlock your food diary. There are many threads on your question. Weight loss is strickly calorie count, good health is based on the quality of food contained in those calories.

Try finding your local high school track. They are often rubberized which is better on your joints and usually void of people. Then when you feel more confident then hit your local streets. Plus, the quarter mile track makes it very easy to track progress and improvement.

Easy solution ... make her pre-pay for 12 weeks with no refunds if she doesn't complete the cycle. I worked with a trainer for the first time last summer and that was her policy and it worked for me.

Are you eating back your exercise calories? And how much water are you gettting in each day? Diet Sodas? Closed diaries make it hard to help. At what intensity are you exercising?
