FreeMotion® 510 Rear Drive Elliptical

I am thinking about getting this Elliptical for the husband and I, but I am stuck on knowing how to pick the right Elliptical. Anyone have this machine, is it a good one? Any suggestions would be appreciated. The FreeMotion® 510 Rear Drive Elliptical is $600 at my husbands work, is it worth it, any other better machines for that price or less? Thank you!

No experience with it but here is a link that might help.

"The lack of warranty on the 510 would be concerning if not for Costco's lifetime return policy. The 510 is basically a stripped down version of NordicTrack's Audiostrider 990 pro. Solid quality with an excellent feel give the 510 a lot of pluses to recommend it."

I have one and I love it but one BIG caution is check the weight restrictions. I am a big guy and mine has broke twice even though i was below the weight rating. I suggest being at least 75 LBS under the weight rating for safety. i was 50 LBS under mine and it still broke twice. But they are great and a good workout. So if the weight rating is 300 make sure nobody using it is over 225 or so, IMO

I workout on my elliptical almost every day. I use the Livestrong LS10.0e. It is an awesome machine. Great quality and great support from Livestrong. Mine was a demo model and need a couple of things repaired. They put a tech right in my house and replaced everything. Telephone support is all from North America (USA). It sells for $900-$1000 but you might want to check out the model down the LS 8.0e Still a bit more but a great machine. Not as many bells and whistles as the 10 but very smooth and natural stride just like the 10. I don't know the FreeMotion but I did own a nice Nordic Track before this one. The livestrong has been a much nice machine to workout on.

Feel free to message me if you have any questions about my machine. Been using it about a year.
  • Thank you, I am the heaviest person who would be using it and I weigh 200lbs.

When I purchased my Elliptical, I went to Sports Authority and actually got on and got the feel for several before choosing mine. I found there to be a huge difference in how if felt to be on them, the arm motion, the smoothness of the stride etc. I ended up with a Gold's Gym model for between 5-600 and have used it without a problem for several years now. I would definately get on one before choosing it. If it jars or is uncomfortable for your size/height/weight then you won't want to get on it.
  • Did you end up buying this? i just purchased one. Havent used it yet. seem like a nice unit.
