  • I had gastric sleeve in August. Big thing to remember is it is a tool, not a cure. I will say I am no longer starving ALL the time. That for me is a major plus. Now I can think ahead to make meals or snack healthy, don't buy crap when I am in grocery store & think before I order @ restaurants. I am still losing SLOWLY, but…
  • I had the surgery in August. Have not lost anywhere near the weight I hoped (30#), but am working from home, have a very sedentary life & am having a very hard time planning meals. It is a tool, not a "cure" for anything. I am able to eat less, but still need a kick in the butt to get off the couch & MOVE! Would love it if…
  • where did you find those? I am having same issue.
  • great idea
  • Have a Harley Deluxe, ride for fun short trips. Need to start doing more, but since I work @ home, it is hard to ride to work.
  • I am having probs finding foods for quick snacks. I sit at a desk 8 hrs +/day & am getting tired of naked almonds. I love crunch.
  • Keep in mind the biggest losers are exercising HARD 8-12 hrs per day. For healthy long term weight loss, the goal is still 1-2#/wk. You are doing GREAT!
  • I would love to have you encourage me & I will do the same for you. I have lost 55# so far after having a lapband surgery. I still have 60-80# to go & have had to change my thinking re. having it just fall off without doing any work. That is why I am back on fitness pal. You can do this!
  • I am also a "restarter." I had been losing weight after a lapband surgery in 2010 by just not being able to eat as much or as fast as I had before. Figured that would be the magic bullet. Well....I recently began gaining a few lbs, had a "come to Jesus" meeting with my doc & am now doing what he has been telling me to do…
  • Definately count it! I also rescued a dog recently, a little australian shephard. Interesting, since I had always said I never wanted a "working" dog 'cause I was too lazy to walk/work as much as they wanted. Glad I have her now.
  • I had completely forgotten about Lent. I will however give up being so hard on myself. I will treat myself the way I treat others & allow myself human failures that in other I usually overlook, but kill myself over.
  • Oops! Yes it is "Eating for Life" by Bill Phillips. I am really loving the recipes that I have read...now just need to get to the store to buy what I forgot over the weekend. I wasn't really thinking at the store & forgot stuff for "midmorning/midafternoon" meals. Got fruit, but no cottage cheese for the protein. Stopping…
  • Has anyone watched Sandra Lee's new show, Meals on a Budget (or some such name)? She will make a low cal meal, but does talk about then making something else w/left overs so you are not eating the same thing everyday. She also puts in there how much it will cost for each serving of everything in the meal. I am hoping she…
  • I lost 6# in 5 days. I really don't care if it is water or fat at this point since I also have over 100# to lose. I have always found the first week or so I loose a lot, esp. if I drop the diet sodas & drink water instead...which I am doing. Right now having a snack of microwave lite orville's popcorn & Special K2O.
  • I have been doing pretty good w/this, but how much fiber are you trying to get in? I have switched to whole grain breads & pastas, brown rice or some of the grains I hadn't heard of much before (Quinoa), a ton of raw veggies & fruits. It seems the raw veggies have more fiber in them than most fruits. I also am using…
  • That sounds fantastic. I will pick up the tabasco on the way home to try.
  • How about anything you would have for dinner or lunch? One of my favs when I am traveling is a cheeseburger. I have also brought boca burgers & multigrain buns to work & made them there. Everyone thinks I am nuts, but it certainly keeps me full for a lot longer than the donuts everyone else is eating. Also, I have brought…
  • I have them. Not sure if they will really make my workout better, but I noticed my feet don't hurt as much when I wear them. I bought them because of my heel spurs...I can say I notice when I am not wearing them because my feet start to hurt again, so for me they are certainly worth the $$$$$.
  • I'm in. I am considering myself new to MFP as I have been gone so long. I gained about 20# the last 6 months, so my goal is to lose that PLUS another 100. It seems way too difficult to say I need to lose 120#, so I like the 10# @ a time. CW 269.2 & I feel horrible. As all of you know, it means clothes don't fit, waistbands…
  • Well, I am back to 259.4; seems the more I cook, the easier it is to not eat. Make any sense? I can only think that as I prepare I am more aware of everything about the food & knowing I am really a good cook. It helps that everyone else enjoys the food & appreciates the amount of work that went in to the prep. sue
  • Hi all. I was able to lose another 1.4# & am finding that the more I cook, the less I crave food. Maybe actually PREPARING the food allows me to realize that it is not just the food that is "filling" me. I am able to actually get joy from the prep & it also helps my self confidence & self esteem to know that I really am a…
  • Morning all! I had a great night last night because of this thread. I did some yard work, then came in, made leftover meatloaf for dinner, had one cupcake (someone made them for me) & I was done for the night! I couldn't beleive it myself. I understand the loving chocolate. I am finding if I don't have any to begin with, I…
  • Hey Summer, that book sounds great. I will definately look for it at the library. If you do a thread w/it, please notify me as I am DEFINATELY interested. I stopped drinking w/the help of AA & know the power of group & 12 steps...just, DUH, never thought of using it for food. Thanks so much. I feel great today. I made a…
  • WOW! We are all doint very well already, really. I turned down going to DQ after lunch today & instead went for a 20 mintue walk! Yes I CAN DO IT!!
  • I'll join!! My name is Sue, have been a nurse x 32 years & been on "diets" for 30 years, so I definately have had multiple chances to learn new behaviors:angry: . I am also a food addict:sad: . I have found that I do eat when I am sad or stressed  . Yesterday was good...I was allowing the stress get to me re. my job &…
  • I am wondering how this would do in a crockpot. I may try tonight as this sounds delish...or maybe I will just actually COOK!!!
  • I am back to 261!!! I know it was the day at the state fair, but I am being kind to myself. I will weigh in tomorrow or Wednesday & hope it was mostly salt. I walked for 6-7 hrs at the fair on Saturday, had BBQ ribs(4), ribbon fries, one deep fried snickers & over 8 glasses of water. Sunday I went to breakfast & did…
  • The bad thing about living in NC, most of the fair foods are available year round. :explode: One of the new "foods" this year was bacon dipped in chocolate & FRIED BUTTER!!!!!!! I did not even try either of those. I will say I did well today too. Went to the mall w/a friend, walked for two hours & when we went to lunch had…
  • Thanks! It wasn't as bad as I thought...not that it was good. Thank goodness I walked around for over 7 hours! We only rode 3 rides, the rest of the time was walking or standing.
  • I'm in. I won't put down what I want to lose since that has always been a hang up for me. I put down how much I want to lose, then get disgusted & disapointed when I slip up & just eat everything I can find. Now I am planning on trying to eat healthy & stay away from junk food, at least for "right now." I have done…
