  • The starches in the sweet potato are converted to sugar in the baking process, it effectives the Glycemic Index of the food. The longer and slower that it is baked more sugar is released. Unless you are a diabetic or need to monitor your blood sugar it matters very little in the end…
  • Like the poster above stated, you'll get out of it what you put into it. I hate the gym and dont have the physical stamina or ability to do prgs like PX90. Daily burn gives a lot of options and even within each program they will show modifications you can do. Results are subjective. I do a lot of the yoga and pilates so my…
  • I got a subscription to the Daily Burn for Christmas, I just use it on the website or the Xbox. I love it! you can do the daily 365 or pick a program and follow along.
  • Are you talking about your Net Calories being at 500-1000? How long do you plan on being upright and coherent?
  • thanks but I will stick with my home workouts or wait till the News Year rush has passed ;) ...seriously there are many obese ppl with social anxiety that are intimidated enough as it is to even consider stepping into a gym only to be confronted with these types of attitudes.
  • Its attitudes like this that have kept me from ever stepping into a gym. These posts have popped up on every social media site in the past few days and gives the impression that newbies are not welcome at all.
  • I made the mistake of having a few too many over the summer combined with not enough sleep. Got up in the morning still tipsy an jumped on the treadmill, trust me it was an ugly sight not to mention smelly. My feet refused to cooperate felt like I had glue on them, I stumbled several times and got pretty bruised up but the…
  • I take a multivitamin, if I stop for a week or more my appetite seems to go through the roof for the first couple of days when I resume so its a possible cause. Like @Christinev297 said maybe a week at maintenance calories will help as well.....just dont freak out!
  • Its just something we all go though at some point. It could be any one of a number of things, the holidays, tired of weighing and measuring every morsel, just plain hungry, vitamin deficiency. You have made great progress so far and a little extra every now and then wont hurt, just get in the right mind frame and jump back…
  • I'm 56 starting using fitnessblender.com, its all body weight or dumbbells exercises. I modified many of them to suit my fitness level till I built up enough strength and stamina to keep up with the videos. It really doesnt take long as long as you keep at it but at the same time listen to your body if it hurts STOP.…
  • This site has a lot calculators that are pretty accurate for various exercises that you can use to double check against MFP calculations http://www.shapesense.com/fitness-exercise/calculators/walking-calorie-burn-calculator.aspx
  • Its normal to be protective. I've had a few out and out noisy people ask what Im doing and one just make a comment that made my jaw drop, but for the most part they just ask is that a new outfit or are you wearing your hair different. You can hold your head a little higher that someone is noticing your efforts and learn to…
  • Not sure about the insurance, I think it is only covered if its causing you medical issues. Out of pocket for neck/face lift was anywhere from $6,000- $11,000 and arm sculpting was another $5,000- $8000 that includes an overnight stay at the hospital and all aftercare.
  • That is incredible, you look wonderful. I had consultations with several plastic surgeons for just a neck and face lift and some sculpting on my arms as that is my trouble spots and was told by each one to wait at least 1 yr after losing weight to see how much will go tighten up on its own. If its bothersome and causing…
  • Current source is water from the Great Lakes . I do filter it but there's times when stench is over whelming
  • I grew up drinking well water that smelled of rotten eggs. Municipal water here depending on the season tastes like chlorine or is fishy smelling. Too cheap to buy bottled water. My water has to have something in it even if its just a splash of lemon
  • The worst had to be when a co- worker come up to me to tell me how great I looked but she didnt think it was possible for someone my age to lose weight...WTF
  • Sadly any HRM is not meant to be worn 24/7 so any readings you get will be wildly off. If you want something that tracks daily activity you will need to look into a Fitbit or Polar Loop or some other all day tracker
  • Lentils & Rice with sauteed onions, sprinkled in with some cumin
  • Depends on the brand, some you have stir really well every time you use them to mix the oils. I dont care for it on toast but I do like it in my oatmeal or in a smoothie
  • The only work around is to use recipes posted on a blog or website and import it from there, at least from the MFP website it will give you a link back for directions, doesnt work on the app though
  • Science changes almost daily anymore , very few people are actually affected by dietary cholesterol, I am one of them not significantly but it does change my overall numbers if I go overboard with it. Statins are not my drug of choice but when nothing else works you do what you have to do
  • I had extremely high cholesterol, high blood pressure and a heart attack to top it off. They limited my dietary cholesterol to 200mg vs the 300 MFP defaults to, lowered my sodium intake and started exercising and now my numbers are back in the normal to low ranges. I started off adding in more veggie dishes and now do a…
  • You dont have to go full vegetarian for health unless you want to. I know many fat & unhealthy vegetarians. Adding more vegetarian dishes into your diet can help over all along with exercise. I eat them because I like them and I can stretch out my grocery budget better with a bag of dry beans and a bag of veggie further…
