I keep a bag in my locker at work.

I was all of that. If you looked at my medical records I was very healthy. Hardly ever got sick (not even the common cold), all of my blood work was normal, etc. But I was 30 pounds overweight and I wasn't happy with myself. I've lost the weight and am now strength training and have never been happier. So is being…

Thank you! My kids and my husband all lift with me and sometimes my husband tends to get hung up on form (he gets after me for not lowering it far enough) and that's when I lightened the weights. Maybe I should add more weight on one of the reps and just ignore him

I wish my gym had fractional weight plates but theirs increase in 5 lb increments. You wouldn't think that was a lot but it is!

I was afraid this might be the issue. I'm eating at a caloric deficit but not a huge deficit. I'm anywhere from 1,000-2,000 calories under for the week. The thought of eating at a surplus scares me to death.

I've never thought about my body build. I don't think my arms are overly long. At least no one has told me they are

I do vary between the barbell and the dumbbell but I've just recently started doing this so maybe I have to give it a little more time. I haven't tried varying when I do them in my workout. I always do them first after stretching. Maybe I'll try that too. Thank you so much for your suggestion.

I have a question for all of you weightlifting ladies. I can't seem to increase weight with my bench press. I've been doing it for about 6 months now and I haven't really gone up in weight. I started at 35 lbs and am now benching 65lbs. I was benching 75lbs but realized my form was bad because the weight was too heavy so…

You shouldn't be miserable at all! A lot of people gave you great advice and I'll just add my .02. Don't be miserable. Don't dread losing weight. If you do then you won't stick to it or you'll overeat in retaliation. You will find your balance and you will find foods that fit into your lifestyle. It just takes time. Read…

Clif Bars. They have lots of different flavors. Toffee Buzz is my favorite

Other than the cringe I get when I read it? It doesn't in the short term. It just makes me sad that 1) people don't know the difference between the two words when they are grade school spelling words. And 2) It makes me sadder that people shrug and say it doesn't make a difference when it very clearly does make a…

YES it matters! They are two entirely different meanings. Do we know what the poster means? Yes, but that doesn't make it grammatically correct.

I didn't read the study but from what you posted it doesn't seem all that bad if your lifestyle can conform to that. About five days a week I could eat like that but it doesn't take into consideration dinners out with friends or a date night with your significant other. It's all well and good to count calories and have…

THIS is why Jof is on my FL. And this is why I troll the forums. I find the helpful ones and friend them. I also friend the funny ones but that's for a different post

And this is exactly why you are on my FL.

I've been using MFP for two years. It took me awhile to figure out there were forums but when I did a whole new world was opened to me. I'm a changed person. Because of the forums I have learned so much and I am now healthier than I've ever been and I thank MFP for it. Are there mean people? I haven't seen any and I'm on…

I've had two c-sections. 20 years ago and 14 years ago. Truthfully, I requested the second one. I had a vaginal birth in between the two and the recovery from the vaginal birth was sooooo much harder than the c-sections. If I'd had more kids I would have requested more c-sections. I too have an overhang and just resigned…

I love the forums. There is a wealth of information here if you're willing to dig for it. After awhile you will figure out what threads are hot button threads and you will know to stay away from them (not that I do. I actually enjoy reading the hot button threads).. I lurk a lot and I have never, ever, EVER posted a topic…

This is very similar to the article I read the other day: http://www.fitocracy.com/knowledge/7-training-rules-to-lift-by/?utm_source=Fitocracy+Users&utm_campaign=1231b48b16-Content_Scared_I_m_going_to_cheat&utm_medium=email&utm_term=0_c1f25ec28f-1231b48b16-249160001

I do a combination of a bunch of programs that I've discovered while researching heavy lifting. By trial and error I've found what works for me, what I like and what I don't like. I started with SL 5x5 and really like the concept of a few lifts every other day. Slowly I've added other things to it.

My son's high school graduation this coming Saturday. My daughter graduated two years ago and when I saw the pictures I was devastated by how fat I was. It was the motivation I needed to lose weight. Now, two years later I've lost most of the weight. My goal for my son's graduation was to build muscle in my arms so I…

5'8", 165 pounds, size 10 pants and a large shirt only because the girlfriends won't go down in size and they won't fit into a medium  :noway:

I didn't understand TDEE and BMI and macros when I first started on here either. I just ate what MFP suggested and I lost weight. Your profile says you joined in May and your ticker says you lost five pounds. That's exactly where you should be. You ARE losing. You're just not losing fast enough for you. It didn't take a…

You have to do what's right for you. Not what worked for someone else. No one person is the same. We all lost weight by trial and error, trying different things for a while until we found what worked for us. For me it was eating at a deficit but still eating the foods I loved. I knew if I cut out my favorite foods that it…
