It really is about how you feel. I'm technically obese according to my BMI, but I'm probably healthier than most of my friends. Of course, they are also the ones who feel the need to tell me I'm anorexic (as I'm holding a plate of veggies chatting with them) because I no longer look like I did 90 lbs ago. Personally, I…

YAY - - Finally the scale moves for me. 215.4

Nothing wrong with "bragging" - - that's a major accomplishment. I started my 1/2 today, but didn't finish it (darn weather!) Laserbeale: I'm not exactly in your age group, or size (5'8" and 46 yrs) but I'd be more than happy to swap nutrition ideas for runners with you. We can all use a little help and ideas for all areas…

Brian, thanks for posting that. I've not been laid low by ITBS, but it definiately has impacted my running. I had only been doing the roling, which eased the symptoms. However, I've been working on my hip muscles (totally un-running related exercises) and now that I think about it my IT's haven't bothered me as much during…

Your body is getting used to your new regime. And hormones, stress, and exercise all have an impact. I find that I'll go through cycles like that. Just stick to your guns with the healthy choices. You're building habits now - - and you are working on retraining not only your body but your mind as well. Making the healthy…

I personally don't eat "clean" but I eat healthy. My microwave is a staple in my kitchen, and "organic" only gets purchased if it's on sale (since it's always more expensive). Processed still hits the pantry shelves every once in a while - - as long as the nutritional value is what I'm looking for (for example: Instant…

Interesting numbers. Thanks for posting those. Protein is one of those things I struggle with - trying to find the balance of what's the right amount. I'm definitely going to look at those numbers more seriously in my list of macros.

Congrats from me too (from another big looser - 70 lbs and counting). I didn't peek at your diary but I'd say bump your protein intake, especially earlier in the day. It will help you feel full longer, so you won't get those cravings later in the day when you are reaching for the fruit. Good luck on the small tweak! Those…

Some awesome responses - - but I have to say home baking is mine. I can do chips, pizza, chocolate, gummie bears, ice cream all in moderation - - or even say "No thanks". But set a plate of home baked squares in front of me and watch your fingers 'cuz you might loose one.

Unless you're on the last couple of weeks working towards a Fitness Competition (which, in my opinion, is incorrectly named, btw), you seem to have forgotten any carbs! I agree, I think you're shooting yourself in the foot by going too low on the daily calories . . .

Yay - finally I remember to log in before you update the worksheet  219.4 today. Not a great loss, but I'll take anything at this point in time.

From Alberta, Canada, I can say that I don't spend a whole lot of $$ on the apparel for running other than the shoes. When I'm running outside in the cold, it's more about layers than name brands. I wear my workout shorts under just my regular brand of yoga pants (Ieast expensive I can find at the time that I need them). I…

It almost sounds like you're over training. I'd suggest taking a few days off (if possible) and up your good fats on a regular basis. I've found adding some avocado and cod liver oil (yes, not a great taste, but it works) seems to have helped me keep my energy up with the hormone spikes that come with being over 40 without…

219.6 :ohwell:

I used to drink about 3 litres a day - - although I have cut back a little (only because I keep forgetting to fill my water bottle). I do try to have a Gatorade once a week just to make sure I keep up with the electrolytes.
-
My son used to throw up on a regular basis because of emotional distress. I tried everything to try to stopp the "up-chuck" cycle, but ended up talking him to a psycologist because of the underlying reason. Her solution was to have him try to relax himself - - his relaxation technique was to sing to himself. i know it…

It totally is, although I know for myself I forgot that I wasn't exercising as much and didn't adjust my food intake after I stopped training, so it didn't go down as much as I wanted. . Just continue to make the good choices, and to track what you eat. It'll go back down. Did you eat lots of protein after your race? That…

Love this one!! If you're busty, then it's the loosing weight that makes them saggy. One of my girlfriends lost 120lbs, didn't run a step - and calls hers "oranges in socks". Gravity will also always have it's way. I run on a regular basis, and have nice perky girls - - and the Mamograms to prove it LOL Lots of great…

I agree - - stress, extra activity, and all sorts of things can impact you. I know my cramps get wicked if I work out like mad and don't add extra fats in the week before. Being younger will be to your benefit - but it will take some tweaking in your nutrition to find a solution. I, personally, haven't found the medical…

I've had it both ways - - not being willing to allow myself to cheat because of the calories and also being to the point of bingeing and then experiencing the guilt. (today's motto is my 11th commandment - Thou shalt not judge me and my diet!) I don't think it's an unusual thing - - it's just one of those things you need…

Not nuts at all! If you train, you'll be just fine. Make sure you stretch between the 2 races a little bit so that you don't stiffen up. It really is about the training, tho. Good luck - - and kick butt!!

Well, I need inspiration and a focus, so I'm game  Weekly Goal: 3500 Mon: 151 (cleaning garage) Tues: calories burned (how they were burned) Wed: calories burned (how they were burned) Thur: calories burned (how they were burned) Fri: calories burned (how they were burned) Sat: calories burned (how they were burned)…

219.0 this week. Now if only I can keep heading in the right direction!

I do an egg sandwich every day in my car. 2 slices of toast, then some days it's a fried egg, others it's a couple of hard boiled eggs. (I find that once I slice the hard boiled ones, they do make a bit of a mess tho). I also have a small cup of fruit - grapes or apple slices. The fried egg works pretty good with the…

I find that I have to eat the protein right away - - not just within the hour, but before I even change out of my sweaty clothes. I've also gone to having a protein drink (even tho I promised myself not to use supplements rather than "real" food) but that's the only way I've found to stave off the after burn hunger…

I'm a total potato addict and I had thought I'd never be able to eat potatoes again - - but I discovered this a while back and it has saved me. I enjoy mashed potatoes this way - and don't get as worried about the serving size.
-
Excellent!! So fabulous that you posted this. Hope you Stretch, stretch, stretched after running - and enjoyed the runners high. I'm sure we'll be seeing you post that you've done more in coming months LOL
-
I totally get that. I try to limit myself from eating anything after 8pm. BUT if I'm feeling hungry at bedtime I know I won't sleep, so I will have a protein (like a yogurt) before bed. You have to end up figuring what works for your body / schedule - - I wouldn't be able to have toast & jam before bed like Rockabillywif…

Soooooo frustrated. I could blame it on sodium, TOM and all sorts of other things, but mostly I have to admit it's what I've put in my mouth and didn't do with my feet Back up again this week. 221.4  :grumble:
