  • Yeesh...$5400?!?!? Pay that to me and I'll be your best friend for life! Call me any time you want to put a donut in your mouth! (PS... All those coaching things she promised are basically available here on MFP for free) And 8-10 lbs a month is actually quite achievable on just a basic CICO diet with exercise. Soooo...…
  • You need to read a book called The Four Agreements. One of the agreements (arguably the most important one) is "don't take anything personally" because honestly, everyone has their own biases and agenda behind what they say/ do. So you have to ask yourself, what might have motivated him to say that? Does he prefer larger…
  • I had the gastric sleeve in 2013 and it was the greatest thing I've ever done. My husband also had it done also. I went from 235 (I'm 5'6") to 148 in about 8 months. I gained about 12 lbs the year following but was pretty happy with the way I felt at 160. I got pregnant in 2016 and a week after delivery weighed 170... so…
  • Many years ago I lost quite a bit of weight and someone gave me the "how'd you do it". I just replied "pretty much just stopped eating". She replied "I was afraid you were going to say that". Everyone wants there to be some magic pill/thing/action that makes it easier, while still being able to eat donuts.
  • I've always wondered....isn't intermittent fasting just a fancy term for "skipping breakfast"?
  • Amazing!
  • Amazing!
  • Wowser! That looks like mother and daughter!
  • Starting weight was 185, currently 178. Hoping to get to 135. I'm 5'7", 34 yrs old
  • We're similar in stats. I started last week and have already lost 6lbs! For me, I just decided this WILL work. If I stay in my calories I WILL lose weight. Maybe not every week, but if I commit to doing this for a year, there's no way at the end of the year that I'll be in the same condition as I am now. It's as simple as…
  • I've been trying for about 1200 for 5 days now. I find I keep going over a bit, about 1300-1400ish, but I figure I'll still doing better than I was. Hopefully I'll keep adjusting down. Feel free to add me
  • So how many calories are all you EBF mommies trying to stick to? I'm between 1500-1800
  • I just bought the charge 2. I did a fair amount of research and the consensus was that the charge 2 was currently the best one. I ALMOST went with the Alta because it's smaller, but so many of the reviews said the charge 2 was better, so it's what I stuck with
  • I'm 8 months pp too. I'm still exclusively breastfeeding and trying to figure out how to lose the weight without screwing up my supply
  • What calories are you using?
  • I'm 8.5 months post partum and have really struggled with the weight gain. A week after giving birth I was only about 5 lbs heavier than before getting pregnant, but then I gained like 12 lbs! That doesn't sound like a lot, but it's enough that none of my clothes fit now. I went from a size 10 to size 14 now! So this week…
  • Thanks for your reply!
  • If you look at the lables, you can usually find an ice cream bar that is fairly low calorie and less than at 20 carbs. Ice cream makes me happy, so it feels like a sinful treat. Costco has really good fudge bars for 100 calories.
  • Thanks all. I did have my nummy snack and didn't even feel bad about it after reading all your comments
  • Lol! I'm not sure what that is, but good for you! :)
  • I guess it just seems like a healthier alternative would be carrots or fruit or something. I just feel guilty eating something relatively nutrient free. I keep thinking that since I'm eating so much less (1500 ish calories) I should make every bite be as nutritionally sound as possible. But then again, my little snack…
  • Giving it up completely is really the only way to go. In the beginning I chewed a lot of sugar free gum and a lot of sugar free mints. I especially like Icebreakers Sours for curbing my sweet cravings. I went cold turkey for close to six months and it really does get easier after a few weeks. And I have to say, when it…
  • For me, the answer is .. Yes AND No. Once I got to my goal weight, I was able to eat things I hadn't eaten while getting to my goal weight, and found that I didn't gain weight right away (like I'd feared). I actually went along for about 7 months basically just eating what I wanted and still maintaining. But then,…
  • I was at 148 right before Christmas which was actually about a 4 lb loss since Thanksgiving. I think what happened with me is that I had indulged in naughty Christmas treats, and when I didn't gain, but actually lost, I thought "wow, I can eat these naughty things with no consequence". Thus began my post Christmas binge.…
  • I think if they're younger than 13-14ish, you shouldn't have them monitoring their calories. Focus on things like eliminating sweets and soda, etc. You said your older daughter is goal oriented, so what about a reward system for eliminating sugar, increasing vegetables and exercising? I would imagine something like that…
  • THIS! In the past, for me, when I "fall of the wagon" I use it as an excuse to just keep eating. The "oh well, I've screwed up, what's the point" mentality. You just need to get it in your head that this is ONE day. You won't gain all your weight back from one day of overeating, and if you make it part of your diet plan,…
  • I don't disagree with you. You're earlier post about how there's inconsitencies in how she's tracking is certainly valid. I'm just suggesting that the quality of her choices may also lead to her inability to lose weight, even if she's on track with her calories. As an obese person (I'm sorry if that sounds harsh OP.. it's…
  • TOO MUCH SUGAR. You've got to cut that crap out.
  • Wow... that calorie goal seems awful high. I would think 1600-1800 would seem more appropriate. I understand that may be what is being calculated, but the proof is in the pudding. If you're not losing weight then your deficit needs to be greater. How are you carbs? I try to shoot for less than 100 carbs and get at least…
