Motivation needed

I’ve tried all diets you can think off, military diet, herba life, hydroxycut, “nuez de la India”, working out, hoodia Cambodia, you name it. Yet, I realize they all work ... ONLY for a while. At the end, it all comes down to consistency and change of lifestyle. I realize to be consistent, I need to be strong minded and be motivated. I want to be healthy and feel comfortable in what I wear. Today is my first day of this journey. I am 5’5 at 175. I want to be 135lbs. I am going to give it my all. I am committed and excited. With motivational comments from this forum, I will gain confidence despite any hurdles that I might bump into. I will be posting tips that I know as well. Thank you guys

Motivation and support are overrated. Set up a good, reasonable, concrete but flexible plan, and be disciplined to follow it. Consistency isn't that hard when stop dividing foods into good/bad (good being the food you think you should eat, and bad food the food you want). All foods can be eaten in moderation. Make physical activity a natural part of your day, so you don't have to think about it.20

You can do it. I've been reading a lot and yes its all about discipline and consistency. Motivation only gets you started, the discipline and habit keeps you going.
Just like you today is also the first day of my journey. Downloaded the app today, and im aiming for a marathon by the end of the year. I consider myself healthy, but have never calorie counted in my life. today is a good day to start for all of us.

We're similar in stats. I started last week and have already lost 6lbs! For me, I just decided this WILL work. If I stay in my calories I WILL lose weight. Maybe not every week, but if I commit to doing this for a year, there's no way at the end of the year that I'll be in the same condition as I am now. It's as simple as that.2

Hi OP. Like you, I'm 5'5, but my starting weight was 185.
The good news is that I've now been maintaining my goal weight of 137 for about 9 months.
But, what you may be interested to read is that it took me about a year and a half to get to maintenance. Slow. Steady. Manageable. Maintainable. Lots of things I had to learn about not eating too much.

My advice to you, OP, is to start by reading all the stickied posts in the forums. It wasn't until I started reading those that I realized what I really needed to do to make this a permanent and sustainable change.
The most important thing for myself is remembering that it isn't about being perfect. It's about being consistent.3 -

That's great. The only other thing I'd add is that consistently good is better than occasionally perfect.

Motivation is a great way to start, but be thinking about how you're going to do what you need to do and be consistent even on those days you don't wake up with motivation. Establish habits.0

And I would just add, you make it as *easy* for yourself as possible to achieve the discipline & good habits. In other words, a reasonable weekly weight loss goal (likely not 2 lbs/week) and a diet that doesn't require a complete overhaul of your food choices.1
