  • When I started I ran at a 5.0 with a 1% incline. I did all the training on the treadmill and my first outside run was at the 5k. As the times and distances get longer the faster speed will catch up with you and make it too difficult to finish. As for the liking it part, it took almost a full year for me to get to that…
  • What I lost in terms of freedom I have gotten back a hundredfold in fulfillment, love, joy, and purpose. There are certainly hard times but they don't compare to the moments when one of them spontaneously throws their little arms around me and tells me they love me. And so, while I adore naptime, there's nothing quite like…
  • Most half marathon training programs I've seen start with running 2-3 miles at a stretch. You might work on getting that solid while you wait to start your program. I did my half marathon in September. I started with Couch to 5k to get to 3 miles and then started a training program after that. Good luck!
  • I accounted for nursing in the food section. Look up breastfeeding and it will knock off 500 calories for you. And, just so you know, not everyone drops weight while nursing. I always gained. Boo. Hopefully it will be better next time when I actually have a good idea of what I'm doing Congrats on the new baby!
  • We are kindred spirits. My spreadsheet is full of pattern numbers and a dressform would be a great way to celebrate the ultimate goal!
  • I'm liking breakfast quinoa right now. You just have to adjust what gets mixed in to fit within calorie goals. It looks like the oatmeal I'm used to, but the texture is different. http://www.marthastewart.com/314453/breakfast-quinoa
  • I agree with the previous poster about using sewing pattern sizes. They are not flattering, but they are standard across pattern companies and they are consistent. I'm a seamstress so I always have several measuring tapes around. Those sizes are a good reference whether or not you sew. Too bad it doesn't help when actually…
  • I finished it at the beginning of this month. The workout was great for me. I took off Sundays as rest days, as well as Christmas. I gained weight and you can't see any difference in the pictures because in December I ate every single Christmas goodie I was given. Oops. The good news came after I started eating right…
  • Done. My husband laughed his face off when he heard me screaming after my two year old decided it was a great time to play horsey with me. :noway: At least I only had 15 seconds left.
  • Lift one foot off the ground a few inches. Also, I'm in.
  • Monday will be my last day of 30DS. My plan is to start alternating days of lifting with days of high intensity interval running. I'll do that for a few weeks before starting Ripped in 30. I figure (hope) that will keep my body from getting used to doing the same kinds of activities and keep me losing. Good…
  • My girls are Eliana Raye and Maya Jade. My son is Quintin James. We had to compromise on the second "i" in his name because I wanted "o" and hubby wanted "e". Neither of us would budge so he got the "i". Boo. At least it wasn't the "e". If we have another boy I like the name Patrick. If we have another girl I like…
  • Look to see if Bountiful Baskets (bountifulbaskets.org) is in your area. There are lots of locations in NV. It's $15 whenever you order and comes with 5 kinds of fruits and 5 kinds of vegetables. You don't know what you're going to get week to week, but that's part of the fun to me. Last week I got cauliflower, two yellow…
  • Please, PLEASE tell me I'm not the only one to find the videos on the original article. No need to read or watch, just scroll down to the videos and look at the expression on the guy's face: hemorrhoids and relief. HAHAHAHAHAHA! http://articles.mercola.com/sites/articles/archive/2012/12/03/toilet-squatting-position.aspx
  • I use food to give me patience. One Kirkland brand salted caramel macadamia nut cluster adds 20 minutes of sanity to my mind. It keeps me from locking my children in the basement when they're having a rotten day.
  • I amazed at your tummy, right below your belly button. It looks terrific! Losing that made your hips smoother. I just did day two and I hope to see results like yours when I'm done. Way to go!
  • Thanks to all. Sometimes it just takes a little venting and a few deep breaths to get the patience back. And to those who have been scared of having kids from the thread...don't be. They add an extra, wonderful dimension (despite the dementia) to life.
  • My 4 year old is convinced we're buying her the $150 Disney princess castle...not sure where she got that idea. She and her 2 year old sister each get a new doll, book, and a small art toy to keep them still and quiet(ish) during church. My 7 month old boy will be getting a high chair, board book, and a small toy he can…
  • My baby eats six(ish) times during waking hours, so I try to eat when he does. I often only get three mealtimes in, but I've still been losing. Log and eat back your breastfeeding calories for sure. This is the first time I haven't been simply gaining weight while nursing. I like it better this way.
  • I also like it with 1 c. chocolate almond milk, 1/2 c. vanilla greek yogurt, 1/2 T. peanut butter, plenty of kale, and a frozen ripe banana. It makes my morning happy.
  • I don't use any shakes, but I usually have a green smoothie in the morning. Almond milk, greek yogurt, peanut butter, spinach, and a frozen banana to cover the spinach flavor. Switch the regular almond milk for the chocolate flavor and you've got heaven in a cup. It even keeps me full for several hours. If it sounds good…
  • I finished it a couple of months ago and I plan on starting again with week 2 or 3, but with a faster pace. That might be an idea of how to try it if you are already running 30 min. I also liked the variety.
  • As with others, I really needed this today. We are the same height and same starting weight, I'm just almost a decade older and started several months later. :) It is so encouraging to see what you've done and know it is possible for me. It's giving me the inspiration I need to get myself back on track. Thank you, thank…
  • I haven't decided when to post, either. One of the things that motivated me and made me believe I could do it was a couple of friends who lost significant amounts of weight. They hadn't mentioned anything before. I've been keeping it a secret from pretty much everyone, so I'm excited to do a big reveal when the time comes.
  • Tomatoes. I hated them until I lived in Italy and couldn't get away from them. Kale. I started off by mixing them into green smoothies (with enough banana to counteract the taste) because it's considered a superfood. Now I'm kind of addicted to homemade kale chips. My four year old likes them, too.
  • <---- At a 5k on Saturday I went as a running joke. I may just add a sweat band use that or recycle an old Arwen costume.
  • Just one for me...and I married him six months later!
