  • Alright, well I guess I'm wrong. It must be a lucky coincidence.

  • I happened upon a BBC show called Fat Families. It was a wake up call about where I was headed, and was very inspiring seeing these people turn themselves around and taking on their obstacles and setbacks head on.
  • Well, I've lost fat, lost weight, and gained inches around my arms and legs and lost inches around my waist and hips. So...
  • I've been doing keto and lifting for the past 6 months. I've lost 33 pounds - not a lot on keto. My muscle gain is undeniable. I'm lifting 4x as heavy and my major muscles are rock hard. I have a carb cheat meal (all the vegetables!) once a month. Would I lift more with more carbs? Maybe. But at this point I'm used to what…
  • Look up "whooshes and squishy fat" - it's quite an eye opening explanation for stalls.
  • When you're just starting, you don't need to have such a tight control though. It's actually better to have some wiggle room for later when you will need to make adjustments. Any way you start is great. And measuring food is a pain in the neck, so if you start by measuring, you've got a leg up to finish strong.
  • Make small changes that can become habits. Like, drink more water. Then, track everything you eat. Then, start going for walks every day. Things like that. Once you've made one habit, move onto the next. The momentum will build over time.
  • You count carbs - fiber, so your example would be 6 net carbs. You can pick and choose which macros will appear on your diary. I recommend that you switch one of the defaults to fiber (maybe sodium?) so you can easily do the calculation for net carbs.
  • Hmmm Tie between pushing half a ton on the leg press and running for 1.5 hours straight.

  • YouTube is your friend. Also, Bodybuilding.com has a ton of workout programs, and a quiz you can take to figure out which ones fit your needs.
  • Could be if you add some fat it will help you be more satiated. A little can go a long way.
  • A lot of time, "hunger" is actually thirst. Drink more and you might find yourself less hungry.
  • I've only been running for about 4 months. I did C25K, straight into C210K, and what I've been doing is adding 12 minutes, which is about a mile, every week, 3 runs per week. I'll dial it back a bit for a little while, see if my body will adapt. Thanks for the info!

  • Start with doing just one thing. Like, don't change your diet, just get used to recording it. Or add something. Extra water, or taking a walk. Once you've gotten used to that, do the next thing. And the next. You'll be back on track in no time.
  • Every molecule of carbs has 4 molecules of water that attaches to it. So take the weight you "gained" and divide it by 5 and that's closer to what you might have gained. It also might not stick at all.
  • Focus on your diet. Put some time into figuring out how to control what you're eating a little better, food prep or buying different things, etc. Strength training will up your metabolism a little. If you're on your feet 8 hours, and you weren't before, that is cardio. Walking is cardio remember. I know someone who lost…

  • Why not add some cardio? Taking your baby for walks maybe.
  • Put it off. Don't tell yourself, I can't eat that. Just, put it off. Think to yourself, I'll have it a little later. I'll have it tomorrow. Then do something else in the meantime. Slowly you'll get used to not snacking, and you won't feel deprived, because your not going to not do it, full stop, you're just waiting until a…
  • It's really common to lose a lot of weight fast in the beginning, especially if you've cut down on carbs and cut down on prepared foods. That's what people are talking about when they say "water weight." Prepared foods, including restaurants and boxed stuff from grocery stores, are full of salt, which make you retain…

  • All foods are made up of some combination of carbs, fats and protein. There aren't limits on specific types of foods so long as it fits your macro percentages. Another thing - remember the percents you have are based on calories, not grams. Carbs and protein are 4 calories per gram and fat is 9 calories per gram. And…
  • Don't worry about the scale, focus on healing. I was sick for a couple of weeks and gained 10 pounds, and now that I'm up and about again I've lost 8 pounds in 4 days. It will come off again for you too. Good luck with your journey!
  • I fast in the morning and eat before evening workouts, and I usually do two-a-days, cardio in the AM and weight lifting in the PM.
  • Powerade Zero to replace electrolytes
  • Worked for me - I went from 1200 to 1600 and broke through a plateau.
  • You're not eating enough and retaining water. You want this to be a lifestyle, so you should aim for a 1-2 pound weight loss per week. That's 350-700 calories per day, including exercise. If you're hell bent on losing quickly, get WLS. Right now your body just thinks you're ill.
