  • I had an appt. with a new GYN earlier this year, and she commented on my weight, which I did not find offensive. What I did, however, take offense to, was that she then proceeded to lecture me on how I am clearly not eating any of the right things (she did not ask what I actually eat). She told me to either become a…

  • I second the cauliflower-everything. Haven't tried it, and won't - Cauliflower is not rice, pizza crust or mashed potatoes! I am not a fan of any type of cooked greens, unfortunately. I really want to like spinach, collard greens, kale, etc. but I turn my nose up at them every time :#
  • Hi! Sending you a friend request now. I"ve been around a long time, but need to find a new way to commit. As others join this thread, feel free to friend me too!
  • 4/7 - 207.8 - ack! That is not the right direction!
  • Hi - count me in! I lift, and I'm naturally a slow loser, so I'm not sure if I'll make 20 lbs by July 4th, but it will be fun trying! My WI is Thursday. SW/CW - 207.2 GW (challege) - 187.2
  • Hi - add me! I'm 39 and have kids and a dog. I work days only, but the housework/kids/dog keep me busy most nights!
  • Thanks for the response! I was on vacation & just saw it today  I figured out the issue, and it was related to the workout time - somehow my sync time on the Garmin was set to GMT (0:00), rather than EST (-5:00). So it was showing that my workouts occurred 5 hours later than they actually did. That's why the Garmin…
  • Looking for friends! My eating philosophy falls somewhere between calorie counting and IIFYM. I love to lift, but have been out of the gym for about a year. I'm getting close to 40, & I have a couple of kiddos. Friend me if you think we can relate
  • You could take ideas from the Lean Cuisine section of the store. Their meals have no preservatives, so they should give you a clue as to what freezes well  I know from experience that pretty much any kind of pasta dish will freeze well, also stir-fries, but the veggies aren't crisp when you rewarm. Quiches freeze…
  • New to Loveland OH! Grew up in NKY, moved to Louisville, then Philly, now 20 years later, I'm back in the Greater Cincy area
  • Do you like beer? I love beer, but generally find that it doesn't go so well with dessert, so I'm likely to lay off the sweets after having one. Also with the carbonation, I can usually only drink one, so my nightcap tops off at about 150 calories
  • The woods after a rain, and the beach. These scents fill my lungs with happy!
  • Oh my! I've got girlfriends who cheer me on through thick & thin and support me whether I deserve it or not - that's what girlfriends are for! Doesn't mean I'm gonna leave my hubby for them... just sayin'.
  • My son pukes on the playground sometimes after lunch & the nurse doesn't even send him home. Love her for understanding that pizza + french fries+ chocolate milk + dodgeball in 80 degree weather is a recipe for disaster! For the last 2 weeks of school, honestly, I would tell your kid to slack off in gym class. He's got…
  • I was shopping on Zulily today, and they had some dresses from a British designer. I checked the size chart, and it said that a 12-14 US would be a 3X! Ouch!
  • If you were off by an entire ounce of chicken, then you have eaten an extra 45 calories. If you eat an extra ounce of Ben & Jerry's (which is basically a spoonful), then you have eaten an extra 120 calories. If you eat an extra ounce of green beans, which is almost a cup, only 9 calories, so no, it is not just as bad to…
  • If you're not obsessive about it, then they have nothing to worry about. In the case of weighing ice cream, I would just tell them that it is really hard to figure out how much is a serving, so I just pop it on the scale. If you are weighing green beans and grilled chicken though, they might have right to be concerned.
  • Like you, I do a mix. If there aren't too many ingredients, I'll do them individually, for example, some type of skewer with grilled chicken and vegetables wouldn't be too hard to guesstimate. If its completely random, I might just use the quick-add calories feature and take my best guess.
  • Breakfast, what's breakfast? Oh right... that handful of food that I eat while battling traffic on the way to work. Seriously... we work flex time, so if I spend time preparing/eating breakfast at home, that means that I have to stay later in the afternoon, so no thank you. I really like the original Clif bars, the new…
  • Frozen cappuccino drink at Wawa. I ordered a small, no whip, expecting it to be in the 200-250 calorie range like Starbucks. As soon as I tasted it, I knew that would not be the case. I looked it up and that sucker was 400 calories! I tossed out 1/2, but I was so disappointed.
  • I would make little slices in the lamb and stuff them with garlic slivers. Roast that on the grill to your desired temperature - you could use a little smoke, but I would definitely go with applewood or cherry for a mild flavor. For the sauce, a chimichurri. I prefer cilantro, but many people like mint, and either one…
  • We have this same situation in my marriage, but the opposite, I get so frustrated with my husband who has taken up running for the past year or so. It is NOT because I am jealous of his fitness, or because I don't think running is a good hobby for him to have, I actually think it is fantastic, but the time involved is…
  • I have been using Neutrogena Triple Moisture shampoo & conditioner on my thick, wavy, frizzy hair. It helps quite a bit with the frizz, and some days I skip the conditioner because it is too heavy. I have never had that problem in my life! I also like the Aveeno Renew & Replenish. The conditioner is much lighter than the…
  • You all have some really awesome suggestions, thank you so much! I really liked the idea about having the same snack every day, with an option to upgrade it, and the one about having a basket of snacks to choose from. None of my friends have ADHD kids, so it can be hard to get relevant input from them- that's why I asked…
  • Thank you everyone for the kind words. ADHD is only one of the issues that my son struggles with, but it makes all the others so much more challenging! I know meds are controversial, and it was a hard decision to come to, but we have our reasons for choosing this path, and I plan to stick to it until we see evidence that…
  • So awesome! Great work.
  • I like mine with fresh fruit and a sprinkle of turbinado sugar. I like the crunchy texture and the little bit of sweetness.
  • Hi! Sending you a friend request now. I have the Polar FT7, and it uses the same transmitter and strap as the FT4. I have never had any problem with it falling off, although I have had to adjust it occassionallly because it was not making good contact with my skin. I really like using the HRM - I usually subtract about 100…
  • Depends on what it is. I would count a whole chicken nugget, half a slice of cheese, a spoonful of cookie dough or something like that. In general, I do not count tasting while cooking, I just consider to be part of my dinner. If I am eating 1 cup of chicken and broccoli, does it really matter that it was 1 cup + 1…
