Girl, I hear ya. I gain all of my weight in my midsection and I got asked 3 separate times over a span of a year if I was expecting, one even asked me, "boy or girl?"...yeah, I looked that far along. I turned it into motivation to help me reach my goals. Don't let them have that control.

hmm, mine I actually read on MFP somewhere: "You can either feel the pain of discipline from eating less, or you can feel the pain of regret"

Pasta! I love it so much. And a single serving is so depressing...

Seeing stretch marks on my belly when I hadn't been pregnant...also not fitting any of my clothes and having to resort to wearing yoga pants and baggy shirts.
-
When, for the 3rd time in a year and a half, I got asked if I was pregnant. I am a typical "apple" shape, I gain everything in my tummy. By the 3rd time I got asked, I just said, "nope, I'm just 30 pounds overweight". Sure makes them feel awkward lol

I dunno...I don't think rude people deserve to be "understood"
-
woops, meant 'dumbbells'. But that's good to know. I am an "apple" shape, as well. So I will definitely check out "You are your own gym". Thanks so much

What if you don't have a gym membership or heavy weights at home? Can you modify with barbells?

I agree with all of this, because I am the same. I want to say that I read a study (I don't have the link) that said simple carbohydrates can trigger over-eating. Now that I think about it, I read it at dietdoctor.com. It may not be the case with everyone, but for me, it's true.

Yes! This describes my fiancé, he just so happens not to find food an indulgence. He's just naturally wired to not take pleasure in eating. I'll never understand this lol

While I think there is a genetic component, I believe a lot of it has to do with habits. My fiancé is this way (guy in my profile picture), he is very slim. However, he really doesn't eat much, he usually under eats at mealtimes. He also moves A LOT. His job is very physical and lately he's been playing Pokemon Go. But…

I remember 130 being easier to maintain than the 120s. I also didn't have any of the health problems I have now (heartburn, snoring).
-
I'm 5'3" and started at 158. My goal is 130. If I can dip below that, great. But I'm not going to be disappointed if I can't.
-
In addition to it being dangerous, you'll look out of proportion.
-
That's a great way to explain it.

Just to clarify, muscle does not weigh more than fat. 5 lbs of muscle is equal to 5 lbs of fat...they both weigh 5 lbs. The difference is that muscle is denser than fat, therefore you'd look leaner. Can we please get away from this false notion?

I feel ya! I work in a doctor's office and we have food every day. Last week we had an ice cream social. I just kept telling myself that the "party pale" brand is awful (you know, the ice cream that comes in a bucket with a handle) That definitely helped me stay away. I'm constantly weighing pros and cons of whether or not…

I like that body fat composition picture. I am an apple shape, so it's good to know that the arm impedance test is the way to go (assuming the hydrostatic is expensive).
-
For me, it helped take the pressure off knowing that I could basically eat what I want, as long as I eat at a deficit. Once you start thinking like this, the choices you make are a lot better because you don't want to waste calories on non-nutritious food. Plus I just got sick of that full feeling of over-eating, the…

Thank you! Very interesting

It is quite interesting how most (not all) women crave chocolate during that TOM. It makes you wonder what the heck is going on physiologically to cause it. My last period, I didn't have chocolate and I was so irritable! I'm not doing that again, and will opt for dark chocolate...with sea salt, so good!

Because it's crappy Olive Garden haha, your meal looks delicious!!!
-
Yeah, I agree, quite pitiful for the calorie bomb. But I know that if I'm going to sustain this long term, I can't give up the drug rep lunches (saves me so much money), I've decided I'll modify.

Everyone's responses have been so helpful. I ended up logging it at 723, and then I did a 15 minute walk afterwards. Maybe I should keep a scale at work? But I feel good knowing that I might be overestimating. I'd rather overestimate than under, and I really wanted to see if I was on the right track.
-
Yeah, I figured it would be kinda hard to guess super accurately from the picture. Do you think the portions look ok? I really just want to learn portions
-
I said no to an entire tray of assorted dessert "shooters" from Olive Garden.

Five foot three-er here. Started at 157 3 weeks ago, now at 150. Hoping to get to 125.
-
I have a food scale and weigh everything solid

This is the temptation I've had to resist this week. There were birthdays in the office....

????? This is weed, not hallucinogens. Stupid comment.
