If you (or anyone else) are still looking for friends that eat, I'm maintaining and typically consume around 1900 calories/day. I have trouble with the people that are dipping below 1200 and would prefer to have more healthy eaters on my list. When it comes to fitness, I'm mainly focused on strength training these days,…

I'm enjoying Neverwinter so far. It's free to play, so you can try it without worry. I have very active children, so I can't commit to long play periods the way I used to back in my MMO heyday, and this game really seems to work well for short play periods and is quite soloable. You can hop on, do a few quests or PVP…

Hi, all. I'm reading my husband's NRoWL, so I don't know how different it is from NRoL4W, but one thing the author talks about in NRoWL is that doing cardio on non-strength days can actually interfere with strength gains. The way he explained it, your body will have to choose between strength and endurance and will likely…

My husband and I are playing and enjoying Neverwinter. I'm playing a cleric, and I'm not a fan of having to target my heals via the mouse, but other than that, I'm finding the mechanics straightforward enough. I think where this game really has the potential to shine is with its Foundry content. Giving the players the…

I'm interested in the responses on this one. I suspect it's by and large a sinner. I know my favorite cereal has a lot of carbs. It's got some sodium and sugar too, although the sugar isn't that bad. I tell myself that the positives (made from whole grains and fortified with vitamins and minerals) outweigh the negatives,…

I really appreciate all of the additional information, article links, and healthy debate that's taking place in this thread. It's definitely helping me to clarify what I want to do! Thanks.

Ah, there we go! I knew it had to be something simple like that. Thanks, all! And yes, 1960.

I've really been questioning this lately myself and was planning to post to get clarification. I started using protein powder and eating protein bars after I got into strength training, largely because I saw a lot of my strength training friends doing it and because I saw via my macros that I needed to bump up my protein.…

I'm using Nike+Kinect training for strength and weight lifting. I've been doing it for a while, and I'm primarily using 15lb dumbells for most of the moves but 25lb dumbells for those where I can manage it. It's been a good option for me, since we don't have other weight equipment at the moment. We're really focused on our…

My husband has the Xbox account, so I don't go online when I play, but I'd love to exchange notes/chat here with fellow Nike+Kinect users. I've been using it since February for strength/weight training (I just use Quickstart rather than the program so that I can do the specific type of exercise I want). I find it to be…

Yes, I think you're right, Joe. I'm just glad I'm not bothering about trying to figure out the calories anymore, but for those still in weight loss mode, I'm sure it's frustrating.

When I was losing, I worked out 4-5 times per week in the late afternoon doing Leslie Sansone's Walk at Home DVDs (wish I'd known about strength training back then - would definitely have done it too). I would typically do 2 miles a day, one a 15 minute mile, and one a faster 12 minute mile. I ate as healthy as possible…

I'm 42, 5'5", and my starting weight was 164. I pretty much followed exactly what MFP had me set at, which I think started at around 1600, and as I lost, decreased down to around 1240 near the end. I wasn't a happy camper at 1240, but I didn't know any better at the time (was just using MFP for logging and didn't pay any…

Yep! I'm using Nike+Kinect for weight training and have been using it for months. There have been some small frustrations - Kinect does not always see me properly for unknown reasons, so for some exercises, it can't track my moves, but for the majority, it's fine. The workout has definitely made a big difference in my…

Lost all my weight while eating healthy / watching calories and walking with Leslie. If you do the exercises at the highest level of intensity you can muster, they will continue to challenge you all along. I only started strength training after I reached my goal, but I wish I'd known about it/started it sooner. I highly…

I've felt the same way. I'm 5'5", 115lbs, and my measurements were 34, 28.5, 34. I'm pleased to say I lost an inch off my waist in the past month or two though. I've been really focusing on strength training, and I think it is making a difference.

I've been at my goal since December, and like you, I shifted my focus to continuing to build my fitness. I got into strength training (wish I'd done that during the weight loss instead of just cardio), which I really enjoy. I continue to log on MFP, but it's more of a meal planner/day planner type logging at this point. I…

Yes, this is better:

SAHM here too. My oldest son is 5-1/2 and my youngest is 22 months. They definitely keep me hopping. I reached my weight loss goal in December, but I continue to use MFP for planning/logging and because of the great community. I'm happy to provide support if you want to add me.
-
I dropped fast food entirely and committed to a near daily exercise program.
-
I'm 42 as well, and my youngest son will turn 2 in June. I reached my weight loss goal in December, but it took me a while to figure out maintenance, and I still find MFP incredibly useful as a planning tool and for the community. I'm always happy to provide support & encouragement.

Another vote for Siggi's. The thing I love best about it is actually its texture - it's so thick & creamy. I don't care for the Orange Ginger flavor either; too bad you chose that one to try. I highly recommend the blueberry or vanilla. I love to spread some Siggi's on top of my Suzie's kamut cake, such a great blend of…

I make pancakes based on this recipe: http://www.chef-in-training.com/2012/08/skinny-pancakes/print/. My favorite variation is for chocolate pancakes. I modify the recipe by substituting plain nonfat yogurt for the cottage cheese, I add 1 TBS flour (and I like to use Kamut flour), I add 2 TBS unsweetened cocoa powder, I…

I'm in maintenance (have been since December) and would welcome more maintenance friends. I use MFP as a daily planner too! I also think it's helpful and inspiring to see what other people in maintenance are doing both from a food & exercise standpoint.
-
I strongly recommend something a little different - Siggi's Skyr: http://www.skyr.com/products_overview.html. I love that the ingredients list is short & simple (no junk), and the thick, creamy texture is absolutely amazing. They are also much less sweet than most of the yogurt I've tried (I don't like it sweet).

We love Popcornopolis' Nearly Naked popcorn. 33 cals per cup and nothing weird/unhealthy in it. We get it at Costco.

I am completely addicted to Peanut Butter Toast Crunch cereal. I have it for breakfast and often for a snack later in the day as well. Thank goodness for low cal almond milk to go with it!

I've been on maintenance since January, but I wouldn't say I have it completely figured out yet. I'm 5'5" and 116 lbs. I was originally going by what MFP had set for me, which was about 1640 and then adding in exercise. I was exercising 4-5 times/week, and on those days, my calories were usually at ~1800-1900. My exercise…

Nice article! I really enjoy interval training. There's something about slowing down - deliberately holding back, and then really going all out for a brief while that makes it all so much more interesting and fun.

Do any of you with HRM's do the boosted miles (jogging) and/or interval miles? If so, I'm curious what the calorie burn is for them.
