I am currently breastfeeding my third child, who is 3 months old. My question is, "How do you account for the breastfeeding calories on your MFP?" I know that breastfeeding moms burn about 500-1000 extra calories per day, especially when the baby is young. Do you add them as exercise? Do you just manually increase your…

I agree

Agreed. If it is too easy, you can always advance a day or two in the program. Also, if it ever gets too hard, you can always repeat a day, or a week. There are no hard and fast rules, here. Any amount you can get your body moving is a good thing.

You look amazing! Good job!

I also enjoy soundtracks. They sort of tell a story as I run. I helps me keep my mind occupied.

I get mixes here: http://www.rockmyrun.com/ You get one free mix per month and can pay for additional mixes if you want. They are very upbeat, and you can even pick the beats per minute of the mix.

Good for you! I started running a year ago and can't imagine not doing it. Also, regarding the following: YES! It does. I started out just where you are, and it really does get easier. Your body builds up endurance based on the increasing demands you are putting on it. Keep at it. Repeat a day or even a week of the program…

I am getting fit so that I can be healthy, live long, and fully enjoy life. A year ago I was 27 pounds heavier and had enough endurance to run one block. Now I can run 5 miles, and I am happier. It used to be about how I look. It is now more about being healthy and less about how I look.

My husband and I both enjoy our fitbits. We use them to measure daily activity. We track food in myfitnesspal. We track exercise that fitbit doesn't do well (like bicycling) in myfitnesspal. The interface works well.

I like Target and Kohl's. Buying the workout clothing is an exciting time!

If you are just looking at logging calories, try this: http://www.runnersworld.com/cda/caloriecalculator

Also make a sandwich with those 100 calorie sandwich rounds and 200 cal of your favorite sandwich. I use one slice of cheese, a little lunchmeat, lots of lettuce or spinach and a tomato.

I also love oatmeal. I chop up an apple and add some almonds, and sometimes a little cinnamon. No sugar or butter needed!

I like the sweat wicking clothes. For running, I like the shirt with the bra built in and the shorts with the underwear built in. Maybe TMI, but they are the most comfortable. I used to use the compression gear, but now I opt for something a little more loose. Too loose bunches up, though. As for the custom t-shirt, try…

I used to play a lot of WoW, then a little RIFT, now a lot of SWTOR.

I agree 100% on the shoes. They make a world of difference. Plan to spend around $100. Go to a running shoe store and let them watch you run, measure your foot, and fit you.

Two rather personal quotes that keep me going are: "Wow, honey, you look great!" my husband "Mommy, I am proud of you!" my kids

Face and legs first. It always seems like the belly is last, but even with my belly being slow to catch up, I have gone down two pants sizes, so I think it is all relative. Everything else lost more than the belly, but I guess I have lost all over. I keep hearing that you can target muscles for toning, but not for fat loss.

I am around 5'3" and I have gone from 167 to 146. I would still like to get down to around 125, then we will see what happens from there. My best luck with weight loss has always come when I am diligent about tracking my calories here. It really keeps me from absent-mindedly snacking at night. I also started running this…

I found this helpful. The Nonrunner's Marathon Guide for Women: Get Off Your Butt and On with Your Training by Dawn Dais.

We have a variety of cook books (there are a ton on the market these days) with low cal/ low fat recipes. The key is to find something that you like. In your case, you may want to look for kid friendly, so you can engage your energetic nieces in the cooking adventure. Be sure to find a cookbook that has the calorie info…

Just the fact that they were talking about finding girls willing to "give it up" on the first date says A LOT about the low self esteem of the men involved in this study.

Avocado (sparingly), beans, and corn make a good mexican salad.

By the way, great job on that bike ride!

I usually get very hungry the day AFTER a big workout like that (I run), so I allow myself to eat some of my exercise calories the next day. I agree 100% with the post about eating the good fats. Also make sure you get enough protein, and the "good carbs."

That does look delicious!

Welcome! I have found this site and community to be very helpful. When I use it correctly, I always lose weight. When I "forget" to log foods, I get into trouble and stagnate or gain. Exercise is amazing because it releases endorphins, which make you feel good. Good luck on your journey!
