From the calculator's I'm using (http://www.halls.md/ideal-weight/body.htm and http://www.pennmedicine.org/health_info/wellness/ideal_weight_results.html), I go with the former (Age/height). It gives me a range of 111-146, with a "people's ideal" of 139, which is about where I think I should be based on a formula of my…

They did tell me METS, which is something I haven't been tracking... guess I should get on that.
-
Thanks! I actually had that done 2x 15 years ago, VO2 max and all - before training for a big event and post event - but I don't think at that time they told me daily/avg caloric burn. I work out with an HRM (Polar RS300x) to track calories on workouts, and it has a OwnIndex that the company claims is comparable to VO2…

5 years, but it's the same weight/fitness stage I'm at now.
-
Guess it's just me.

Well, I weighed in this a.m., but I'm in. My obsession with weigh-in's needs a Lent-like reprieve.
-
In the morning after the BM. If I weighed in once per week, and that weight shows little progress or, god forbid, a gain, I'd lose it! Daily I can chart the fluctuations and see the progress.

Alcohol free all month - and lost 6.8lbs :glasses:

Been there, done that. Went from post-op to now running a 5k every other day. Weeks 5 and 6 are dicey, but you can always repeat workouts until you can do them.

^This^. I'm just getting back into shape, so I'm not yet one to talk, but I'm working hard for the body I want, and I want to work hard to keep it. To do that, I know that I'll need people in my life who are on the same journey - luckily, my girlfriend hasn't slipped as much as me, and motivates me every day. While people…

I'm a former track/cross country guy (though you'd never know it now), and so I know ^This^ But also, I finished the C25K app about 2 weeks ago, and it got me back on my feet (literally); even with the 40lb fat-suit, bad back, bum knee, bad ankles and all.
-
I was a trainer/coach in a former life, plus I'm coming off a(nother) back injury :frown:, so I've had to start back slow. Wall/knee push-ups sound like a good place to start, if you can only manage 5, I'd try to do more sets - like 4. For rows, you probably want something heavier than soup cans - maybe a 1/2 gallon of…

Ditto!

Good to know, thanks!

Totally ^this^, plus, how about sorting new searches by most confirmations? No offense y'all, but some of y'all can't seem to read a package, and I hate having to sift through 8 people's "Amy's Cheddar Cheese Burritos" to find the one that actually matches the info on the package. Also, it kills me that the progress…

I've known a few, but yeah, it's mostly guys out there. Have you tried rides organized by the local bike shop/club? Are there organized event/rides (Bike MS, charities, etc.) where you're at? We've got quite a few out here in KC...

I do the same with a pair of 33" dress pants - I can button them, but I'm "Captain Tightpants" with a muffin-top. I keep telling myself, two more weeks and they'll fit...

Guess it's just me.

I felt exactly like that kid looks when I ran this a.m. And I agree: We're lapping the 95% of the population who are still in bed....
-
A good follow up to my "6 drink July." I'm in.

Truedat! I've gained and lost 50+ lbs before and am still amazed - the treatment is night and day. In my head, I've remained the svelte, fitness professional, but try coaching adult gymnastics when you don't look like you can do anything remotely athletic. There are thousands of little signs, small perks and so forth that…

Ditto. But I also had problems when I went from 183lbs to 135lbs; everyone I knew said I was losing too much. Of course they didn't know about the decade of my adult life I spent under 125lbs (I'm 5'4" with a fairly slim build) - or that I'd never been over 135 until I moved to the Midwest in my late 20's. I decided it…

40 by X-mas... I'm in.

Now there's a message I can get behind! Wait - maybe I didn't phrase that well...

Ah, alcohol: "The source of and solution to all of life's problems" - Homer Simpson. Really though, I also have a strong aversion to BS. I try to just be on here for the tracking ("Calories in < Calories out = weight loss"), but then I see a thread like this...
-
Oh yeah, and even "Calisthenics...light" comes in at 69 kCal. :noway:
-
A: It depends. I find I can't record it as "strength training (weight lifting)" because it really doesn't do that much for me, but perhaps you're different. My Ex: I work out with a Heartrate monitor to accurately measure calorie burn. At this stage of my build up, I do either a run (I'm finishing the Couch-to-5K app) or…
