  • Yep! I used to go down the pub every Wednesday night, meet a bunch of people and usually drink ~8 pints. Not healthy, very calorific and made for unproductive Thursdays! Probably only have a pint a week at the mo - and the odd glass of wine.

  • My usual: rode to work and back. 11 miles each way in around 50 minutes. I log it as 450kcals each way. Ate most of it back yesterday mind you as we had the in-laws round to babysit so missus and I went out for some fine dining. :D
  • The BMI calculator on this site is actually quite useful because unlike others I've tried it tells you what the ranges are in terms of weights for someone of your height. Look under Apps->BMI or follow this link: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/tools/bmi-calculator 1.2kg to go till I finally hit "Healthy" - then I'll have a…
  • Okay, a new thing to be aware of: You can now connect to other fitness services and devices. I've hooked up to me Endomondo account so any exercise I track with Endomondo automatically gets logged in MyFitnessPal too. This is great BUT Endomondo is even more generous with the Calories Burnt calculation than MFP is. It…
  • Oooh looks like, as of today, MyFitnessPal can syn with Endomondo and Withings scales too: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/mike/view/introducing-the-myfitnesspal-app-gallery-434827
  • Are those Withings scales? Go to be better than mine which seem to give a different reading every time I stand on them. :grumble: My other main tool is tracking my rides and exercise on Endomondo. This gives me a clear training log that helps keep me honest with myself (in the same way that MFP helps with food) and I find…
  • cayman07: yeah I always weigh first thing in the morning, post-piss. That gives you a pretty consistent "dry" weight. Otherwise you're just weighing what you've eaten/drunk. Jamesha100: welcome. 31 pounds?!?! Holy crap well done!
  • As predicted, no change at all this week despite being well under my calorie goal. Ah we'll next week should show some movement.
  • Nice idea. My 3-month progress graph in the app always gives me a little hope, as it shows a reassuringly slow but steady drop - with the odd naughty spike obviously.

  • A nice bit of inspiration from one of the user blogs. This guys shed 100lbs and looks quite rightly pleased about it: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/dirtystacks/view/what-does-100-lbs-look-like-431868
  • Lost a kilo (~2lbs) this week. Pretty happy with that as it was more than I was expecting. My weight loss seems to come in little surges like that though, so I'll probably not lose anything this week. As long as it keeps going down I don't get too hung up on it.
  • Mmmmm... crisps! As someone on STE said most eating is boredom, habit or mistaken thirst. If you find yourself "hungry" then ask yourself: "Am I hungry enough to eat an apple?" If the answer is no, then you're not REALLY hungry. If the answer is yes, then have an apple!!
  • 1700? 1370?? :noway: I thought you lads were fat?? My calorie goal is 1900! :drinker:
  • Hmmm.. from what I've read on the web, a heart rate monitor should give a fairly accurate calorie burn figure, assuming it is set up properly. But I'm no Sports Scientist and I've no idea how they work out what accurate means or how many calories you actually burned.
  • Is that with an HRM hooked up to the Edge 800?
  • What's your weight loss set at? Mine is set at 1lb (which is what MFP recommend) - I'm aiming for nice slow steady sustainable loss because I don't want to resent being "on a diet" and I'm aiming for permanent lifestyle change kinda thing (smaller portions mainly!) Edit: Oh and to answer the question, if I lose a pound…
  • Bloody hell! 41lbs? Good effort davmel
  • Nah, I don't really count walking about a bit as exercise :D
  • I think diaries are only viewable if you make them public (mine is but I haven't filled out today yet). Or if you add each other as friends.
  • Hey up, I'm also fat, but less than I was. My vital stats: Start weight: 99kg Current weight: 91.5kg Goal Weight: 88.4 or less ("Healthy" BMI) Daily Calories: 1900
