And NOW to bed! Pippin says, when BLACK RIDER is heard again (ca. 9 p.m.). ELVES arrive, RIDER leaves, and Frodo & Co. continue with Elves.

THIS. Just get a good HRM for running and other cardio. The other toys are inaccurate enough that you can figure it out close enough without em.

That is awesome! great that he is all excited about it.

I didn't even know that almonds had nipples. Doh!

Yes, you will lose weight with walking an hour a day. Obviously you have to be eating a calorie deficit too. I lost 40 lbs in 2012 by walking 60 minutes a day and eating the MFP recommended calories. Lost another 12 lbs once I started running 3 days a week (C25K) towards the end of the year.

Ah, the wonderful W5D3! You make it with sheer willpower. I think you will surprise yourself and do it the first time. You just push right through.

YTD 17.86 Miles...Climbed a steep slope. Pippins yawned. I hope to make camp by nightfall.

On top of the C25K 3 times a weeks, I would also walk for an hour 7 days a week with my wife. On run days, that would but me over 6.5 miles.
-
You will be surprised at the results. I finished my C25K at the end of November and ran my first 5K on Dec. 8. literally, If I can do it, anyone can. I hadn't run since high school over 25 years ago and I managed to run the 3.1 miles straight in under 30 minutes. At the beginning of the program, I was huffing and puffing…

^^^This. I can't believe the snobs in these forums sometimes. Act like it's their home gym or something. Kudos to all of you who get out and at least try. Everyone is new at some point so don't let these gym snobs deter you.

^^^^This. You would want to check the A1c level to get a better picture.

I just finished this. I dont really care for Dr. Oz. Kind of a shill. But i did it out of interest. It about 1400 calories a day of nutrient rich ingredients. Ideally we would eat this healthy all the time. Shakes were tasty. Even liked the lunch one. Nice calming hot bath was nice since I never take them. After three days…

One cannot account for every variation or opinion.

Thanks, I went from XXL to M or L (depending on the fit). Keep up the good work.

It's what your grand-parents or great-grandparents used to call "Food". Basically one ingredient items alone or combined. Non processed. Apple has one ingrediant, its an apple. Big Mac...not so much

I love iced mocha's so I put a shot of Espresso, Hershey's LITE syrup, and a cup of Blue Diamond Coconut Almond Milk. Stir it up and add ice cubes. Kind of like an Almond Joy. Delish.

So far, I have liked Endomondo the best. Tried Runkeeper, Runtastic, MapMyRun etc.. and just kind of liked how Endomondo worked the best. Also plugs into MFP. I did get a BT HRM that really only works with Digifit, so I have since come to like Digifit a lot as well.

Great Job!

Great job!

Thanks all! overall it went pretty well. The run had some hills that I wasn't really fond of but managed to do OK. I made it in the chip time of 29:24 which allowed me to make my goal of < 30 minutes. Came in 20th overall and 3rd in my age group (40-49). Not too bad since I believe there were somewhere between 100-120…

Great ideas. When i start my gym membership in January, I am heading straight for the free weights. Slice of pizza in hand.

Digifit is a pretty good app. It connects with HRMs with dongle or BlueTooth. Has a nice web dashboard as well. Only thing lacking is MFP integration.

Umm no. Milk is not a solid. I think you are thinking of cheese. Milk is 85-90 percent water so a cup of milk is not the same as a cup of water. However, you could safely count it as water if push comes to shove. Having said that, you are right with straight water being the better choice. Especially over soda.

I find that there is this myth that folks think their opinion is a fact.

Whatever you do, don't look at W5D3

Just finished my C25K today. Ran 3.1 miles straight. 2300-2500 is not way too much though. If you are exercising, then you aren't too far off. Research TDEE.

Just finished this program today. Although I really hate running, I was able to accomplish the program. Was it hard? yes. But if I can do it, anyone can. I was the kid in high school who walked at the back of the pack when the PE teacher made us run laps. Now at 44, I was able to run 3.1 miles straight with no…

You will want to go to a good shoe store and have your measurements taken. They can fit you for a good shoe. Then buy them online for a better price.

Endomondo currently lists me at 79.15 miles so far. Still some time left. Maybe I'll hit 100!
-
Great job. Wish I could get that time. My timing has not improved at all. I am probably around a 32-34 minute 5K. Although I have yet to run it. Thats my next run. Finished W8D3 yesterday morning so the next run is it.
