Stains on running shirts
Hi All, Since I started using run guard or the likes on my chest to prevent nipple chafing, I now get a circular brown stain on my running shirt where the nipples are. My guess is that its dust from running outside sticking to the sweaty area where the anti-chafe is. My problem is that these spots don't come out and now I…

Inspiration to those in C25K
Saw this today and it reminded me how far I have come since finishing C25K. In case it cuts off the image... Sure, it hurts now..... But some day it will be your warm up.

Couch to half marathon
Did the C25K in Sept - Nov of 2012. Kind of got stuck running just 3 miles for a couple of months after that. I realized in January that I could go further...so I did. Started adding on a mile a week on my Sunday run. Now my long run is 10-12 miles. I am running my first half marathon this coming Sunday 4/7. Not too bad…

Keep it up folks!
Stick with if everyone! I did C25K starting this past September - November. With conditioning, it gets sooo much better. I ran 8 miles straight yesterday and really impressed myself. It's crazy to think that I went from never running to this in a short amount of time. And no one was even chasing me!

Interesting study results. aerobic vs. resistance
Saw this online today and thought it was interesting. http://www.dukehealth.org/health_library/news/aerobic-exercise-trumps-resistance-training-for-weight-and-fat-loss Seems to be a lot of discussion in the forums on this subject. It will probably end up creating more questions than answers and the normal troll responses.…

At last!!!
Finally dipped below 200 on the scale for the first time today. 199.8. Not much under, but I'll take it. Haven't seen that for 20+ years.

First 5K in the books
Just got the results posted online. Came in 20th overall out of 87. 3rd out of 9 in my age group. Overall chip time officially is 00:29:18.400 for a pace of 9:27. Not too bad considering that there were some hill that I wasn't training on. Beat my goal of < 30 minutes.

T minus 6 days
First official 5K coming up on Sunday 12/9. Folsom Jingle Bell Rock'N 5K. Ran a trial 5K before work this morning and am at exactly 30 minutes. Hopefully I can match that or better on Sunday. On a side note, my wife gave me an early birthday present of a HRM. I ran with it the first time today and didn't like the zone I…

program completed.
Well, I ran my last training run today. 3.1 miles. Not very fast, but I did it. Actual chip timed 5k coming up on 12/9.

W8D3
Whew, made it through. Only one more workout to go. W9D1 is to run 3.1 miles straight then I am done with the training program. 12/9 I will run an "official" 5K race. Been tough though. Really would like my time to get better. Can never get better than around 10 minute mile.

W7D2
Was kind of dreading running 2.5 miles every run this week but today ended up being a pretty good run. Been on the East Coast for the past 10 days (St. Marys, GA) and did my week 6 and start of W7 there. W7D1 was interesting because it was fairly humid by my California standards and I was sweating something fierce. Spent…

W5D3....conquered!
Well, sometimes i just surprise myself. I actually ran 20 minutes straight. wasn't fast at it by any means but I did it. Looking at my runmeter app, looks like I was hovering around the 10:00 minute mile mark. It said my fastest pace was 8:54 which sounds good on paper. :drinker: Never been happier when the little voice…

TDEE doesn't seem right
So I have been reading up on TDEE and the calcs do not seem even remotely right. About me... Weight: 202 Height: 70 inches Age: 44 Job: Desk Exercise 30 minute walk 7 days a week, C25K 3 days a week. House cleaning/chores several hours a week. I typically list my exercise level at light exercise. From the different…

W5D2
Did my W5D2 run today. Surprisingly, it wasn't so bad considering how I struggled week 4. I really think the longer runs can be easier to a degree since it gives you time to actually find a groove. My cold is gone too so I am sure that helped me a bit. Next up, the famous W5D3 20 minute run. That's will be on Friday.

C25K on a treadmill
So winter has hit us and rain if curtailing my morning runs. Trying to run when the weather is better in the afternoons. So I am thinking that on rainy days, I can maybe go the clubhouse and jump on a treadmill. I was wondering if anyone has experience with modern treadmills? meaning, how do you switch from walking to…

W4D1
Holy Crap. Running 5 minute intervals = suck. didn't help that I have a cold. Running on cold meds is trippy. Decided to run Sunday afternoon as opposed to Monday at 5 am since a rain storm was heading our way. Glad I did. It was pouring this morning. At least I got through it. Hopefully be feeling better by the next run.

W2D3 in the books
Must say that it does get challenging each week but by the third day of each week you can really tell the training is effective. I like running runmeter on my iPhone in the background of my C25K app. I decided to go all out on the third run interval today to see what my fasted "mile" pace is. Got it to 7.27 min mile.…

W1D2 in the books
Can't wait til I stop sucking wind after 90 seconds of running.

Started my C25k today
Didn't go to bad. accomplished it easily. The iphone app I chose is kind of lame though. The one from Zen Labs is just a glorified timer. It doesn't work if you lock the screen. If you don't lock the screen, then it is easy to accidentally bring up the settings which pauses the program. Basically have to run holding the…

Iced Mocha
I love me some Iced Mocha. Starbuck's or Peets. One of my downfalls of dieting. I have finally found a low cal one to have at home that I can enjoy. 1 cup Blue Diamon Almond-Coconut Milk 1 tbsp Hershey's Lite Chocolate Syrup 1 Shot of espresso (I use my Tassimo but a Kuereg would work too). Stir it all together and add…

lab results
Got my lab results back today. A1C low enough so that I can stop taking my diabetes meds now. Cholesterol in normal ranges without meds as well. Still on the HBP meds. But hey, 2 out of 3 gone ain't bad :)
