I used MFP right before I got pregnant- probably why it ended up being easy for us. I counted calories with a focus on running to eat back my calories. I was pretty successful at dropping about 30 lbs. I stopped counting calories when I got pregnant, and frankly I ate whatever I wanted. I gained 60 lbs. by the end and…

Excellent! I started today as well and to be honest, that was after trying a couple days ago and giving up well before 5 minutes in! Hope it goes well for you- don't forget to take your before pics!

Thanks, everyone! I will stick with it as planned, especially if it makes me like week 7 even better. After doing the 20 minutes, I felt like a champion, so hopefully week 6 will make me eager for 7. I never imagined I'd be looking forward to the running parts and dreading the walking parts of this program.

How about weighing in once every 2 or 4 weeks?

Get her the book "How to Boil Water." My mom got it for me when I went off to college and it has excellent, easy recipes that have a lot of shortcuts for beginners (such as get a rotisserie chicken for making soup).

I can't speak for all the flavors, but Thin Mints freeze well. Maybe try it, and if it works, great- you can have a few over time. If not, then I guess if they taste terrible you won't want to eat them.

I wouldn't bother getting anything too fancy, even the simple ones do the job right. However, if you cook brown rice, beware that I've always doubled the water (and therefore the cook time) in order for it to cook thoroughly. I think mine takes about 30-40 minutes for brown rice vs. 15-20 for white rice.

Wow- amazing! Congratulations!

I think you're best off going to a store where you can try out a bunch. I got mine for free from a family friend- you certainly get what you pay for! Beware that some of the old ones are VERY loud as in you can't get up early to workout because it will wake your entire neighborhood (or in my case- can't hear the TV even at…

JC Penny has workout stuff on clearance all the time. I've gotten stuff for $3, $7, probably a max of $14. Couldn't tell you the brand (certainly not Nike or anything like that), but they seem to have a good variety of colors and patterns. Also, I agree about Wal-Mart having a nice Danskin collection. Just be aware if you…

All the time! Try rolling a tennis ball along the floor with your foot- it's a great massage. You can also do dips on the stairs- put your toes on the edge of the step and let your heels drop back. Do both a few times a day and you should avoid a great deal of pain.

Way to go! You're off to a great start and I look forward to seeing you post more progress.

I use the Polar FT4- it was $65 on Amazon. I really like it and I haven't had any problems with it being uncomfortable. The only thing I did notice is that it has a hard time reading when I'm on my back for ab exercises, but that is rare. It's a great way to gauge how hard you're working- I'm very good at thinking I'm…

I used to get headaches every time I would exercise until a co-worker recommended I drink a ton of water. Now I drink at least 1-2 cups of water before I exercise, typically 2-3 during, and 1-2 after. That would be for a 30 min workout. For an hour, I would probably add a couple cups during exercise.
