Here in Aus we have two types, the Haas and Shepard avocado, both are listed in the food database, the Shepard looks very much like the one in the OP. http://australianavocados.com.au/how-to/how-to-variety

Hi from West Oz.... back in the saddle and making a serious effort this time, school friends having heart attacks and another friend dropping dead while on vacation has meant a bit of a lifestyle reassessment. Was hanging around 105 kg over Xmas and the New Year, but decided I really need to stop being overweight. so that…

Don't log in MFP if you are logging activity on Fitbit as you will be double dipping the calories burnt. Let Fitbit do all the exercise logging.

Here in Abu Dhabi its peaking around 120 deg F in the shade and feels hotter still, nights it drops down to a cool 95 deg F. I have my room ac set on 74 deg and it feels like an ice box!

Ruby I'm trying 5/2 at the moment as well. I find it pretty easy, 2 days of 600 calories a day (500 for women), then the rest of the week at close to your normal TDEE. I still don't eat too much on those days I'm actually going a little bit more than that, with alternate day fasting while I'm away at work, and then back to…

Another vote for IF... couples of days of 600 calories a day then eat near normal for the remainder... pretty much what you are doing but you do it spread over a month rather than a week at a time

Hi Everyone, safely back at work and in the 45+ deg heat here in Abu Dhabi. Completed my first 7 weeks of 5/2 IF and managed to keep it pretty much on track, even including a 5 day trip away with the family at a town called Broome, a 2hr 40 min flight from Perth, did a 2 hour ocean kayak trip and a sunset camel ride which…

Well the first week on IF- 5/2/ADF has been quite successful.... lost almost 2kg.... perhaps I have found my way ahead!
-
I've been going for just over a week, doing ADF to start before settling into a 5/2 routine. 600 calories or thereabouts for me. Finding it not bad at all. There's also a 5/2 group as well.
-
Thanks for that Larro... if it worked for you then there's hope for me... just need to get the exercise thing going now
-
Well as I've been maintaining for the last few months rather than losing as I want, and losing the same 3 kg time and time is a bit disheartening, I'm giving 5/2 IF a try. Well not quite, I'm doing alternate day fasting while I'm away for a month at work where I have no control of what I chose to eat or how it is cooked,…

I have a Charge HR and did a direct comparison against my FT4 HRM with a strap and it was practically the same all the way up to 170 bpm... which I know is pretty unusual as they are not supposed to go that far.

Most of the better Garmin bike comps should have the ability to read a cadence sensor, as well as a HRM. They use the ANT+ standard. They give a pretty reasonable calorie burn as it takes into account the elevation too.

That's not Paleo... there's a lovely chunk of cheese in it....

Hi all.... Been laying low and slipping a little the last few months.. a few too many treats and not enough exercise has seen a couple of kg creep back on. But have got myself a new Fitbit Surge HR as a stick to encourage me to be a bit more active. Quite interesting to see how my HR drops down to overnight and how how…

Use Strava app on your smartphone or Mapmyride.. or if you get serious a dedicated bike computer will GPS and HR monitor from Garmin or Polar

Hi all.... back at work for a month of checking in on you guys.. found I had 160 updates on the Cool Kids thread, I have still been logging and now up to 340 odd days. I just didn't get much chance to check in with you guys during my 3 weeks off work. Now back for my 4 weeks work, so here in Abu Dhabi for Xmas and New…

I've got a fitbit flex, but will go for a vivofit or one of the new fitbits, with the HRM when it is available, should my flex die.

You can link Mapmy run to MFP, all the Mapmy*** link to MFP even MapMy DogWalk...

I've got an Edge 800 and its great with HRM and Cadence monitor... it wasn't able to sync directly through Garmin Connect, but that might have changed now. You can sync it however through Strava or Mapmyride

It doesn't light up all the time.... if you tap it a couple of times it will light and show up your steps.... as long as you don't tap it and put it to sleep!!

I just did the same, and found my Fitbit adjustment was getting high while set at Sedentary on MFP. When adjusting to Lightly Active, my calorie target plus Fitbit adjustment was around 200 calories less than it was on Sedentary. As I was following pretty close to my MFP calorie target including adjustments, it may explain…
-
Following on from this thread and previous thread on a similar subject, I had my MFP set to Sedentary and was regularly having large Fitbit adjustments of over 500 calories due to the number of steps I was taking and found I wasn't really having the expected loss. Following the advice from a previous thread, I adjusted my…
