Ever since I read all the studies that showed that people who take vitamins have no better health outcomes or lie expectancy than people who don't, I quit taking them. I am fairly careful to eat nutrient-dense foods and I do check the micronutrient levels at the end of the day. There is even now controversy about older…

Why would you do such a thing? Chewing delicious food is such a great and sustainable part of life. Most of those shakes are not satisfying and they end up full of sugar, making you more hungry than you started. The way I avoid overeating at dinner is to not ever let myself get the the point of starving. Mid afternoon, I…

Tea of all kinds has some possible health benefits, but weight loss isn't one of them. Drink it if it helps you control mindless eating, but otherwise, it's not magic.

I often log my day first thing in the morning while I'm having coffee. As far as not having time to eat and raise kids. . . that's a mystery to me. I raised two daughters from birth to adulthood and can't recall even a day when motherhood kept me from eating regular meals. Among other things, your kids are watching your…

Better is to get an HRM with a chest strap and let it calculate your calorie burn. I have a Polar F4 and it probably gives me more accurate numbers.

Of course, it's possible.I've never been to a gym, except for a brief spell around 1984 when I quickly realized it wasn't for me. I have a treadmill, a fitness trampoline, an exercise ball, a bike, a dog, and internet access for videos full of strength, flexibility, and cardio routines. Cleaning my own house instead of…

Let MFP give you a calorie target and then educate yourself in basic nutrition. Lots of veggies, fruit, protein, whole grain, dairy and don't forget to enjoy some snacks. Everyone's plan is highly individual based on culture and food preferences. Just say in your calorie goal, get the nutrients you need and learn some…

If under 1000 is a very rare occurrence, it's not that important, but if it is fairly regular, I'd figure out a way to incorporate more nutrient rich food to fuel your body correctly. I don't see how it's possible to be so low unless all you are eating is steamed veggies. Something is definitely wrong if you have to force…

Yes, that work around is what my BF and I do. We batch cook together quite a bit and he just copies meals off my diary and then can add them as a saved meal to his. He can't see the breakdown of the recipe in the recipe builder, but he doesn't care about that.

I weigh those chips and then enjoy. It's better than counting them, which is pretty inaccurate.
-
Have you actually eaten them? My BF bought some of these a while back and it was the most disgusting experience I've ever had.

I have never been a smoker myself, but I have heartbreakingly watched my boyfriend try to quit smoking since 1991. He tried everything to no effect. Finally, two years ago, he took up vaping. He purchased high quality devices, gradually reduced the nicotine percentages in the juice and he never smoked a cigarette again. It…

The USDA has a range for each macro. That's a good place to start. The default settings here are right in that range.

Don't get me started on the number of seventh graders in my classes who think they deserve an A because they turn the work in and are reasonably well-behaved.

I'll have to say that one of the motivating factors that keeps me in maintenance is my pair of 7 for All Mankind skinny jeans. They are stretchy and look great with ballet flats and boots. I hope they never go out of style.

I nearly always stay within my calorie goal. And my log includes potato chips, Froot Loops, dark chocolate, margaritas, and all sorts of other nutritionally worthless foods. Now, I don't just eat that. My main calories come from lean meat, veggies, fruit, dairy, and whole grain, but I can work treats in there too.

I'm a teacher and the faculty lounge often loaded with grocery store bakery items. Most of these I can pass up because, well. . . grocery store bakery items aren't that good. Occasionally, someone's birthday cake looks good to me and I will take a modest piece and log it. Often I just walk out of the room if I think I will…

My fitbit One is pretty accurate as far as determining my TDEE. I eat about what my fitbit says I burn in a 24 hour period, and I've maintained for three years. I rarely get any extra calories until I have surpassed 3,000 or more steps. As far as taking calories away, I've never had calories subtracted except when I sync…

Hum. I have been weighing and measuring everything and wearing a fitbit. I've been at my goal weight for almost three years. I don't think I'm hanging on by a thread. In fact, I'm enjoying my life quite a bit. Maintaining awareness of how much you need to eat and working in some exercise seems to be one big factor in a…

Individuals have widely different caloric needs. At 60 years old, 5'1" and 105 pounds, I maintain at around 1350 with moderate exercise. The statement that even children need 1500-1800 calories is totally wrong.

When my daughters were small, I was so busy carrying, lifting, walking, and generally moving around after them that I never had to worry about my fitness or weight. It's admirable to get the whole family involved in fitness activities, but please make sure to reserve free time for kids and adolescents. They need…

In the 80's I still had to get up to change the TV channel. I did not have a cell phone, iPad or computer, so I was possibly less sedentary. I fried more food in the 80's when eating at home, but for sure restaurant portions have increased. I was chasing two young children around back in those years, so I'd have to factor…

Chicken salad. With celery, walnuts, and whatever else you like. But mainly I don't boil chicken because it is tasteless.

I gave up TV and fast food three years ago. It was the best decision I ever made. I can maintain my goal weight and get lots of other stuff done too. I don't miss either one.
-
There's no storage mode!
-
I don't see how not eating that stuff could make you feel nauseous, but I imagine that emotionally it is a very hard change to make. Dealing with that could certainly make all your systems feel upset.
-
Really? I have had my BF since he was 36. He's 61 now and quite an attractive man. Lots of things get better with age.

I think professional therapy is in order here. People don't overcome very serious and deadly mental illnesses by getting advice on the internet.

Do you under a doctor's care? Frankly, no adult weighs 68 pounds from having a high metabolism. Something is terribly wrong. And your profile says you are 20? Which is it?

Hum. I never thought to roast veggies with balsamic vinegar. Now I want to try that. As for 1200 calories, I eat chicken, pork tenderloin, lots of roasted and steamed veggies, fruit, string cheese, boiled eggs, and a tiny square of dark chocolate. Oh and yogurt, 1% milk, pasta, rice.
